Chapter 821:
Fiona screamed, her body collapsing to the floor. It felt as if something had torn through her stomach. The pain was unbearable, so intense that she couldnât help but cry out.
âVerruckt, save me, or Iâll die!â
But Verruckt didnât react. He remained cold and unmoved, waiting in the shadows. He carefully tracked the enemyâs movements each time they fired.
Bang!
He ignored Fionaâs desperate cries, instead targeting the men in black with his own shots.
The room fell silent, the thud of bodies hitting the floor the only sound that remained. The noise died down with the last body falling. Fionaâs sobs cut off when the door to the cold storage creaked open.
âMr. Shaw, sorry Iâm late.â
Jarethâs flashlight swept into the room. The beam landed on Verruckt. His figure was burned into Fionaâs memory.
She would never forget the look in his eyes at that moment. They were cold, utterly emotionless. He appeared like a soldier, battle-worn and numb. There was no trace of feeling in him.
âThereâs still someone alive,â he said flatly.
Verruckt stepped over the fallen bodies and fixed his gaze on Fiona. His gun gleamed in the dim light, cold and threatening. He paused, as if considering whether to squash an insect.
âVerruckt⦠donât kill me. I came here for you!â Tears of fear streamed down Fionaâs face. It was only now that she truly understood how dangerous and cruel he was. âI promise I wonât tell anyone about tonightâ¦â
Jareth, watching the scene unfold, frowned. âMr. Shaw, the firebombs are ready.â
From where he stood, he saw Fionaâs chances were slim. His boss showed no mercy to any woman â except Alice. Verruckt remained unmoved, his expression blank. âThis place will be destroyed soon. If you want to live, crawl out on your own.â
When Fiona heard his words, her face went pale. It was over. Fiona knew it was certain â she would die here.
âVerruckt, is this your way of punishing me because of that bitch? Is it?â
Her mind instantly went to Allison. In the past, Verruckt might have disliked her, but he never would have let her die like this. But her words went unanswered.
Verruckt was already outside, giving commands. âBurn it down.â
âYes, Mr. Shaw.â
Jareth threw two firebombs into the cold storage. The special gases inside helped the flames spread quickly. The heat was unbearable. Fiona screamed in pain.
