SILVER

“The moonlight will light up our path, Silver; it always does. Did you know the moon is a partner and a guide to Silver Breeds? We have been matched with the moon since the beginning of time.”

Drax holds my hand and leads me into the forest along a lightly trodden dirt track.

We have been walking a good hour, and now that we are far away, he sounds ready to try a poetic tone with just the two of us.

Regardless, I am increasingly nervous as his hand clasps mine tightly and firmly, taking me along into the night away from the Lost Dragon Horde.

Young and handsome Drax is showing me to a private, hard-to-find location.

The moment he decided to take me up on the offer and grabbed my hand to lead me away, Kai and Julius slipped back into the shadows of the camp and parted ways.

They don’t want to be a part of this, and I can’t blame them.

My mind is simply and firmly set on revenge. I am consumed by it.

Any other day, I would never have even thought of doing something so crazy, but the way the Silver Breeds live, on emotion and experience, it is the perfect excuse.

I can fall into my instincts, into my primal nature as a Silver Breed and say I was simply drowning myself in another experience.

I will ascribe this to just another ill-advised decision. As Storm has so astutely drilled into me, everything I do is ill-advised… So perhaps I will just continue to be so.

“Is that why the sun is so bright and unbearable to most Silver Breeds in the West? They are used to overcast weather and nighttime flying only?” I ask.

Drax eventually hops down a slope and holds my hand steady as I follow him down into a mossy patch of grass surrounded by trees.

“That’s right, sweetie.” Drax stands back and continues to hold my hand so I have to step closer to him to gain some slack.

I look him over; he’s wearing nothing but brown Gypsy breeches, and his red eyes are shining in the dark.

His face is typically handsome, so I can see why a lot of girls fall for him. His mannerisms make you feel like you are the only girl present while he speaks to you or of you to others.

His flirtatious nature is both satisfying and dangerous, especially in the way he speaks of his flippant nature.

One girl is never enough, and the one girl he wants, Risen, refuses to fall for him as easily as all the others.

And here I am.

“I am ready to suck your cock now,” I say, suddenly in a rush as I willingly drop to my knees and place my hands on my thighs, a fire of impatience in my gaze.

“~Whoa~, pipsqueak.” When Drax says the nickname, it doesn’t roll off his tongue as well as Storm’s. “You don’t…have to rush into this. We can talk first if you like.”

“Talk?” I ask, raising a brow and trying not to let the nerves through.

“Fine. You make me feel valued, as Storm does not. I feel useless and bothersome to him. Nothing but a burden. You…make me feel…wanted.

“Like you are interested in getting to know me, like you actually ~care~ about my feelings. Even if you are a…what you call a…fuck boy.”

“Sweetie.”

Drax drops to one knee and reaches to cup my cheek and give me a warm kiss on my right cheekbone and then the other as he murmurs, “You were just thrust into Storm’s life after he went through seven hundred years of isolation.

“As much as you have to give him time to heal, you deserve to be looked after. I can help you in that department.

“If you haven’t already seen from my aura, I find you mightily attractive, beautiful, stunning, innocent and so, ~so~ sweet. My darling, you deserve the world and more.

“Who says you can have only one mate? You can have Storm, Kai, Julius, myself…anyone you want. You deserve it.”

Drax is so kind with his words, but I also see the spark of cunning behind his eyes and his statements.

“Have you always been like this to all females?” I can’t help but ask, blushing at his words. “And are you sure Storm won’t be able to find us and interrupt us?”

“He is not the only Silver Breed to manipulate spaces and shadows. I promise this place is securely ours, and no one can intrude.”

Drax steps up and holds out his arms, spinning around in a full circle to show me the lines of smoky red magic that hide our patch of moss and grass. “You see, Silver?”

“I see,” I whisper. “Silver Breeds really are phenomenal. I don’t know this magic well. I just fly and…burn my meat…and roll in mud.” I shrug, and Drax laughs and turns back to me.

“Typical fledgling behavior; so adorable.” Drax winks and curls two fingers at me to come closer.

“Sweetie, let’s see how submissive in nature you are. Now, crawl to me.” Drax changes his tone dramatically, and I find myself pausing to feel the pull and heat in my gut.

His tone…so similar to Storm’s…and his command so real and striking.

“Crawl?” I ask needlessly, simply to see him raise a brow and wait for me to make the first move.

I decide to be bold, and I place two palms on the ground. As I raise my butt, my knees and the purple dress sinking into the moss, I feel a distinct presence.

It is none other than the Legend who haunts the realm; a golden, vibrant, and deadly feeling runs down my spine in response to his appearance.

Drax said this place was secure, but I feel Storm moments away, if not feet away, watching from the silent and safe confines of a shadow.

I feel him so well, because his emotion is at its peak. Equivalent to a Blood Fury, which is exactly what I want.

Emotion, real, raw, and let loose…to trigger Storm into falling completely into the bond that we are destined to have. Mates for eternity.

Now all I have to do to set it into stone…is willingly crawl to Drax.

I do so now, one palm and knee at a time, biting my bottom lip for dramatic effect.

I look up through my silver strands, and I sway my hips, crawling toward Drax with a determination like no other I have felt.

I cannot wait for Storm’s reaction; ~I cannot wait~ for his pain and fury to match my own.

“You make me feel special, Drax,” I let out in a husky drawl in a statement Storm will never forget, and I feel his eyes burn into me.

Just as I reach Drax’s ankles and I sit back on my heels…I catch my breath at the sight I see behind an unknowing Drax.

The red and smoky magic around us has formed into a portal just two feet behind Drax’s form. I watch entranced as the moving molten metal liquid vibrates and swirls.

It parts, and I see the red eyes…so evil…staring at me once more.

My whole spine feels stiff and tingly with raw nerves on edge.

Danger, death, pain, fear.

Everything you wish not to think of or feel flows through me now, and I am frozen to the spot.

I feel a tear instantly makes its way to the surface and leak out of my eye as the whole area seems to ~slow~ down.

I turn to my left to see Storm stalking into the clearing in slow motion, with determination and fury in his stride.

I turn to Drax and see him watching me with a look of concern and confusion at my sudden panic.

But then time speeds up again, and I see the red-eyed spirit exiting into our realm…and entering into the back of Drax’s unwitting form.

I gasp and come back to the present, scrambling to my feet and falling right back into Storm’s embrace.

Not a loving, kind embrace, but a ruthless and vise-like hold, clasping me to him and throwing me behind…

Storm snarls at me, growling low so I do not approach the confrontation between male rivals.

Instead, I am looking past Storm up to Drax’s form, red eyes now glowing with another presence.

“Drax, you tread on a thin line between life and death. Always testing your Lord’s patience,” Storm snarls at Drax, and I realize in a panic that Storm has not seen what I have seen.

And he does not know that Drax is not…Drax.

“I prefer to think of it as a way of balancing the turmoil in my heart.” Drax puts a hand over his chest and feigns a pout, his eyes unblinking.

“I have a soft spot for vulnerable females… I can’t help it!” Drax shrugs, and Storm shakes his head.

“You are despicable, and I will teach you exactly what kind of ~turmoil~ you’ve earned for your decisions tonight.”

As Storm snarls the warning, I see Drax’s eyes glance over Storm’s shoulder and meet my own gaze.

~“You think you know what revenge is? I’m seeking some penance, little Dragon,”~ a female voice warps through my head, coming from Drax’s body, making me feel dizzy almost instantly.
