In the hall that Jason had prepared, numerous people came to the hall. They were coming from prominent families in this city that managed to gain the spot to come here. It took a lot of effort for them to make Jason agree with their request to come here.
Jason looked at his friend. "Taro, you dress up better today."
Taro shrugged. Compared to his usual easy-going attitude, he looked more solemn and composed. His body had grown thinner because he was busy doing work here and there while waiting for his brother to wake up. The only thing that kept him going was his resolution that things would turn out to be better.
"I prefer dressing up simply right now," Taro replied with a smile. "Itâs easier to move using these clothes rather than the one that I usually use."
Jason has to agree that Taroâs words were correct. Even though he didnât know how it felt to wear the clothes, it was hurting his eyes to see Taro wearing them. They were all simply too hard for his eyes to take.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Iâm glad that you can come out from your hole."
"Even though Doha Family is destroyed, itâs not like weâre left with nothing at all," Taro shrugged. There were still some companies left, and with some hard work for the past few weeks, he managed to salvage them. It might not be as great as before, but it was not bad at all.
At the price of his hard work, he couldnât play around at all. His time was solely focused on making sure he didnât go broke. Spending his time to study more about them, he wanted to make sure that he didnât accidentally destroy them again. It was already enough that the glorious Doha Family was forced to step down from their throne.
"Iâm glad to see you become mature, but I prefer the playful side of you," Jason sighed.
"Iâm still playful," Taro smirked. "But Iâm sure that you remind me that I have to make a good impression today, so I donât try to do anything funny."
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that. This is a good chance for you to build back your connection with the other wealthy families. As long as you make some good impression, Iâm sure that you can try to work with them if thereâs a chance in the future," Jason smiled.
Taro arched his eyebrows. "What makes you so sure that they want to befriend me? Also, arenât the main guests today those two representatives?"
Pointing to the middle, it was not hard to guess that the two representatives were in the middle of a large crowd. Many of the guests from prominent families tried to use this chance to build connections with these two. After all, having the backing of someone from the countryâs government would make them rather invincible.
Jason shook his head slightly. "Thereâs no need for you to aim for something impossible. You should just try to get some friends."
"I feel slightly offended by your words."
"Oh? I thought that you never get offended?"
Taro stuck out his tongue. He was just kidding as it was pretty common for him to fool around in the past. If he had such a narrow mind, he wouldnât be able to become the notorious young master from Doha Family.
"You might want to greet your girlfriend," Taro changed the conversation. "Sheâs coming here."
Jason turned his head to the entrance. He could see Laura was walking inside gracefully. Wearing white long dress with numerous decorations around her, she looked exceptionally beautiful. Her makeup was not that thick, but it highlighted her feature. Her rosy lips, long eyelashes, and enchanting expression, were all shown greatly.
With a single wink from her, it would be enough to send numerous men entranced. Her beauty knew no bounds, exceptionally beautiful like an evildoer.
"Sheâs too eye-catching," Jason gulped down.
Taro laughed. "Thatâs your girl for sure. Donât you want to greet her?"
Jason glanced at the two representatives from the corner of his eyes. He shook his head lightly. "Thereâs no need for me to stay with her for now. Iâll just introduce her as Nali Family Head."
"Ah, why are you restraining yourself like that?"
"I have my own reason, Taro. Now, you should just go to your friends and try to convince them that Doha Family will not end in your generation."
Taro rolled his eyes at Jasonâs words. It was easier said than done. He was already at his wits end because of the numerous works that he had to do. If not because he had a project that he wanted to get from another company, he wouldnât bother coming here to gain friends.
While Taro was lamenting, Jason made his way to the two representatives. The nobles tactfully made way when they saw Jason walking. Even though they didnât present when Jason took over the position to be the two representativesâ guide, they had heard about what he did.
There were no other words that could explain Jasonâs attitude except one: domineering!
But Jason has the qualification to do them. The power he held in his hand was more than enough to destroy most of the companies in this city. Offending him was the same as looking for their doom.
"Mr. George, Mrs. Erica, I wish to introduce you to some of the important people in this city," Jason smiled.
George was watching the movement of the nobles with amazement. He had heard about Jasonâs achievement in the businessâ field from a long time ago. But this was the first time he saw the prestige that this man held couldnât be compared with ordinary people.
It was no wonder this man was the one picked as their guide.
"Iâll be happy to meet with important people in this city," Erica expressed her agreement.
"Please follow after me," Jason walked towards Laura. The girl was looking at them with confusion filled her face, but she still put on a kind and tender smile.
"Oh my, youâre truly a young lady," Erica was surprised to see someone as young as Laura in this party. Most of the guests were already over 20, but it was easy for her to guess that Laura was still a teenager.
Laura smiled. "Many thanks for your compliment, Mrs. Erica."
Jason gestured for Laura to come closer. "This is Laura Nali, the current head for Nali Family."
Nali Family Head?
Both George and Erica were stunned. They had studied this city before coming here, so they knew that the Nali Family was one of the biggest families in this city. Even though it couldnât be compared with Wells Family, no other family could stand against them in this city.
They would have never imagined that the one who lead this family would be a young girl in her teenage age.
"My name is Laura Nali. Itâs nice to meet with you," Laura curtsied.
George snapped back to reality first. He looked at Laura with amazement. "Itâs my pleasure to meet with such a young family head. I wish the best for your family, Miss Laura."
"Many thanks, Mr. George."
Erica looked at Laura up and down. "Youâre really amazing, young lady. I wish to speak with you in the future if you have time."
"Itâll be my pleasure, Mrs. Erica," Laura beamed.
The three of them exchanged pleasantries before Jason introduced them to some other nobles. Laura retreated to the back as she sighed to herself. Acting in this kind of place was still pretty uncommon for her. She felt rather uncomfortable, but it was not that hard for her. Adjusting to these new environments was not something new for her.
Her eyes caught some nobles talking with one another while pointing at her. From their expression, she could guess that their words were anything but good.
She didnât mind. After a long time, she had gotten used to their hurtful words. Even though she felt like crying at first, she changed her mind when she recalled her sister. When she was away from here, it was her sister who had to face those hurtful words. Different from her, they must be filled with maliciousness as well while being thrown directly.
It couldnât be compared with the slight treatment that she received right now.
âOne day, you wonât be able to see me in that light anymore,â Laura promised to herself as she stood firm. She would become the best family head ever in this city. No one would be able to speak bad about her anymore.
While she was composing herself, Jason was staying not far from her. He was introducing some new important people to the two representatives while at the same time, he paid close attention to Laura. From the corner of his eyes, he made sure that Laura never left his field of vision.
If something bad happened to her, he would help her right away.
