Boom!
The entire floor trembled under the impact of Colinâs strike.
Knight Cadina was halfway sunk into the floor, unable to move.
Colin grabbed Cadina by the back of her neck, lifted her up, and asked:
âTell me, what other houses has your family of St. Sean infiltrated?â
Cadinaâs face was smeared with blood, but she sneered, âYou wonât get any secrets about the family of St. Sean from me!â
âIs that so?â Colin threw Cadina onto the ground and turned to Saken, who was stunned on the side, âWould you like to avenge your father?â
Saken was still immersed in his confusion about why Colin had not been poisoned, and upon hearing Colinâs words, he tossed away his jumbled thoughts and eagerly nodded: âYes!â
Colin shifted his gaze back to Cadina, nonchalantly said: âIâm giving you one last chance.â
Cadina grinned, stating, âKill me, my father wonât let you go!â
Colin also laughed: âGood, I have no intention of sparing your father either.â
Seeing Cadinaâs stubborn attitude, he decided not to waste any more time and nodded towards Saken.
Already impatient, Saken immediately unsheathed his waist sword, bellowed, and thrust it into Cadinaâs chest.
Cadina gave a muffled hum, but her eyes remained steadfast, staring at Colin and Saken as if to etch their images into her memory forever.
But soon, her eyes began to lose focus, and a large amount of blood flowed profusely from her mouth like a gushing fountain.
Saken seemed unsatisfied and turned to Colin for permission, âCount, may I honor my father with Cadinaâs skull?â
Colin paused and shook his head: âNo, I still have use for her corpse. You can go out for now.â
Saken, not daring to disobey, reluctantly left.
Only then did Colin step forward, open his mouth wide, and bite into Knight Cadinaâs neck.
â¦
Butler Agus of the Morrison family proceeded alone in the dark and silent basement.
Soon, he entered a room full of wooden boxes.
Butler Agus held a candlestick and carefully opened each of the wooden boxes for inspection.
Once he confirmed that nothing was amiss with the contents, he finally breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the cold sweat from his face.
At that moment, the sound of shuffling footsteps abruptly echoed.
Butler Agus quickly turned around, but relaxed when he saw the newcomerâs face, and greeted, âMiss Cadina, everything is prepared.â
âThe plan is canceled.â
Butler Agus was taken aback, although he didnât question why Cadinaâs voice was so stiff, he hurriedly asked: âMiss, has there been a change in the plan?â
âNo. I just realized that the previous plan was too risky, so I canceled it on the spot.â
Butler Agus heaved a big sigh of relief and said:
âMiss, I also thought your previous plan was risky. After all, the Blood Knight Army is really terrifying. Even if we could kill their officers with Wildfire, the insane soldiers left behind would turn Floral City into a living hell.â
âYes, I thought the same, we should try to contact father first.â
Butler Agus frowned, reminded her in a low voice, âMiss, itâs always the master who contacts us, we have no way to reach him.â
Cadina paused for a moment. It was too dark to see her expression, as she spoke again:
âNo matter what, we cannot stay in the Morrison Family any longer. Gather those loyal to the family of St. Sean and meet at the western warehouse of Phoenix Butterfly Fort before midnight, prepare to evacuate.â
âYes, Miss.â
â¦
Midnight.
Phoenix Butterfly Fort was silent, with only a few Blood Knight Army soldiers patrolling with torches.
In the western warehouse, Butler Agus listened to the distant, faint hooting of an owl, a sense of anxiousness welling up within him.
âMr. Agus, why hasnât Miss Cadina arrived yet?â
Butler Agus turned to glance fiercely at the speaker, snapping impatiently:
âHow should I know!â
Just at that moment, a hurried flurry of footsteps echoed from outside.
Butler Agusâ face paled; he swiftly peered through the warehouse window to see in the darkness of the night, a myriad of Blood Knight Army soldiers, carrying torches, had surrounded the warehouse.
âWho leaked the information!â
Butler Agus growled, his face as pale as a ghost.
The dozen or so people inside the warehouse shook their heads in unison, saying:
âNot me!â
âDefinitely not me!â
âDamn it, Tom, did you spill the beans!â
âI did not!â
â¦
Amidst the chaotic clamor, the warehouse door was kicked open.
Colin strode in nonchalantly, greeting:
âGood evening, everyone.â
Butler Agus forced a strained smile and braced himself to step forward, âCount, what are you doing here?â
âI should be asking, what are you all up to, sneaking around in the dead of the night?â
âWeâ¦we areâ¦â Butler Agus was wracking his brains to come up with an excuse, but then he saw Cadina behind Colin.
No need to manufacture excuses now.
Butler Agus immediately abandoned all hope of luck, but he was at a loss as to why Cadina, as Mr. Jiâs own daughter, would betray them.
Upon seeing Cadina, the others also lost all will to resist, and promptly knelt down with their hands over their heads to surrender.
After scanning the room, Colin noticed none of the Morrison Family knights who had previously sworn loyalty to him were present. He nodded in approval, then said:
âTake them all away. Iâll interrogate them myself!â
âYes!â
A squadron of the Blood Knight Army proceeded, capturing all of the St. Sean Family spies in the warehouse.
As Butler Agus passed by Cadina, he sneaked a glance at her. He noticed, however, that her face was emotionless, as if she had no interest in the events unfolding before her.
Swallowing his doubts, Butler Agus let the soldiers lead him to a study inside the castle.
As he nervously waited, Count Angler strode in.
âAgus, isnât it?ân/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âYes, Count.â
âIâm going to ask you a few questions. Donât even think about hiding anything or telling lies because Iâll be verifying with others. If I find out youâre lying, well!â
Agus forced a stiff smile, replying, âGo ahead and ask, Count. Iâll answer truthfully.â
âWhen did you enter Phoenix Butterfly Fort?â
âFifteen years ago.â
âIs your surname also St. Sean?â
âNo, I was originally just a farmer in Floral City. I nearly starved to death due to famine, was then saved by Mr. Ji, so I pledged my loyalty to himâ
âHow did he arrange for you to get into the Phoenix Butterfly Fort?â
âLord Franco invited me in.â
âSo Franco didnât commit suicide, did he? You poisoned him, correct?â
âYes.â
âWhy did you kill him?â
âBecause⦠he knew too much.â
