After enjoying a delicious lunch, I finally retreated to my room, relishing the familiar comfort it provided. Opening the window, the pure breeze of Jaisalmer filled the room, inspiring me to redecorate the space. I looked at my room and started to think about how to redo it ..then only I heard a voice behind me ...
"Mahi," I heard a voice behind me. It was Sakshi di...I looked at her and smiled..
"Di, what's up?" I asked, curious about her sudden appearance. She looked at me and give me a small smile...I looked at her briefly and she came up to me and sat beside me ...
"I have something important to tell you," she said, a mix of excitement and apprehension in her tone...oh now I am curious ..what is it ? Is everything all right with her I thought..
"What is it?" I inquired, sensing the gravity of her word sand patiently waiting on what sheet Has to tell me ..
"Well, since you've been away, a lot has changed. I fell in love with somebody .. " i looked at her .. shocked ... " How " i said still curious to know how and what happened...
"I met someone in Delhi, and we started talking .. Firstly it all started with a coffee you know. . I knew the first time i saw him i want him .. i want him for me...then we started to meet more frequently and then one day he confessed that he likes me and eventually we fell in love," she confessed in a rush.
"Wait, what?" I exclaimed, my emotions swirling as I processed her news. Our father didn't approve of love marriages, especially across castes.I know my dad ..he is never going to approve this marriage...and that too love ..but really what wonders me how can Sakshi di fell in love ..she is so smart ..she knows all the reasons that she can face of she ever wants to love marriage .. there must be something in this guy that di fell in love with him.. I was lost in my thoughts when
"mahhi ..." I saw di patting on my shoulder .. "what happened " she asked looking at me confusingly.."Nothing nothing .. I was just listening to your part that's it .." I said .. "say something Mahi..something about this situation " she said confusingly..
"I know Papa won't be happy about it," I said, concern creeping into my voice.
"That's what worries me," di replied, her expression reflecting her unease. I am so curious to see sakshi's di lover ...I want to see him...
"What's his name? Can I see his picture?" I asked, trying to grasp the situation. "His name is Siddharth Saxena," she revealed, and my eyes widened as I connected the dots.
"Siddharth Saxena... Saxena," I repeated, realizing the potential complications. "Di you know na ..even if you want to marry that guy, this marriage will be intercast only..Di looked at me guiltily, aware of the challenges ahead.
"But now Mahi..what should I do" Sakshi di asked .. "Nothing my sister.. you have to gain some patience ..We will talk about it with our father and mother ....or if you want i can also talk about it" i said .. she nodded at me and just then I look behind it was mom ..
why she is here..I got scared if she heard anything ..I looked at Sakshi di ...she looked at me nervously ... "Sakshi what are you doing?"... mom said .. Di got worried and she stammered ..."ii .. i wwwas-- she was stammering like anything. ..
I held her hand .. mom looked at us confusingly ..."cmon Sakshi go get ready .." she said .. then she continued.. I looked at my mom confused.. why all of a sudden she is saying di to get ready ..
"Sakshi, we need to go shopping. They're coming tomorrow evening to see you," Mom announced, entering the room...coming to see Sakshi di ... who the hell are visiting our place.. and why they want to see sakshi di .. I thought ...
"Who?" I asked, bewildered by the sudden turn of events. Mom looked surprised...she looked at Sakshi di .. "You haven't told her yet ?" Mom questioned her ... i looked at he her and realized that really something is there that Sakshi hadn't told me yet. Sakshi di trying very hard to not laugh .. i am still so confused like whats happening ... " What is happening mom .. di whats going on .." i asked curious ...
" Mom are you going to say her or should i " Sakshi di said to mom ... My mom hushed .." I am already bored with you two arguing ... well mahi .." mom said taking a pose ... " Whatt.." i asked
"Well, your sister is getting married soon," Mom revealed.
I stared at Sakshi in shock, only to realize she was teasing me. "You... I hate you," I exclaimed, both relieved and annoyed by the prank.
"So my jiju is Siddharth Saxena?" I asked excitedly. "Yes," she confirmed with a smile. "But how did you convince Papa?" I wondered aloud.
"I didn't. Sid did," she confessed, her happiness evident..Really is this true ... that's great..a lot of things are changed and i am really happy about it .. I am glad Sakshi do able to convince Papa for the love marriage.. maybe it will paved the way for me as well...but right now I am totally fine .. I am not looking for anyone as of now .. I like being single .. you have plenty of time for yourself and you can focus on many things. This is the major pro of being single...
" I am still in shock.. How dad got ready for love marriage .." i said ... " I know right ... thats what made me fall in love with him even more ... Mahi he is such a caring guy .. he really respects me a lot.. respects my family a lot... Dad and him really get along well.. Even i was shocked when dad said yes to the marriage .." she said ..
I smiled at her ... " Then?" i asked .." Well nothing .. his dad and our dad met with each other... and already planned everything for the wedding and all ... Thats why i was texting you so much to come back .. Because i wanted to give you a surprise..." she said
"When's the wedding?" I asked eagerly, realizing the limited time I had left with my sister and shopping time at its peak now..
"Next week. We have a lot of preparations to do," Mom chimed in, leaving us to process the news. What next week she is getting married .. oh my god .. only a week is left .. I looked at her and smiled .. I know tears are already there on my eyes ... "aww Mahi..my baby" she knows what I am feeling and she came up to me and hugged me ..
"I can't believe you're getting married," I said, hugging Sakshi tightly. She hugged me back, and in that moment, I wished her eternal happiness. " I know Mahi you always wish for us. .you wish for our family. For our goodness .. you are like everything to me " she said
"I want you to be happy always," I whispered. "I know, my baby," she replied, kissing my cheeks. Then she went out of the room .. Wow I came back from my studies and I got to know that my only real sister is leaving house.
As I absorbed the reality of her impending marriage, a mix of emotions flooded my heart. Its okay Mahi ... She is so happy with this .. May god bless her with more happiness...
