Chapter 792:
âColton, we canât afford to waste this rare opportunity, especially with your motherâs condition worsening. Iâm ready to do whatever it takes for the Stevens family. I just hope you can forgive me,â she implored.
Her earnest plea only stirred more turmoil within Colton. Was Melanyâs long-standing pursuit driven by love, or was it merely a strategic move, even claiming Allisonâs achievements as her own? Despite these doubts, they couldnât afford to linger on these revelations. Securing the neurological relief medicine to help Lindy was paramount.
So, Colton responded, his face unreadable, âAlright, letâs go check it out.â
After selecting their outfits, Melany and Colton wasted no time dressing up and heading to the White Stallion Club.
âIâve got everything under control, Colton,â Melany assured him with a confident smile. âI snagged an agent online and shelled out ten thousand for our tickets. Weâre golden for entry.â
Colton, however, remained indifferent and kept his distance. He even slipped away to grab a bottle of water nearby.
Just when Melany thought her day couldnât possibly spiral further, the moment she picked up the tickets, the agent threw a curveball.
âKeep clear of the main area later,â the agent instructed, his tone shifting. âYour tickets are only good for the front hall. Hang by the outside tables.â
Melanyâs eyes widened in shock. âThat wasnât part of our chat online. I paid ten thousand dollars!â
The agentâs patience wore thin. âNot happy? Hand the tickets back for a refund. But I doubt you want to leave here with your tail between your legs.â
Seething, Melany bit back. âYouâll regret this charade!â The agent merely shrugged, indifferent. âGo ahead. Iâm here for the money, nothing more.â
Thankfully, Colton was out of earshot during the exchange. Melany knew that she had to regroup and keep a calm front.
âThe agent threw in a last-minute twist â todayâs banquet is more like a family gathering,â she explained to Colton, masking her frustration. âOnly insiders get beyond this point, but weâll have a blast here in the outer area.â
âOuter area?â Coltonâs brow furrowed. âAre the MDH Pharma folks going to be around here too?â
âAbsolutely,â Melany replied, masking her uncertainty with a nod.
Colton, preoccupied, didnât probe further.
Stepping into the club, Melany couldnât help but marvel at the lavish decor. Golden candelabras and jewel-encrusted walls gave the place a surreal, fairy-tale vibe â only the elite seemed to belong here, the air itself woven with threads of luxury surrounded her, the atmosphere dripping with elegance. Melanyâs excitement bubbled over, and she couldnât resist scanning the room for eligible bachelors, her eyes sweeping over the crowd for signs of wealth.
