Chapter 942:
Allison squeezed his hand. âMm.â
The phrase âgo homeâ had once felt like an empty promise. As a child in the orphanage, she had never understood what âhomeâ truly meant. Even after she married Colton, he was rarely ever home.
In her three years of marriage, Allison had never known the comfort of a loving home.
But now, with Kellan by her side, she felt it â a place where her heart could finally rest.
Twenty minutes later, Allison and Kellan reached the Lloyd family home. The first person to greet them was Floyd. âAllison, youâve finally come back,â he said warmly.
Floyd had been making regular trips to the Lloyd house to care for Kinslee. In truth, though, he had also been eager for a chance to see Allison sooner than expected. Now that she was standing before him, a gentle smile spread across his face.
âHow was your trip to Vrining?â he asked.
âIt was wonderful. I saw so many stunning places,â Allison replied, her tone bright with curiosity. âHow is Kinslee doing these days?â
âSheâs doing very well, just as I told you on the phone,â Floyd answered. As he spoke, he acted as though Kellan, standing silently by her side, didnât exist.

A faint shift in Floydâs expression betrayed his thoughts for a split second. When Allison had abruptly ended their call earlier, he had clearly heard the quiet sound of Kellanâs laughter in the background. As a man himself, it didnât take much effort to piece together what might have been happening. Still, Floyd kept his usual calm and gentle composure.
âKinslee is now able to regain clarity for two to three hours a day. Thatâs already a big step forward,â he said smoothly.
After giving this update, he turned his gaze, as though just now noticing Kellanâs presence. âMr. Lloyd, would you like to visit Kinslee first?â he asked politely.
Floyd couldnât ignore the obvious. Allisonâs trip to Vrining likely wasnât just about taking in the sights. And from the way she and Kellan interacted now, it was clear they shared somethingâa bond that excluded him entirely.
âOf course,â Kellan replied with ease. âI was just about to go see Grandma with Allison.â
âBy the way, Dr. Pierce, thank you for everything youâve done for Grandma,â he said smoothly. âWeâll make sure youâre rewarded generouslyâten times overâas a small gesture of our appreciation.â
âThereâs no need for that,â Floyd replied, pushing his gold-rimmed glasses up the bridge of his nose. âIâm simply doing my job as a doctor. More than that, I want Allison to beâ¦â
âHappy. This has nothing to do with moneyâor you, for that matter.â The two men locked eyes, an undercurrent of tension flickering between them.
âDr. Pierce, I wonât take up more of your time,â Kellan said, his tone calm but dismissive. âIâm sure you have other matters to attend to.â As he spoke, Kellan casually slipped an arm around Allisonâs waist, glancing at Floyd with a lazy, almost taunting expression.
