Ela's POV,THREE DAYS AGO,"Time is up Eleanor! We have to leave.", my lawyer spoke."Why aren't you allowing a doctor to see you? What is it with your health here?""Shh. I'm fine now.", Kylen replied in low voice."I never imagined I would be the one pulling you out of here.", I chuckled."Me, neither.""Give me a day, I'll make it right.", I smiled walking out.I had iterated his dialogue."Hope you don't turn out to be a failure like me!"His voice echoed as my lawyer and I left the chamber.My lawyer did some work and gave me a last option.And before I could consider it, I wanted to affirm it, first.A while later,I was at my home, walking around, thinking if there were any other strategies left. I went through multiple lawsuits on internet, searching for similar cases in the past.The bell rang."Ela!"Kattsy."Hey Kat.", I opened the door."Omg, you're alive!", she faked her excitement."I know, I couldn't hang out with you much these days."She pushed me to the side, mocking a smile and entered the living room."You are one crazy woman. What are all these papers?", she quoted looking around."Um. Something related to my parents' work. I'm helping them for a case."I couldn't share the truth to her yet. I'm lacking the time, already."Hey.", examining me, she spoke, "Something is wrong. Are you missing your fiancé? By the way why hasn't he come to see you yet? I want to see him too, Ela. Call him to come here."I chuckled, he's the source of my worry.She had seen the ring on my ring finger, and I had to divulge about me being engaged, but didn't utter a word about my wedding havoc."He will come one day. Kat was right. Shawn hadn't come to check on me. I'm pretty sure by now, he is aware of where I live, assuming if he ever bothered to look for me.The voice in my mind declined sharply, 'No Ela. No. He hates you.'I wept hugging my pillow.With no other option left, I agreed to carry out the last method.The next day, we reached the police house.Shawn was also called.We took our seats in front of our assigned cop."Ms. Noberg, are you sure you want to do this?""Certainly.", I took a long breath.Shawn looked at me with a doubtful face."I'm here to confess.", I looked at my lawyer as he nodded."As the victim of this case, I would like to clarify that I was never kidnapped.""What?""Let her continue, Mr. Fisher.""I got myself to elope from this wedding. I didn't know what to do as I was approaching the end moment, I realized this wedding was a mistake. With Kylen's and Sam's help, I pulled it off. I was not in my right mind, and I couldn't directly speak to my fiancé, Shawn."I could feel Shawn's jaws widened."I just went missing, to hide myself from my family. I was never abducted and I was safe. This is my final statement.", I concluded, keeping my face firm."You're lying! She's clearly lying!", Shawn banged the desk."Calm down, Mr. Fisher.", said another cop."As you take up the responsibility of it, you have to sign here agreeing upon your words as your sole witness. If found any fraud in the future, you will be sentenced with 12 years of prison life or beyond."I grabbed the pen and stroke my signature on the paper without having any second thoughts."Ela-""Mr. Fisher still has the ownership of this case.", Shawn's lawyer spoke."He had it because she was his fiancé.", Mr.Reynolds said."Was??"Glancing Shawn once, I shut my eyes separating the ring from my finger. I placed it before him on the desk. The memories of his proposal flashed as I gazed at him being spell-bound."I don't know if this is for the case or not. But I want it to be over.", I said boldly with a twitchy nose.Tears were back as I continued signing the papers."The procedure of this case withdrawal is confirmed. Mr.Liengton will be let out in an hour."It was pouring outside as I stood there collecting rain in my palms. "Ela."I gulped down my throat, facing him."I don't know where to start,", Shawn chuckled bitterly, "You lied there about kidnapping. You were kept hostage! You didn't elope from our wedding."I saw a lone tear escaping from his eyes.Wow. He finally accepted the truth!What a timing. "At least you realized it now. That's a good thing.", I sucked my lower lip in dismay, "Unfortunately, you're late in believing me.""Ela, I didn't mean to call off our engagement. It's all because of him!""Well, you let a third person decide our destiny, Shawn. When I came running to you to say the truth, I thought you would stand by my side!", I shouted.My voice sharp, "And what did you do? You turned your back on me, accusing me that I carried out everything to hurt you!"He let his head down."But the days here have been hard for me as everything went unforeseen to me!", I rubbed my eyes, "You never came nor asked anyone if I was even alive! Seeing me at the mall with them, you assumed I'm having the best of my life. While I every night, end up wetting my pillow, waiting for you to knock my door."There was a brief pause."Yet you took the ultimate decision. You sided with the criminal by undoing our love! He should be the one suffering. This is not fair, Ela!""God, don't you get it? It's about us. Why are you bringing up Kylen in every statement?!""Because you did so much for him!""Yes Shawn, I did it for Kylen! And Sam. Because they repented their mistake, and I forgave them already!"Continuing, I smiled sadly, "Imagine to what extent I would go for you, if you had believed even a little in me."
