Chapter 970:
âAllison, I cherish you too,â he said.
Without her, he might have stayed lost in darkness for a lifetime. The greatest gift fate had given him was the chance to change. Kellan gently lifted her hand and pressed his lips to her fingers.
âIâll always be the sharpest sword in your hand, no matter what,â he promised.
Allisonâs fingers were cold, but they soon warmed under his kiss. She looked at him, tilting her head innocently, and asked, âSo, does that mean Iâm the executioner?â
Kellan smiled softly. âDonât worry, Iâll do it for you and wonât let you get your hands dirty.â
Allison grinned, her eyes turning into gentle crescents. The heaviness in her heart slowly began to fade.
âBy the way, Melany is pregnant.â Allison briefly told him about what had happened at the Stevensâ house that day. âBut Colton plans to divorce her after the baby is born. He wants me to help him raise the child.â As she spoke, a hint of mockery appeared in her expression.
Kellan let out a bitter laugh. âWho does he think he is?â

But before he could say more, Allison raised a finger to her lips, signaling for silence.
âWait, someoneâs nearby.â Her face hardened in an instant. Allison was sure she had heard strange sounds coming from behind the ruins.
Kellan, however, didnât pick up on it.
âI only hear the wind,â he said.
âThereâs wind, but somethingâs blocking it,â Allison replied, her voice tense.
Having spent years on the island, she had become acutely sensitive to her surroundings, as every detail was burned into her memory.
In an instant, she sensed something was off.
âSomeoneâs coming,â she warned.
Her brows furrowed in concern. They were getting closer!
Just as she and Kellan were about to move, about ten men in black appeared from behind the ruins, their guns aimed at Allison.
âThe boss was right. He knew you would come back here eventually, Ms. Clarke,â a tall man said, lifting his gun. âGive us the key to Hackerâs World, and maybe Iâll spare you both.â
Allison had heard this threat countless times, so she wasnât surprised or scared at all. She knew well that they wouldnât make a move without getting the key first.
âIâll give it to you,â she said nonchalantly, exchanging a quick look with Kellan.
