Riya's Pov
"I'll show first." He stated, "Let me just bring it" Muttering, he got up from the bed, towards the dressing room.
Opening the cupboard, he began shuffling his clothes and took out a rectangular box, gracefully covered in floral gift wrap.
He sauntered towards the bed all the time eyeing the gift, though his nervousness could clearly be felt with the way he walked.
Extending the box towards me, he peered at me with hopeful eyes, and spoke, "Here.", and added immediately,
"Uh, It's a very simple gift and I really don't know that you would like it or not, but seeing them I got reminded of you, so bought it. I know it's nothing extravagant, it's quite plain and simple, nothing too costly, but I couldn't think of anything else..." He kept blabbering non-stop, while I giggled silently, as I began opening the gift wrap painfully slow, just to tease him a little.
I love teasing a nervous Aditya!
He stopped babbling midway, and looked at me incredulously the moment he took notice of my antics, "Oye! stop playing with me."
He chided, narrowing his eyes at me, "Chal open kar ab, messing up with your brand new husband Abhi se." He muttered, his lips quirked up a little in an amused smile, and shook his head, while I chuckled at my brand new husband's comment.
A broad grin made its place on my face, as soon as I unwrapped the gift, and glanced at my husband who was already gazing at me with expectant eyes.
"They are so beautiful." I gushed brightly, looking at the different pieces of jhumkas, each of different sizes, and designs, delicately placed in the wooden box.
"You like it na pakka?" He confirmed, and added, "Uh, they aren't real silver, but I just liked them for you, and thought it would suit you, hence decided it as a gift." He clarified consciously and shrugged in dismissal.
"I love them." I whispered softly, and smiled at him. Looking at the gift box in my hand, I asked, "How did you guess that I'll like them?"
"Uh.." Scratching his neck, he voiced, "In the past two months, whenever I had video called you when you were out somewhere, I have seen you wearing little jhumkis and no other piece of jewelry. And also, in almost all those pictures you'd send me of you, you had worn jhumkas. So yeah, just guessed from there, that you adore them."
Playing with the jhumkas, he continued, "You know I was so confused that what type should I purchase, there were so many designs and varieties, so I just analyzed the pattern of jhumkas you wear from all your photos and purchased these." He stuck his tongue out, a little embarrassed.
I laughed at his words and his talent for analyzing jhumka styles, "Thank You. I loved them. All of them." I confessed, admiring the elegant piece of jhumkas my husband chose for me, and silently admired his thoughtfulness.
"My gift now." He demanded immediately, opening his palm, and eyed me eagerly.
"Wait." I stood up from the bed and looked here and there for my bag which was brought here today.
"Where's my black bag? The medium-sized one?" I asked Aditya.
"In the cupboard. Right side, the bottom rack." He replied, after thinking for few seconds.
Nodding I opened the cupboard, and grabbed my bag, and took out my gift for him. Taking slow, unrushed steps, I strode towards him and handed him the gift after sitting on the bed.
God! My turn to get nervous!
"Open it." I said politely, and nodding he started opening the printed gift wrapper, whereas I kept tapping my foot incessantly on the floor.
"Oye stop doing it." He patted my hands irritated, making my movement come to a halt. "Open it fast then." I scowled.

Aditya's Pov
I opened her gift eagerly, as it was her first gift for me. Though I knew whatever she would choose, I'll love it, no matter what it is.
The moment I uncovered the gift, Mine and Riya's photo came into my view, the first photo of us, which we clicked right after our Roka, in bhaiya bhabhi's room.
Happiness trembled inside me when I realized she is the one who made the photo frame looking at the mirror ornaments, threads, origami paper, and what not and this happiness increased multifold when my eyes went to the bottom of the frame, as I whisper read,
The First of all our Firsts.
My eyes immediately went to the woman in front, who had her eyes fixated on me, biting her lips in anticipation.
"Uh, it was our first photo together, and it's the first gift from me to you. So it's the first for all our uh upcoming firsts." She clarified on her own, carefully switching her eyes between me and the gift.
"It's beautiful, the picture, your efforts, this line, everything. I don't have words.." I smiled, speechless and clueless about what else to say, that would justify the happiness she has given me.
