Chapter 775:
Verrucktâs face was lost in the shadows. âDonât worry. As long as youâre with Jareth, youâll be safe tonight.â
Allison nodded. âThatâs good.â
She glanced at the rearview mirror. A few silver-gray cars had been tailing them since they left the apartment. Jareth and his crew were probably in those cars.
Allison asked, âIâll leave with Mr. Williamson, but what about you?â
Verruckt chuckled. His eyes were unreadable as they met hers. âWhatâs this? Are you concerned about me?â He seemed amused.
Allison quickly looked away. âIâm not.â
She had planned to get him to talk, but in the end, she was the one whoâd been played. Verruckt was unbearably smug and cheeky!
Allison arrived at the location shortly after. The event was being held at an exclusive private club. Luxury cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars pulled up and drove off in a constant flow. The guests stepping out of the cars were all dressed in their finest, entering together in pairs.
The car came to a stop at the entrance. A staff member approached to help with parking and leaned in to speak. âGood evening, sir. Over half the guests are already here, including Mr. Blake and his wife.â
Verruckt gave a lazy nod. âAlright,â he said. He then placed Allisonâs hand on his arm without much thought. âHold on tight, and donât give us away.â
âOkay,â Allison assured him as he guided her toward the main entrance.

Outside, a crowd had gathered, each person waiting to show their invitation. All eyes were instantly on them. Whether it was the stunning Allison or Verruckt, who had a mysterious, almost vampiric look, they were clearly the most striking people in the room.
âWow, is that Verruckt from the research institute?â
âYes, it is. I canât believe that cold-hearted genius is here at the Immortality Groupâs event.â
âWhoâs that with him? Sheâs absolutely stunning.â
âWho knows? Maybe some poor girl he snatched up.â
Just then, a staff member walked over to check their invitations, as was standard procedure. After verifying everything, he said, âThis event requires a security check. Please follow me.â
Allison followed closely behind, her eyes scanning the crowd in the security area. She overheard someone mention, âI heard Mr. Josh Smith, the CEO of Immortality Pharmaceuticals, is coming today.â
Allison thought about it for a moment. The buzz in the air made it clear that Joshâs arrival was the reason for all the excitement. Was Verruckt planning to kill him tonight?
As she pondered the situation, they effortlessly made their way through security, likely due to some prior arrangement. Once inside the banquet hall, the grand Baroque-style decor stood out. Crystal chandeliers, each worth millions, bathed the room in a soft glow. The food was prepared by five-star chefs right on the spot, and the music from a white grand piano added to the elegant atmosphere. A single glass of wine here cost more than the average family earned in a year.
