Jade pov
"Jade!!" Jayson yelled trying to reach me. My back was turned but I could hear this fool rushing towards me.
He lifted his hand ready to slash my back open but I side stepped making him stumble a bit in front of me. The demon spun around to try again but I was too fast for him I already had him by his throat. Giving Ruby full control we crushed the demons throat our nails breaking skin and causing blood to pour down our hands onto the floor.
"Is this how you treat your princess?" I dropped the demon shaking my hand of its blood. My red eyes stared darkly into each and every demon before me. "I - she laughed - I'm confused. Did you all not, swore to protect me? To protect my human when I find her?" Ruby glared at every demon in the room.
All of which avoided eye contact. Some went from large shadows to tiny ones when her glare landed on them. None of them answered her questions pissing her off.
"Answer me!" Ruby barked out forcing all demons to their knees.
"Yes princess!" They answered.
Still in demon form but back in command I went to get Jayson but a wolf had other plans. I stepped back in time for him to pass right in front of me. Looking to the wolf he growled drool and all, and tried attacking me again. As soon as his feet left the ground he got blasted through the wall, and it wasn't from me this time.
"Nice.." I whistled seeing the damage the demon had done.
Their human bodies began to crack and shift, and change forms leaving their original bodies standing before me. They all gathered around me like a protective circle.
"What is this!? What is the meaning of this betrayal!?" A man appeared. By his scent alone I could tell he was a warlock.
Catching sight of him I saw he was a bit tall danger danced in his green eyes that, are currently glowing, his black hair looked wet and went down in curls to the top of his shoulder. He was by no means skinny but he wasn't big and buff either. He wore simple jeans and a dress shirt and he looked like he can hold his own in a physical fight. For how long is the question.
"We no longer serve you. Our princess stands before us, and we promised our king to protect her under any circumstances." The demon standing directly in front of me using his boney wings to block me from the warlock, answered for everyone in the room.
"I see..." he fully entered the room green eyes shimmering in the dark ".. then all of you shall parish!" He seethed with unbridled rage.
Rolling my eyes at his dramatic behavior I appeared before him, halting his steps. His eyes widened as his body locked up under my glare.
"You dare threaten them in front of me..." I hissed "Threatening my demons is not acceptable." I leaned in close to whisper in his ear "That's my job!" I snarled venom dripping off my tongue.
Suddenly he threw up blood eyes wide in shock. He stared up at me trying to make sense of what just happened. Slowly his eyes went down to see my fingers stabbed into his chest right into his lungs which I broke a rib to get to. While he was processing that and wheezing I placed my other thumb finger in the middle of his forehead.
He began to tremble beneath me. His pupils dilated and he frantically kept looking around, for what? He alone knows. His mouth was open so he could scream but only blood left it causing him to choke and causing him to cough which mind you was another set of excruciating pain for him. I pulled my hand out his chest drawing more blood from him.
His weak body got weaker, shrinking into nothing but skin and bones. He couldn't stand and dropped to his knees, breaking them. Unable to cry out in pain he drop to his side breaking his arms. He squirmed around blood coming from his wound on his chest and coughing it up in his mouth. His tan skin went grey then it turned to black and he finally stopped squirming.
The warlock's eyes were gone, skin almost none existent and black, hair gone, and his jaw had unhinged. Blood slowly seeped through his eyes sockets, mouth and chest wound forming into a blood pool. Humming I shook the blood off my hand.
"Thank you for our freedom, princess. When you need us, we'll be ready to be by your side." With that they all faded into the darkness leaving Jayson and I alone.
I shifted back into my human self running over to Jayson who was stunned into silence onky staring at me. It was then I realized there were no wolves growling or snapping at me. Looking around and I found a massacre with dead wolves all around us.
"Huh..I hadn't noticed. Sorry about all..-" I motioned to everything around us "- that." I helped him up seeming to snap him from his stunned mind.
"Yeah that was, something but you're safe so I don't mind." He smiled wiping blood off my face.
"Alright let's go!" I took his hand pulling him through the wall the first wolf made.
We found he had went through three wall leading us straight into the forest. The place was dark signalling that it was night. Since we were still near the building we had to make sure we weren't spotted. Looking around I saw no one and that was our cue to run.
We dashed through the trees hoping to get as far from here as possible. At one point we had to stop and make a decision on which direction to go. I closed my eyes sensing everything around me. The wind picked up carrying a scent. One I was familiar with. My pack is on the east side of this territory.
"Come on, I know where to go!" Once again I took Jayson's hand and began to run in the direction my pack is in.
Halfway there sounds of grunts, growls, and breaking sticks sounded behind us. We were being followed. Clicking my tongue in annoyance I tapped a tree as we passed using its branches and roots to block the path. I did this with a few more trees and broken off roots.
Out of nowhere Erik appeared before us shoving Jayson away from me and he shoved me back as well sending us flying away from the other. I groaned from the impact my head pounding from it hitting against a tree root.
"Thought you could escape without me knowing did you?" He smirked "And with no hesitation too. No goodbyes nothing. You wound me." He looked away. Being melodramatic.
"Please!" I scoffed "If I wounded you you'd be dead!" I clicked my tongue as my words earned me a glare.
"You're asking for trouble Jade!"
