Chapter 814:
Fortunately, Allison was one step ahead â she had obtained a copy of Verrucktâs fingerprint during a seemingly innocent dinner invitation.
âAnything else I should know?â Allison queried, her eyes not leaving the screen.
âCheck this out,â Amya said, switching to another camera angle.
The new feed displayed a bustling dock where a massive cruise ship was anchored.
âWhereâs this footage from?â Allison asked, squinting at the images.
âEastshade Port,â Amya responded, handing her a tablet marked with a highlighted circle. âThis came from Gordonâs last transmission. This dock is under Immortality Groupâs control.â
Allison studied the display, her brow furrowing. âHave Kellan and the others stuck around the dock, or did they board that ship?â
Though their time apart had been short, the distance felt immense, and she found herself yearning for Kellanâs reassuring presence.
âI canât say I know all the ins and outs, but theyâre definitely teaming up to track down the main test site of Immortality Pharmaceuticals. Itâs more than just their glossy office front,â Amya answered.
Handing over the stack of papers to Allison, she added, âLilian is off to the dock tomorrow, and Mr. Lloyd is already cooking up an ambush.â
Settling back, Allison tapped her chin thoughtfully. âThe pieces are starting to fit together. Tonightâs banquet turned into a shootout, yet the lab and Immortality Group are still playing it cool. Theyâve even penciled in a meeting for tomorrow, which is curious, to say the least.â
âThe deal tomorrow, is it still a go?â Amyaâs tone carried a mix of surprise and concern. Anyone with half a brain could see that after tonightâs clash, Verrucktâs research institute and Immortality Group were barely keeping the lid on a full-scale war.
âIt will go ahead,â Allison confirmed with a nod. âAs long as Verruckt is breathing, the dealâs on the table.â This nugget of information was one of many Allison had dug up. Todayâs standoff was clear as day: both sides were on edge. They knew the other wanted them out of the picture, yet they kept up their poker faces. And despite an expected showdown tonight, they were still on for tomorrowâs meeting.
There had to be a vital piece of the puzzle keeping them in check. Allisonâs gaze drifted toward the cruise ship, anticipating a new player to step onto the scene tomorrow. That should be why both sides were restrained. So, even with Verruckt and Josh at each otherâs throats, if they made it through tomorrow, they would carry on.
âIf tomorrowâs transaction rolls out as planned, weâre still on track to blow the lab sky-high,â Amya said, a hint of unease in her voice. âBut I ran into a snag today.â
âWhatâs up?â Allison asked.
