Chapter 13: Part 13

Silver Ridge High was like every other high school I'd ever been to—except for the fact that it was packed with wolves.

We walked through the hallways with a quiet confidence, heads held high as eyes followed our every move. My pack was different from anything these wolves had ever seen. We didn't care about fitting in. We cared about strength, about survival.

But there was something more pressing on my mind than the curious stares.

The moment we entered the school, I felt the change in the air. The heavy pull of power that stirred something deep within me. I couldn't explain it, but I could sense it

And then, just as we were making our way to the first class, I saw him .

He was standing by the locker, talking to a group of students who seemed to be hanging on every word he said. His smile was easy, disarming. But the power radiated from him like a force field.

I watched for a moment, intrigued.

Then, he turned, his eyes locking onto mine across the hallway.

And just like that, the world seemed to stop.

Everything clicked into place.

I knew.

He was my second-chance mate.

And I couldn't look away.

After class

The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. I found myself standing in the parking lot with Kian and Nova, talking about the day's classes, but my mind kept drifting.

He had disappeared after first period, but I felt his presence, like he was watching me.

"He's staring at you, Rae," Nova said with a sly grin, nudging my arm.

I turned, my heart racing. Sure enough, There he was leaning against his truck, his gaze locked on mine. He gave me a small nod, almost as if he was waiting for me to make the next move.

I couldn't help but smile back.

There was a pull, an undeniable magnetism between us. I couldn't explain it, but it was there.

''His names Luca,'' Kian whispered, teasing me as she caught me slightly  staring

"We should go talk to him," Kian suggested, nudging me forward.

I hesitated, then nodded. "Let's go."

As we approached him, Luca pushed off the truck and straightened up, his smile widening. " ahh the famous Rae," he said, his voice low and smooth, "I wasn't sure you'd make the first move."

I raised an eyebrow. "You expect me to chase you?"

He laughed, a deep, rich sound that sent a shiver down my spine. "Not at all. I'm just trying to figure out who you really are."

"And what's that supposed to mean?"

Luca's gaze darkened, his smirk turning into something more serious. "I'm not the only one who feels this, Rae. You know exactly what I mean."

I swallowed, the weight of his words settling in.

Something was changing, something that neither of us could deny.

But as I stood there, staring into his eyes, I knew that the real question was not about what we felt for each other. It was about what we were going to do with it.

And whether the bond between us was strong enough to survive the chaos that was bound to follow.
