Matt looked at the two youngsters in front of him with a dark face. "Didnât I tell you two to rest properly? Why are you looking so sleepy?"
"We barely slept last night," Kanae made a peace gesture with her fingers.
Kevin shrugged. "Itâs not really important. Weâre going to sleep in the plane too."
The journey to return back to their city would take hours. If they were not sleeping at that time, they would only waste time.
Hearing their answer, Matt rubbed his forehead. They looked like just normal teenagers who couldnât control their schedule well, but he knew that they were anything but that. As for what these two were doing last night, he didnât want to bother asking.
"Anyway, give me a call when you have arrived. I have to make sure that you can return back safely," Matt reminded them.
Kanae rolled her eyes. "Do you hope that someone will hijack the plane when weâre on board?"
"Thatâs a pretty good idea."
Kanae: "..." You heartless uncle!
Kevin shook his head. "Even if thereâs one, Iâll just kill him and take over the plane. Thereâs no need to worry so much."
"Can you drive a plane?"
"I can learn."
Since it seemed that stuffing sense to these two were impossible, Matt shook his head in defeat. He pointed to the plane and handed the tickets to them.
"I wonât be accompanying you two this time. I still have a lot of matters to deal with in the capital. Thereâs no need to worry, itâs not about your city and everything."
"Ok, good luck Uncle Matt," Kanae smiled.
Kevin glanced to the side. "You should just come out if you want to see us off, Old Richard."
"Iâm not old, you brat!"
Walking out from behind the pillar, Richard glared at Kevin. His action looked like a kid as he seemed to hate being called âoldâ so much. Even though his voice was loud, no one paid any attention to him. They were already used with this old man creating a scene here and there.
"Iâll be waiting to hear the news about the cityâs downfall, brat," Richard grinned. "I hear that itâs full of people who only know crime. Even without me interfering, youâre going to fall by yourself."
"Iâm afraid youâre going to be disappointed," Kevin retorted.
Richard shrugged. "We shall see."
"You better worry about yourself first. If you dare to break off the promise, I wonât hesitate to crush the entire city."
"Che, youâre really an arrogant brat."
Kanae giggled lightly. "Letâs go, Kevin. The plane is going to fly in half an hour. I want to make sure weâre not going to be late."
"Sure."
"See you later, Uncle Matt and Grandpa Richard."
"Iâm not your grandpa!"
Richard watched as the two youngsters departed. He snorted in displeasure as he didnât like it when someone mentioned to him that he was old. Glancing at the man before him, he started speaking.
"Itâs really unlike your style to help out someone from other cities. Does living in that city for years make you turn soft?"
Matt passed a glance. "Donât speak as if you know me well, Richard."
Richard shrugged. "You know that itâs not impossible for that young man to rule the entire city if you help him out, right? Your influence is much bigger than what you have shown to him so far. Besides, for someone like you to use your influence a lot already shows that you hold deep interest in the city."
"I donât have any interest," Matt replied curtly. It was only for a small mission that he went to the City of Crime. From a place that he detested, it has become his second home and those people were already like a family for him. When he knew they would get into a much bigger trouble, he used his connection to help them out.
"You use so much of your power to help them out, but you say that you donât have any interest? Itâs hard to believe, Matt."
Mattâs gaze was fixated on the departing plane. His eyes held deep feelings as he shook his head lightly. "Man should be ambitious, but not overly greedy. Everyone is destined for different matters. You should know your limitations and capabilities to make sure that you wonât lose."
"Youâre using those high-level phrases again, Matt," Richard rolled his eyes. "Fine, I wonât ask you about them anymore, but can you keep your promise to them? Do you think that the government will always listen to your request?"
"Even if they donât, all I have to do is buy time. City of Crime will not be the same anymore in a few more years. I believe in my friends," Matt smiled. âAnd I wish I could stay to see them.â
His last sentence never came out of his throat as he turned around and made a call. It was already the time for him to return back to his original position in the countryâs government. The playing time that he had with those people in City of Crime would have to wait until he got the chance.
Richard followed suit for he had other matters to attend to. This country still has some wars happening here and there. Those were covert battles, but they still existed.
...
City of Crime
Waiting in the airport, Patrick grew restless. He didnât like to stay in one place for a long period of time, so waiting for his nephew and daughter to return became a large torture for him. On the side, Lou had to make sure that this man didnât create a mess in this airport.
If he did, they might have to face Kevinâs wrath because they delayed the manâs return.
"Elder Pat, Iâm sure that you can have another practice with Mike after our return. Thereâs no need to be so impatient," Lou reminded the man.
Patrick shrugged. "Iâm not impatient. I just hope that the plane can come here right away. Iâm already tired of waiting."
âIsnât that the same?â
Knowing that Patrick would never admit to it, Lou kept silent. He looked at the door with hope that Kevin would return soon enough. If their boss didnât return soon enough, he worried that Patrick would do something bad.
Thankfully, the next plane had landed and a lot of people came out.
"Is Kevin in this plane?" Patrick asked.
"Iâm not sure," Lou replied.
It didnât take long for Kevin and Kanae to come out. The two of them were walking while holding hands with one another, making Patrick rather jealous when he looked at them.
"Brat, you didnât do anything inappropriate to her when Iâm not around, right?" Patrick immediately interrogated Kevin when the two of them got close.
Kanae rolled her eyes. "Father, thereâs no way heâs going to do that."
"If he dares to do it, Iâll beat him up."
Lou face palmed. If Kevin dared to do something inappropriate, he had to face Kanae first. That girl was strong enough to contend against Kevin in a battle. Even if they ended in a tie, either one of them wouldnât have any energy to do anything else.
Kevin looked at his uncle coldly. "Howâs the progress of the city, Uncle?"
"Itâs pretty good. There are a lot of new buildings that they want to make to develop the city further. Several companies already stated that they want to join in. There are still much more, so your company can participate too if you want," Patrick turned solemn.
"Call Neo to snatch some of them. Make sure that Kale Company will be the one to supply the tools," Kevin ordered. His company, Kale Company, has been growing under Neoâs lead lately. He didnât take care of the matter personally anymore because of the clanâs matter. After this, he would start to handle them and expand to other areas too.
"Thatâs easy," Patrick grinned. "Now, you should give me other jobs to do. Iâm bored with only watching them. I need more exercise."
"Uncle, thereâs a training hall not far from Ryukalin Clan Residence. The owner is already old, so it would be better if you can stay there to take care and teach more people in martial arts," Kevin suggested.
"Becoming a teacher?" Patrick pondered. He did think about that since the city would erase Black Street area. They still could go there for the time being, but their number had decreased. Within a few years, there would be no more work for him if he continued to roam on the street.
Even though a teacher was not really fun, at least, he could stay to do martial arts. There might even be some martial arts master that he could challenge to satisfy his love of fight.
"Ask Neo to take care of them if you agree."
"Sure, Iâll make the call right away."
As Patrick took out his phone happily, the four of them had arrived by the car. Kevin glanced at Lou. "Is there any other job that you wish to do, Lou? I donât think that you should stay in Ryukalin Clan with your talent."
Lou was stunned. He had never thought about leaving Ryukalin Clan because he had lived there for his entire life. Looking back at his young boss, he shook his head lightly.
"Iâll be your secretary, Boss."
"If thatâs what you want."
"Letâs return back," Kanae smiled. "Iâm sure the others are already waiting for your return."
Kevin smiled back. "Yes."