Standing up from the bed, I set the frame on my office table, right at the side of my laptop, so that each time I cross this place, her photo would come into the line of my vision. I looked at the frame, a serene smile gracing my lips, and turned around, to see my wife looking at the photo frame with sheer adoration.
"Okay, now let's open what Purva and Rishabh gifted. Remember they'd given two gifts? The one they asked to open in person. Let's open that." She said suddenly, excited, while I internally facepalmed, as I knew those two buffoons couldn't be trusted in this department of private gifts.
"Let's open tomorrow? Come sleep now, you must be tired." I tried to convince her.
"No. now only. It will hardly take five minutes." She shook her head vehemently, a little annoyed scowl on her face.
Defeated, I muttered, "Fine." and picked their gift from the office table.
Sitting cross-legged she stared at the gift excitedly, "Chalo open it fast."
Has she forgotten who Purva is? And what she can do? Or she has forgotten who she is married to?
"I'll see first." I declared, very well knowing her stubborn-headed nature.
"No." She frowned, "Together!." She stated, raising her brow challengingly as if daring me to defy her.
Sighing deeply, I grumbled sulkily, "Fine"
The moment I opened the gift wrap, a gasp escaped her lips, as she looked away flustered, her eyes tightly shut in embarrassment.
Told her!
Now suffer. Stubborn-head. Impatient-overly excited woman!
Within the box, men's protection resided proudly in all the possible flavors and varieties, along with a little note stuck inside.
We do not plan on becoming Mossa-massi/ Chachu-chachi so soon.
Hence,
Protection before Consummation.
Enjoy!
Sighing in annoyance I closed the box shut, and sneaked a glance at Riya, the air amidst us awkward suddenly.
"Hey." I whispered politely.
"I'll kill Purva as soon as I see her." She mumbled grumpily, an embarrassed look marred on her face.
Chuckling, I assured, "Relax. You know them. They are just bluffing and teasing us. It's normal."
"Hmm." She gazed at me, lips sets in a thin line.
"Arey why are you taking them seriously, we both know na that we have our whole life for physical intimacy? So, let's work on the emotional intimacy part amidst us? Hmm?" I asked, more like assured her.
"Yeah." She answered, smiling lightly.
"Han, so stop being so awkward and uncomfortable now." I chided playfully, and added, "Chal ab change karle." I told, seeing the time in my mobile.
"Okay." She got up from the bed, and roamed her eyes in all the possible corners of the room, "Uh, Where's my luggage? The maroon one?"
"Wait." Saying I bent, and took out the bag which was kept under the bed.
"Here." Opening it, she shuffled with the contents and picked out her stuff, while till then I arranged the bed and the quilts, as I was already in my t-shirt and shorts.
Almost fifteen minutes later she came back from the washroom, wearing a simple blue colored night suit.
"Left or Right?" I asked, pointing towards the side of the bed.
"Any. Because either way the side is new to me." She shrugged, hanging the night suit on my office chair.
"Okay, you take the right one then." I mumbled, while she nodded, settling down on the bed, simultaneously applying some lotion on her hands.
We both laid down at our respective positions, a decent distance amidst us. After a silence of almost two minutes, I finally spoke,
"Good night." I spoke, looking at her, my eyes tired.
"Good night." She answered, smiling lightly at me.
I switched off the lights and closed my eyes after reminiscing the day's events until sleep engulfed me in a deep and peaceful slumber.
*******
Why the hell is Kunal dancing on the bed, that too in the middle of the night?
It has been almost five minutes since my half-asleep self began feeling extreme tossing and turning on the bed. Frustrated, I turned towards the right to give some necessary scolding to the brother beside me.
"What the hell Kun.." I stopped midway looking at the source in front.
Hain?
The moment my eyes fell on the woman beside, realization hit me, that it's not my brother but my overly energetic wife who was busy tossing and turning on the bed with her big-fat scowl and furrowed eyebrows at the display which could clearly be seen in the moonlight as well. She kept drawing frustrated sighs time and again, with her face marred in sheer annoyance.
"What happened?" I asked, perplexed, switching on the lights.
"I can't sleep." she whined, partially grimacing.
"Why? You need anything?"
"No. I can't sleep at new places. I am used to sleeping in my room, on my bed, and on my side. And I know, in no case I can sleep tonight." She voiced, her voice tired.
