"Boss, you really shouldnât touch the kitchen," Neo sighed when he saw the two of them in the morning.
"Itâs my kitchen."
Neo opened his mouth. He truly wanted to tell Kevin that it would be fine if he got inside, but please donât break the utensil. He was shocked speechless when he found the utensil in horrible condition. Many of them broke and the only one who has the strength to break them easily were only Kevin and Patrick.
"Iâll help to clean up if itâs necessary," Kanae offered.
Neo shook his head. "Thereâs no need."
He chose to sit down on his chair with a complicated expression. It was already hard enough for him to accept that they used the kitchen like that. Knowing Kanae, she wouldnât be able to clean the kitchen properly.
For the sake of kitchenâs safety, they shouldnât go in!
"Boss, thereâs a new mail from A company," Neo informed not long after he opened his laptop and started working.
"You handle it."
"Alright."
Kanae watched Neo who worked speedily as she browsed the documents in front of her. "It seems Neo really loves his job."
"Itâs his wife," Kevin remarked calmly.
"No! Iâm not marrying my job!" Neo rebutted with a dark expression. "Iâm marrying my laptop!"
Kanae and Kevin: "..."
Their banter stopped when Kevinâs phone rang. He picked it up with ease. "This is Kevin Kalin."
"Clan Head Kevin, this is Matt."
"How do you have my number?"
"Senior Pat gives it to me," Matt replied nonchalantly. "I found out the plan that Erica has when she comes to your city. She plans on taking the medicine to build a group of perfect soldiers. But with her connection, she wouldnât be able to think that far."
"Whatâs your point?" Kevin asked again.
"Sheâs just a subordinate of the military general here. Even though their plan is set in secret, the fact that the medicine in your city can only affect several people needs to be proven. They want all the records of the medicine used."
It was not impossible. The medicineâs record was kept safely within the government. As for the one that Ferdinand used, he had the record that Jon gave him before that manâs departure.
"Iâll send it."
"Thatâs not all, they want testimony of those who participated in the battle against Ferdinand and tell them in clear terms of the battle that occurred," Mattâs voice sounded restrained. He didnât like the thought of pulling them away from the city just to come to the capital.
As someone who was part of the capital, he knew very well the hidden power around. There were so many schemes that they generated every single day. Living in peace would mean that they had to stay under the shadow.
Kevin didnât immediately answer. He looked at Kanae beside him. "Do you want to go?"
"Yes," Kanae replied firmly. She wanted to see this matter ended with her own two eyes. There was no way she would give up halfway.
"I and Kanae will go," Kevin replied. "When will we go?"
"10 January," Matt replied. "Iâll prepare the plane ticket and all. You just have to make sure that you bring everything necessary. I canât tell you for sure how long you have to stay in the capital, but Iâll take care of your lodging."
"Ok."
"Iâll send you the gist of rules in capital. There are some differences with your city, so you should familiarize yourself with them."
"I understand."
After the call ended, Kevin turned to look at Kanae. "Itâs not going to be a child play. The capital is going to be very dangerous if you arenât careful. There might not be anyone who wants to kill you in the open, but there might be some scheme lying beneath them."
"Thereâs no need to worry," Kanae grinned. "I have lived through them for years, thereâs no harm adding a few more days."
Even though she was not categorized as Nali Familyâs main family, she had lived through their ways. The live that they showed to her was not easy, but she managed to survive them all. Cheap tricks wouldnât be able to fool her anymore.
"You should prepare for our departure."
"Roger that."
"Wait, wait," Neo interrupted their conversation. "Boss, if you two are gone, what are we going to do? Your safety is very important, I canât possibly let you go there just to die."
"I wonât die," Kevin answered firmly. He didnât have any intention to die. If the people in the capital tried to do something funny, he didnât mind retaliating. After all, his life was not that cheap.
"You should stay here, Neo," Kanae added.
Neo rolled his eyes. "What about your protection?"
"Do you think that weâre going to die that easily? Thereâs no need to worry so much, weâre much stronger than that," Kanae clasped her fist together.
"Neo, you should watch over the officials and make sure that they work efficiently. Mike will continue with his work and you should help him out. Uncle and Lou will watch the development plan. I hope that I can see changes when I return back here," Kevin gave his instruction.
Looking at the confident Kevin, Neo knew that this man was determined to go. There was nothing he could do to change the manâs mind anymore. Even though he doubted that there would be any other trouble in this city since Kevin, Kanae, Jason, and Laura practically held firm into many important aspects in this city, there was nothing wrong with being cautious.
"What if you return after only 1 day?"
Kevin arched her eyebrows. "Then I hope that you can make a slight change to the city."
"Thatâs impossible Boss."
"Nothing is impossible."
Neo sighed in resignation. "Iâll tell the others about your new instruction, Boss. Please excuse me."
Kanae watched as the young man walked away. She turned her head to Kevin. "Do you think thereâs going to be a lot of changes in this city?"
"There will be some changes, but we wonât be part of them anymore."
"What do you mean?"
The city was undergoing changes because he had asked them to close down the Black Street. The people who used to play around on the street was moved away to other places. Many of them have decent life, so there was no need for a live full of danger anymore.
As time passed by, the changes would become more visible. His role as Ryukalin Clan Head would slowly disappear. There would be no need for him to stand on the limelight anymore as his large scale works only happened in the dark.
"Weâll just become ordinary business people," Kevin replied amiably.
Kanae looked at Kevin doubtfully. "Are you sure someone like you can become âordinary?â"
"Thereâs nothing wrong with trying."
"I still doubt you can be âordinary,â Kevin."
