Chapter 67// "Grayson, when where you going to tell me?"
Elliott and I walk through the crowd in the airport as we look for Daniel and Winter.
To my current knowledge, I don't think either of them knew about Elliott's proposal, so this meeting may be the slightest bit awkward. Elliott twirls his earring in his finger as he looks for them in the crowd. It was a habit that I also had when I was nervous.
"There, over there," Elliott tells me as he points in the direction of someone with long ginger hair. Yup, that was Winter.
She waves when she sees the both of us, and I wave back with my right hand as I hold back my left.
We still had a while left till the plane was going to take off, so we were going to go get something to eat because you know, we don't do anything else anyway.
"Wait I have something to tell you both" Elliott stops the both of them from walking in the direction of KFC.
Daniel looks at me confused and then back up to Elliott. I was trying to hold myself back from laughing.
"I proposed to Cress, last night, " Elliott says all in one breath. It was like he had been holding in this breath since we had arrived at the airport.
"We're engaged" I tell them both bringing my left hand out and seeing the ring gleam in the light.
Winter gasps and then squeals and pulls me in for a hug. Eventually, she pulls back and it looked like she was going to start bouncing up and down.
"That's it someone get me an Elliott, I'm willing to pay any price " Winter says out loud in all seriousness.
I look up at Daniel who was watching me carefully.
"Daniel..." I begin but he cuts me off.
"Are you happy?" He asks gently in the most brotherly fashion.
And that's when I can't hold back the bright smile any longer "I couldn't be happier"
"Actually you could, if we were married right now" Elliott points out. "And I'm also not happy because they don't have a bloody McDonalds here"
"So you're not angry or anything" I ask Daniel as we all ignore Elliott's complains about the food.
"Nah I've known about it for ages. You really think Elliott wouldn't tell me? Except Elliott told me he was going to propose to you at prom"
"At prom. How cliché" I look at Elliott who was probably trying to come up with something to say that made him sound all tough and cool.
"I just didn't imagine Elliott would ever propose to a girl ever. I don't think anyone ever imagined that" Daniel shrugs.
"I'm full of surprises" Elliott adds. I really hope not.
"Wait who else knew?" I ask him now suddenly curious.
"Well, of course, Alec, Aiden, Carter, and Conner" He stops just before Conner's name and I hear his voice waver.
"And your dad, I thought you would want to tell your mom yourself and my mom doesn't know either but my dad does" Elliott explains.
"My dad knows?" I ask raising an eyebrow, now this was a story I wanted to hear and by the look on Elliott's face it didn't go too smoothly.
"Yes, he's been in town for the past while so just thought I would ask for his blessing. Though I didn't really care about his response"
"You should have seen dad's face Cress, I think he went purple. But what dad wouldn't? His 18-year-old daughter was getting engaged to a delinquent"
I was quite surprised to hear Daniel was there when Elliott asked but it figures cause when Elliott and I weren't together, Daniel and Elliott usually were.
"He started shouting at me telling me there was no way in hell until..." Elliott stops and Daniel continues his sentence.
"...Until he remembered that Elliott is the son of his best friend. I always forget that our fathers even know each other?"
"Not when I was in New York. They were always near each other then" Elliott replies. "Now let's get some food before I die" Elliott over exaggerates.
"I'm going to get married to a fat man"
"Please Dawson, I'm always going to be this hot"
*
"So tell me the story again" Emily sighs dreamily as she stares off into space.
"Emily I've told you this story like 10 times" I laugh at her as I twirl around the ring on my fourth finger.
It had one big circular diamond with lots of other diamonds around the rim on the ring. How Elliott got hold of this ring I'll never know.
"I could write a book about you two. You legit have the cutest love story ever" Emily tells me.
Really I never thought we were that cute?
"I'm like in love with you two" Winter tells me.
"Oh I have something for you" I tell them both, as I dig into my bag and take out to envelopes and hand it to them.
They both open if curiously.
"Fuck what people think because I can have 2 of them" I tell them both smugly.
"You need to hold up my dress for me when I pee! So will you be my maid of honor" Winter read out loud. They both look up at me in shock.
"Who said you can't have two maids of honor. I know it's super early but I need you two to help me plan everything"
I look at both their faces for some sorts of reply expect they both topple on top of me in a poor attempt of a hug.
"Come on let's watch Cress's girl smash this football game" Emily says being the first one to get up.
It was the final of the football season in our school. Well, not exactly our school's football field seeing as that is being redone after the fire.
Instead, we were at the rivalry school's football pitch which was practically the same anyways.
My heart ached for Elliott to win, for all the boys to win. They always came second but it was true that second was the worst place you can get.
Because you were so close yet not good enough.
This was Elliott's last time playing competitive football, he said it was too hard to get into a sports school and maybe it was the fact he was completely in love with all forms of math.
Then he also had his father's business to one day run, so he felt there was no time for football.
I found this quite disappointing seeing as he did have a talent for the sport but it was his choice in the end.
It was the last couple of weeks before we graduated from high school and I know I should be excited but something inside me never wanted to leave this place. School felt like a safe place.
So Elliott was off to a University around 2 hours away from our home. Elliott and Daniel together.
Then I was going to go to University to study aeronautical engineering. Everyone always looked stunned at me when I said that, their usual reply was.
'But you're a girl'
Turns out the university that Elliott and Daniel applied for was my second choice university as it specialized in math and engineering.
How continent.
My fit choice university was in London and to be honest I don't think I ever had the balls to move to London.
So Elliot was now looking for an apartment closer to the university for the both of us as we weren't going to be staying in the dorms. Daniel though was actually looking forward to living in the dorms.
"So have you both spoken about kids?" Emily asks.
