Chapter 948:
âOuchââ Kellan let out a soft groan, a small smile tugging at his lips. âThatâs a real shame,â he said.
Then he handed her a towel and some fresh clothes. âIâll take a shower in the next room. You must be exhausted after today, so get some rest once youâre done,â he told her.
The dayâs journey had drained her.
Allison nodded and said, âOkay, see you later.â
She really needed a hot shower to ease her tiredness at this moment.
As she stepped into the bathroom, the steam began to fill the room, and her stiff muscles slowly started to loosen. The water rushed soothingly.
She glanced down at the marks on her body from Verrucktâs attack. They were nearly healed now, but the feeling of danger from that man still clung to her like a shadow.
Her mood turned serious all of a sudden. Even though the newspapers claimed the laboratoryâs owner was dead, Verrucktâs body had never been shown to the public. If he were still alive, he would surely cause trouble in the future.
âNever mind, itâs no use worrying about that,â she muttered to herself.
Allison took a deep breath. She had already left Fleeingland and arrived in Ontdale. Even if Verruckt were alive, he would likely be in bad shape by now. After all, the attacks she had made on him back then had been deadly.

As Allison stepped out of the bathroom, her phone rang.
âDarling Allison! Did you make it home today?â
âYes, Iâm at the Lloyd house now,â Allison replied.
âWow, things are moving fast between you two,â came Rebeccaâs surprised response.
Allison smiled. âThen what about you? Howâs everything with Ferdinand?â
âDonât even get me started on him. Itâs so frustrating!â Rebecca complained.
Over the phone, she went on to vent about Ferdinandâs annoying habits. âItâs all his fault. Heâs been feeding me so much. Iâll probably gain weight again by tomorrowâ¦â
Despite the complaints, Allison could hear the happiness in her voice.
Before hanging up, Rebecca sighed. âIâm so glad youâre back. I felt so lonely without anyone to talk to.â
âI guess you wonât be lonely for long,â Allison said with a smile, opening her laptop to catch up on work.
On the other end, Rebecca could hear the clicking of keys and the mouse.
Thinking Allison was busy, Rebecca took the lead and said, âDarling Allison, donât stay up too late. Get some rest soon. Iâm heading to bed myself.â
âOkay,â Allison replied, âIâll sleep soon.â
But after hanging up, she knew she couldnât go to bed soon, as the work was still piling up like a mountain.
Recalling the news from Kinslee, Allison decided to call Amya. âWhen you have a moment, take a look at the Hackerâs World program. Iâll be restarting it in a few days.â