How the hell can I bring her room, her bed, and her side here?
Before I could comprehend what do I need to utter, she voiced again,
"You sleep, I'll manage." As much as the offer of sleeping seemed tempting, and my exhausted, half-asleep self screaming inside to just forget everything and sleep, my heart decided otherwise.
"Arey atleast try to sleep." I tried convincing her.
Throwing a glare in my direction, she taunted, "You are on your bed, on your side, at your home, and in your city. Not me! So No! I am not going to try anything."
Rolling my eyes inwardly, I shifted a little towards her and laid on my stomach, while she kept laying on her back just beside me.
"Let's talk." I announced, and she looked at me incredulously and roamed her eyes here and there until her eyes fell on the wall clock.
"At 12:30 midnight, you want to talk?" She confirmed, unbelievingly.
Shrugging, I spoke sarcastically, "You can't sleep, and I'll not be able to sleep with you dancing different forms of dance with such enthusiasm right beside me."
"You're taunting me?" She gasped, half-pouting, half-glowering.
"I won't dare do that." I raised my eyebrows and smiled teasingly.
Taking her hand in mine, I began playing with her fingers, with my dazed self still figuring out what to talk about, at this wee hour of the night.

Riya's Pov
"You remember my bua? Who wore green saree yesterday?" He started, his fingers absent-mindedly rolling my ring in the ring finger.
"You have three bua's, how would I know." I said, shrugging dismissively.
"Arey yaar, the one who patted your face during the photo!" He reminded.
"Aditya, out of all the relatives I met there, almost half of them had patted my face lovingly." I mentioned, raising my eyebrows at him.
"Umm.." He started thinking, probably figuring out the description of the said relative.
"Acha acha! Are you talking about the one who pulled me to the side of the dance stage, when we were dancing? The one who asked me to stand straight while she kept showing me to someone over the video call? Haina haina?" I voiced, suddenly reminded by the incident where I had to stand straight, not knowing where to look at.
Chuckling he replied, "Yeah, she's the eldest one. She was showing you to my cousin sister who couldn't come to our wedding.
"Achaa. What about her?" I posed, suddenly interested.
"You have to be beware of her." He warned, his tone very serious.
"Huh?" I gaped at him, bewildered.
"She makes everyone eat a lot, sometimes to the extent of putting morsels into the person's mouth. And you are the brand new bahu, so when we'll go to her place for dinner, you need to brace yourself up for her eating torture. Snacks, ghee, sweets, fruits, main course, beverages, she won't leave anything. Oh and yeah! You can't say no to her." He spoke each word slowly, and sincerely, eyeing me.
"You are bluffing haina?" I let out a nervous chuckle, gulping the ball of nerves, suddenly scared of eating too much.
"Lae sachi!" He voiced confidently.
"You are warning me or scaring me?" I gaped at him, "What kind of husband scares his wife about his relatives on the first night itself huh?" Pouting, I slapped the back of his hand, while he laughed heartily enjoying the scared look on my face.
"Arey don't worry, I was just pulling your leg. Sure she makes everyone eats a lot, but give her your innocent doe eye look, and she'll stop." He assured, winking in my direction.
Phew!
The next fifteen minutes we spent talking about our set of relatives, their traits, and funny stories, with little silences here and there.
Though this man's hands never left mine, not even for a teeny-weeny second, his hold soft yet firm, as always.
Sometimes he would just keep playing with my fingers aimlessly, sometimes just keep holding it with his slow caresses on my palm, or sometimes, he would leisurely place my hand in between his neck and shoulder joint, simultaneously playing with my bangles with his fingers.
"You know.." He voiced suddenly and peered at me, his gaze soft.
"Hmm?" I looked at him expectantly.
"You look beautiful in this." He smiled touching my forehead lightly, right where I've put vermillion on, his eyes gleaming.
"And this." He spoke touching the wedding chain, grazing it softly.
"Oh and this too!" He played with our wedding ring.
"Oh! yeah and this too!" He caressed my henna-clad hands, especially right where our names were written.
A giggle erupted in my throat hearing him, and shaking my head amusedly, I remarked, "And you are mad!"
"Sure Sure I am." He mumbled.