"Emily I'm 18 years old I'm not looking to have kids for a very long time"
"But you and Elliott are both sexually active it can just happen"
I blush at her comment.
"You are aren't you, you and Elliott both had sex?" Winter shouts. Well, that's great; let's let the whole of Northwest High know that Elliott and I had sex.
So Winter and Emily weren't really concerned about me having kids they just wanted to know about Elliott and I's sexual life.
"When?" Emily demands.
"The first night of Paris" I blush.
"My girl's all grown up" Winter pout as if she was some sort of mother.
"So what about you and Daniel" Emily shoves Winter.
"It's not going to work, he's moving away and I'm staying here. And it's like he can't stick to one girl" She sighs. She was trying to sound like she didn't care at all but that look in her eye told me that she cared very much.
"But wait... seeing as Elliott and you are now a couple. Aren't you scared of Aaron" Emily asks, I could tell she was curious and she was also trying to take the subject away from Winter.
It wasn't something I hadn't thought about. It was something that was eating me up on the inside.
"No, Elliott will always be there to protect me" I tell them both. As it was true Elliott and I were together now and I know he would never leave my side and would protect me from anything.
"Hi, Crescent I... We'd like to congratulate you on your engagement"
I look up startled at the voice, it was a bunch of Aribella's minions.
"Em... Thanks" I reply.
"We're also sorry for everything in the past and we hope you can forgive us" She continues.
I was to dumbfound to reply with anything smart "Sure"
She settles by sitting next to me with her little gang. Well, there goes our private conversation.
""I always imagined Elliot becoming a frat boy if he even got into uni, let alone be engaged" A brunette perks up from behind the blonde that was just talking to me.
"Elliott's actually really smart'' I tell them. People always assume so much shit.
"Yeh I know I heard he got into that uni, you know the one where all the geniuses go," Another one says.
"I heard he had to get lots of help to get in and it also helps that his father is who he is" The blonde one says again.
"Actually I think you're mistaken" I tell them, as I glare at the lot of them. "Daniel was the one who needed lots of recommendations. Elliott applied and he got a place, simple as that"
My tone with them was harsh, but they didn't seem to realize. Do they not understand that they are unwanted here?
"Are you not scared Elliott's going to cheat on you?"
I look at the girl open mouthed who just asked the question.
"Oh look the games beginning" The blonde says over excitedly finally making everyone shut up.
Our rivalry team had always one, but this year I just hoped the guys had all trained hard enough to win.
*
I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat as I gripped on to it.
There were even. All they needed was one more point. One more freaking point.
Everyone was shouting that you couldn't hear a word.
People began standing up to watch and I did so as well so I could get a decent view.
A roar goes through the crowd as our team had the ball. It was Conner who had the ball as he ran with all his might to the goals but there was no chance he was going to make it. The other guys were far too close to him.
There was only one person in enough for Conner to throw the ball to.
I see Conner look at Elliott with open arms and I don't know if anyone else catches the hesitation in Conner's movement but I do.
I can only guess why Conner hesitated maybe because Conner was the team captain and he wanted to score. Or maybe because he believes that Elliott always gets everything.
Nevertheless, Conner still passes to Elliott and of course Elliott scores.
I uproar runs through the crowd as our whole school stands up to clap for them.
They won.
They actually won.
I'm on my feet clapping, and I see his eyes look for me in the crowd, I wave in his direction and when he sees me it's like his whole face lights up.
I run down with the rest of the crowd, of course, Elliott would be surrounded by people, he got the winning goals.
"Hey Crescent"
I spin around to see Conner; he looked all sweaty and out of breath after that game.
"Hi Conner" I smile at him. It was the way that Conner looked at you that made shivers run down everyone's spine.
"Congratulations, you know on getting engaged" He tells me. His words were kind but for some reason, I felt like they were hard for him to say.
"Conner I'm sorry"
"Don't be, I just wanted to congratulate you. And you want to know something, see that look on Elliott's face" He points over to Elliott who is smiling like an idiot as he is surrounded by a crowd of people.
"That look on Elliott's makes me happy as one of my best friend's is the happiest he's ever been. He deserves it, he deserves you."
"Conner if things were different" I could just see the hurt within him, but there was nothing I could ever do about it. "There will be someone out there for you"
"You make it sound like you want me to get with some sort of alien" He adds which makes me laugh.
But Conner you are an alien, to everyone.
"Dawson" I hear Elliott calling my name through the crowd.
"You better go, your fiancé is calling you" Conner tells me and before I can say anything back to him he's walking away from me.
I run up to Elliott and jump into his arms.
"You won" I tell him.
"You know when I was playing today I remembered something"
"What?" I ask Elliott.
"It was last year when we had our mid-season game and I was doing shit and you promised me blowjob"
I'm sure I remembered the story a little differently.
"Grayson, when where you going to tell me?" Coaches voice booms through the field. A lot of people stop to see what was going on.
The smile on Elliott's face instantly drops.
"You think I wouldn't find out" The coach shouts.
Then his features soften and he actually smiles. Coach actually smiles.
"So you're The Quarterback's Girl. The Quarterback and the cheerleader?"
"Yes sir" Elliott replies.
"Well then I better have an invite to this wedding then"
"Your number 1 on my list coach" Elliott's gives him a thumbs up.
"Now about that blowjob" Elliott says bringing up that topic again.
Author note:
Well, this is probably the worst chapter in this book. Like where is the drama? I'm so disappointed in myself.
But no need to worry the drama will come soon.
Also have just uploaded a chapter at the very end of this book, that is a shortened version of Conner's story. That part of the story belongs here but I thought I should just add it in the end. You can check it out now or at the end of the book, I must warn you, it's not a happy story.