"No. You've already caused it."
"How so?"
"Oh I don't know! Maybe it was the fact that you had the audacity to take a member from America's strongest pack. No wait, maybe it's the fact that you messed with their alpha. Oh, and let's not forget that I am the one you took no less." My answers were drenched entirely in sarcasm.
"You are an asset to his pack no doubt, but I highly doubt that he'd be this affected by your disappearance. You're replaceable.." Erik smirked thinking he won the argument.
"You know, you might be right but.." It was my turn to smirk "..you can't get rid of me that easily. And did I not mention that the pack's luna, is me? Last I checked, the luna of a pack is not so easily replaced."
Erik growled glaring down at me in annoyance before he turned away from me and took some breaths. I quickly looked to Jayson but didn't see much as Erik had turned back to face me.
"Come back with me Jade." He held his hand out.
"No." I shut up down instantly which seemed to he his breaking point.
"You're testing my patience! Do you know what happens to people that like testing my patience?! I'll show you..." I frowned at his threat watching him carefully only to be caught off guard when a tree branch wrapped around my neck hoisting me in the air.
It let go for a split second to wrap itself around my stomach tightly slowly squeezing me as I tried using my strength to break it. I grunted in pain as the branch tightened around my waist, if it squeezed anymore something will break, whether it's my arm or ribs I don't know.
"Agh!" My head snapped up at the sound of someone in pain. Erik had Jayson dangling off the ground by his throat and no matter how he struggled Erik is the stronger one.
"Don't you dare hurt him!" I shouted struggling more to break free to get to them.
"Watch me."
"Ahhh!!" Erik dropped Jayson onto the floor using his power to heighten Jayson's sense of pain as he pierced him with splinters from tree branches.
Fuck! Fuck ! Fuck! I screamed trying my best to break from the tree branch but all it it was cause a little crack. Why won't this branch fucking break!? I whimpered softly still trying to set myself free.
"Do you see?" I looked up at Erik "Do you see what happens when you test my patience?"
"Fuck you Erik!" I kicked my legs hoping it would help wiggle me out faster.
"Hmn.. wrong answer." I froze pupils shrinking in horror as Jayson got impaled on his side going from shoulder down to his stomach.
Tears stung my eyes and pain filled my heart watching as his clothes slowly began to get soaked in his blood. Watchung as he fell to the floor fighting to stay awake
"JAYYSSONN!!!" I screamed out my pain feeling helpless so far away from him. Erik scoffed snapping his fingers, turning the branch back to normal and letting me fall.
I landed badly but that was the least of my concern when Jayson was a few feet in front of me bleeding out. I scrambled to get to him shaking as for once, no rational thoughts were forming entirely in my head. Everything was jumbled.
"Okay, um...you're okay...you're going to be okay!" I sniffed blinking back my tears as I tried turning him on his back but he resisted curling into himself more in pain. "I'm sorry, but you're going to make it and, and to make it you need to lie on your back."
I tried turning him again, with much pain on his part I managed to turn him onto his back. The sight of blood has never bothered me before, but seeing this amount leaving him at such a fast pace worried me. I could see his life leaving but I wasn't ready to let him go, I started to heal him. Jayson smiled painfully at me eyes dropping.
"At least I, I got t,to see you again.. to see how, how beautiful you have be, become. To see my baby sister all..grown up..." his eyes closed and I panicked
"No no no no! Jayson! Jayson wake up! We have to go home you can't, you can't be sleeping right now!" I teared up again "I just got you back! I never said you could leave!!" I yelled bringing forth Diamond to heal him faster.
"Yo, you can't...you can't save me from this...not, not this...time.." he muttered eyes still closed. I listened hearing how slow his heart is and it's slowing down more.
"I can! I can save you! So please! Please stay with me!!" I begged. He cracked his eyes opened ever so slightly and gave me a smile then it closed and... his heart stopped.
I froze, stopping from healing him and just staring. My tears increased dropping onto his face making him look like he was crying alongside me. I sobbed going back to try and heal him.
"No...no...no... you can't be... you're not...not yet. "Â I began to pump his heart using Scarlett to create lighting in my hands to jump start his heart again.
"There are many more to come."
"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" I screamed at him not giving him the time of night. "As soon as I get him breathing again. You're a dead man!!" I growled.
"You won't be able to heal him. It's too late~" Erik laughed amused by my uselessness.
He was right. I knew that, but did it stop me from trying? No. I was putting all I had into trying to start Jayson's heart again but it wasn't working. It wasn't enough.
Come on Jayson! You can't do this to me!
"You can't die after I only got you back!!" I cried feeling myself weakened "Come back! You can't do this to me. I won't allow it! I'm not done with you! You have seven years to make up for! I'm not finished growing yet and you didn't get to meet my mate! You're not.dying!!" I pounded my fist onto his chest.
"You're not dying! I refuse to let you go! You mean everything to me! You're worth more to me than my own life so please! Please! Open your eyes!!"
A flash of light appeared when my fist landed on Jayson's chest. It shocked us both and in that moment the moon had never shined as bright as it did then.
That's all you needed to say. Honesty in your heart and your words are the keys to unlocking all your powers.
And as the moon shone brightly on us, my appearance began to change...