"You also look beautiful you know, even without the sindoor, the mangalsutra, and mehandi!." I stifled my laugh, biting my cheeks from the inside, enjoying these little conversations with him.
"Beautiful, huh?" He confirmed, narrowing his eyes playfully.
"Yeah, beaauutifuuuul." I extended the word teasingly.
"Han han, fine, I know I am beautiful." He stated, partially-offended, partially-pretending.
We both laughed looking at each other, the air amidst us light and cozy.
I love these easy-peasy conversations with him.
"Acha ab try to sleep now, It's 1:30" He spoke drowsily, his face tired, looking at the wall clock.
"Okey-dokey." I said, despite feeling energetic, as I wasn't feeling sleepy but he was.
Life of an Insomniac!
Though he didn't straighten on his back even after a few seconds he kept looking at my hands absent-mindedly, simultaneously playing and fiddling with my fingers as if contemplating something.
"What happened?" I asked, and he raised his head finally and looked at me intently.
Withdrawing his hold on my hands, he shifted a little upwards, closer to my face, and palmed my left cheek, gently caressing it with his thumb. My heart thudded vehemently, breathing became shallow and my eyes closed on their own accord, as his breathing fanned my forehead, and the next moment he pressed his lips on my forehead in a chaste-lingering kiss.
After a second or two, he moved back a little, and smiled affectionately at me, his face glowing with unnameable emotions, the back of his fingers still caressing my cheeks. My lips quirked up in a contented but shy smile, relishing his touch on me.
His touch feels different yet so familiar, intimate yet so homey, warm yet so soothing.
Joining our foreheads together, he hoarsely whispered, a mischievous smile tugged at the corner of his lips, "Blush-Blush?"
His comment intensified the rosy hue on my cheeks, and I looked away embarrassed, tightly shutting my eyes. Pouting a little, I whined, "Shut up na yaar!."
Laughing, he moved back, to his original place, and glanced at me, "Soye ab? Or you want to blush a little more?" He wiggled his eyebrows teasingly.
"Good night." Ignoring his teasing comment, I immediately covered myself with the quilt, while I could hear soft chuckles of my husband laying beside me.
"Good night" He spoke still chuckling, before switching off the lights.
*******
Aditya's Pov
Hardly ten minutes would have passed, after which I heard some shuffling beside.
Again!
This woman will not let me sleep tonight.
I turned towards her side, and her silhouette came into my view, standing near the bed. Ignoring the creepy feeling I got seeing her, I switched on the lights immediately, and asked, a bit irked, "What happened now?"
As soon as the lights went on she stood there, a grimaced expression plastered on her face, her eyes hooded with unfulfilled sleep, "Stop being cranky." She scowled back, "Khud to he is in his room, his bed, and on his side, and he still wants to get irritated by me. No sense of empathy." She muttered sulkily, glaring at me.
Looks are deceptive! Within a day of my wedding itself, I've realized the authenticity of this statement. She only looks innocent from the outside, but in reality, is a short-tempered satan inside.
"Stop cussing me in your heart, save it for later." She remarked, displeased, "Where's the carton box I sent two days before our wedding?" She asked, more like demanded.
"Why?" I questioned back, "Uh, Under the office table." I answered as soon as she pinned me with her murderous glare for asking too many questions.
Shuffling the contents in the carton, she took out a medium-sized cylindrical-shaped pillow, her irksome face now replaced with a relieved one.
"Huh?" I looked at her questionably, as she ambled towards the bed.
"I can't sleep without cuddling it." She shrugged indifferently, and laid down, happily and tightly snuggling it, While I looked at her incredulously.
Why the hell am I getting jealous of this stupid pillow?
She could have cuddled me as well, haina?
Am I not a good cuddler? And this piece of fabric is?
Will she keep cuddling and snuggling it for life, and not me?
Frowning in the direction of her pillow, I switched off the lights sulkily, trying my best to ignore the peaceful-romantic cuddle and snuggle session happening right beside me.
I remained awake for a few more minutes just in case my wife plans to wake up again and decides to scowl at me or finish up any more scoldings.
But by God's grace, in another ten minutes, I heard her soft-rhythmic breathing, her tired-face now peaceful, which was enough to tranquilize and soothe my heart. Smiling in no one particular, I closed my eyes, and let darkness engulf me in a state of deep-peaceful slumber.
