Chapter 986:
âSweetheart, which one do you think looks best on me?â
Allison studied the options for a moment, looking uncertain.
At the same time, Kellan looked down on her while scanning the room. âAnything would be an improvement over how you look now. I think number three looks good.â
The doctor got the message.
He realized that once the woman had the surgery, the man would likely drop her without a second thought.
That thought made him feel at ease.
It seemed this high-paying client was here to stay.
While texting the people from Shadow Nine, he glanced at Kellan. âSir, you do have great taste. This is our priciest option, and also the most complicated.â
Allisonâs face tightened with worry. âIs there any risk?â
âNone at all,â the doctor reassured her. âDonât worry, our hospital can handle the surgery. Although, it will be quite expensive.â
Finally, getting to the point, Allison felt a bit of relief.

She pretended to ask nervously, âHow much will it cost?â
âA hundred and eighty thousand dollars.â
This was a shockingly high price.
In truth, the procedure wouldnât cost nearly that much.
But the doctor was worried that if he gave a lower quote and Kellan could afford it, his plan would fall through.
Sure enough, as soon as Allison heard the amount, tears started to fill her eyes.
âI donât have that much. Darling, could youâ¦?â
Kellan impatiently swatted her hand away. âDonât expect me to pay for you. Figure it out yourself before you come back to me! Iâm the only one who doesnât care about how you look, but at least try to be prettier!â
After delivering his final line, Kellan turned and left.
He played the part of the tight-fisted man who refused to pay.
But deep down, he was struggling to control his murderous intent.
For this damned loan shark, he had to reject Allisonâs hand!
Once he got his hands on the boss, Kellan would make him regret it.
Meanwhile, Allison stayed in the consulting room, still playing her part.
âIâm sorry,â she said quietly, her face filled with regret. âI donât have enough money. Iâve wasted your time.â
As she turned to leave, the doctor quickly called after her. âWait!â
He licked his lips, his eyes focused on her like a hunter tracking its prey.
