Chapter 846:
She rested a hand on her stomach, her voice laden with sorrow. âI could even end this pregnancy since it wasnât planned with love.â
Melany knew the child was her last leverage. She played another card, her voice breaking. âI just feel sorry for Lindy. Sheâs always wanted a grandchild. Please, apologize to her for meâ¦â
Coltonâs heart sank with the weight of her words. âYou donât have to go to such lengths. Iâll take responsibility for our child.â
He knew Lindyâs fury would be boundless if the pregnancy was terminated, not to mention that the unborn child was innocent. He couldnât bring himself to end the unborn life.
âAre you really giving me another chance?â Melanyâs voice was hopeful yet resigned. âI promise to make things right once the baby is born,â she vowed, tears streaming down her face.
But Coltonâs response was icy. âIf the baby is born healthy, Iâll give you four million as a settlement for the divorce.â
Coltonâs tone was icy and distant. âAnd Allison and I will raise the baby together,â he said.
Melany was almost too shocked to process his words. Had Colton completely lost his senses? He actually intended for that vile woman to help raise their child? And judging by his tone, he seemed to be rekindling his relationship with Allison!

She stared at him, frozen in disbelief. âColton, how could you betray me like this? This is too much!â she shouted.
Melanyâs anger surged, making her chest ache and her hands tremble. For years, manipulating men had always been second nature to her. But now, she had hit a dead end and had no choice but to try to turn things around.
âColton, weâve been through so much together,â she pleaded. âI canât imagine my life without you. Yes, Iâve made mistakes, but does that mean Iâm beyond forgiveness? Would you really take my child away from me?â
Colton, however, wasnât swayed by her tears. âIf my mother knew the truth about you,â he said coldly, âsheâd never let you remain part of the Stevens family. You know how she is.â
Melanyâs chest tightened even more. He wasnât wrong. If Lindy ever found out she was pregnant, this selfish woman would probably fight to keep the baby while cutting her out of the picture completely. But Melany had bigger problems. The real battle was keeping Colton and Allison apart. If they stayed close, her chances would be gone forever.
âColton, we can argue all we want, but Lindy is unwell right now,â Melany said, her tone pleading. âCan we keep this from her for now? Iâm afraid itâll be too much for her to handle.â
Melany clutched her chest, her movements desperate and full of despair. âAt least wait until we pick up the medicine from Fleeingland Lab tomorrow,â she added. âLetâs deal with her headaches first.â
