Chapter 39
âSo⦠Robert and I are still considered married?!â
#Finished
Elisa was hella confused after learing Robert mention their relationship status. Of course, as much as she wanted to cooperate with the agreement, it seemed Robert alone wouldnât like her.
Upon seeing Annaâs reaction, who was astounded, Elisa waved her hand.
âI mean, please donât mind it. Anyway, you know how cold he was to me,â Elisa added.
âI am hoping you can still have more children with my son,â Anna replied, somewhat saddened. âDonât tell me he had said something? Tell me, what is it?â
Elisa was stunned, opened her mouth, and was about to admit. Still, she was terrified that Anna would storm into Robertâs room and scold him for admitting the truth..
âYou know how much he wanted a divorce, soâ¦.â
As soon as Elisa mentioned it. Annaâs eyes widened in astonishment. It was what she was expecting.
âSo he said that? Oh, come on, I wonât let you and my son reach that part,â Anna replied and was too confident about it. âWe all anticipate this to happen. I knew him well as a mother. I knew someday, everything would have a different turn.â
With high hopes, Anna thought of plans in her mind. She wanted their marriage to be intact and as is in the future. She wouldnât let Robert bring another woman and wanted Elisa to be the only woman he could get pregnant with.
Hopefully, Elisa will get pregnant soon before they get divorced.
Even if Robert was too cold with Elisa, Anna could sense something-
She blinked twice and looked at Elisa, who had been observing her.
âElisa,â Anna began as she held Elisaâs hand and let her sit beside her on the couch. âI know you know how cold he was. Even to me, his grandpa, and you. At least, even though he was cold, we still didnât see any woman out there he brought here inside.â
Anna continued, âWhatâs ridiculous is that people who donât even know him well think heâs a good person. They donât know how he has a lot of flaws. He didnât even treat you well as a wife.â
âBecause itâs not his will to marry me, Elisa pointed out.
âYep. I know. But you both are still married. At least he should try it out, and if it doesnât work, then maybe in the future it will,â Anna said, wanting their relationship to create some spark.
âWhat if it still doesnât work? Why wonât we get a divorce? I mean, Robert might need having a different woman than having me instead, Elisa tried to reason out.
âYou overthink much. That wonât happen, Anna replied, smirked, and added, âOh, one more thing. Even if your husband is too cold for you, he still has a warm heart. He is good at business and everything he has Youâre the most lucky woman to have him.â

Lucky? I donât consider meeting Robert and getting married to him as lucky. Itâs bad luck.
But-
Elisa was about to tell Anna the harsh reality of Robert and her marriage, but Anna interjected.

âCome on, no more doubts, Elisa, Please give it a try and wait for what I am telling you to come true,â said Anna, tapping Elisaâs shoulder.
As much as Elisa wanted to argue, wanting Anna to realize she was not that ambitious woman who dreamed of being one of the clite, didnât dream of having a rich, cold husband like Robert, as all she wanted was a good, simple life with her mother. She didnât want a complicated life like what she had.
Speaking of her mother, she didnât want to talk more about Robert and their relationship. Her main focus was her mother, who needed an operation.
âAnyway, about my mother,â Elisa began to open.
âHmm?â Anna raised an eyebrow,
âWell, Mom said she can go to the capital anytime soon, but then again, I donât feel like I will let her be alone there,â Elisa clarified. I meant that I want to be by her side during surgery!
âThatâs not a problem,â Anna replied, smiling at her. âWhen Iâm back in the capital, you can accompany me if you want.
âAre you sure?â Elisa still couldnât believe it.
Anna nodded. âYeah. So, in that case, you can easily visit her after the surgery. Iâm sure it wonât be so quick, and you will have to undergo another comprehensive examination to see if everything is fine with your health as well.â
Elisa nodded and was thankful that she easily agreed without questioning her further.
As time passed, it was already seven in the evening.
The maids in the kitchen were busy serving all the dishes they had cooked for them, while John, including Robert, Elisa, and Anna, was already on the table.
However, Elisa was still standing at the side and decided to sit next to John, scared to sit next to Robert.
âElisa, sit next to Robert, John pointed to the empty chair on the side just for her. âYouâre his wife. Why do you seem scared to sit next to him?â
Robert could feel it.
However, Elisa waved her hand and forced a smile.
âIâm not, Elisa lied and sat on the empty chair beside Robert.
âBetter,â said John and was relieved to see them seated. âSince weâre here and all foods are served, letâs eat
now.â
Elisa ate the chicken soup served but halted as soon as she saw Robertâs cold demeanor on his side.

She paused, staring at him. Robert was in a rage and didnât dare to try to taste the chicken soup served to him.
âHmm, you donât like chicken?â John, out of the blue, broke the silence between them.
Robert didnât respond. His eyes lowered on the food.
âIf you donât, then whatever! Youâre too picky!â John said.
John heaved a sigh. As soon as he looked at Elisa, he smiled and asked, âHow does it taste?â
âIt tastes good! I mean, very delicious, Grandpa!â Elisa replied. âI love this chicken that much.â
I told you. She would love it,â said Anna on the side.
Robert hated it soon after he realized Elisa did all she could to please his mother and grandpa. It was crystal clear on his end why they loved and valued her most.
This damn woman knows how to play. Damnit!
Before John could react further, Robert slammed his spoon and fork on his plate, gathering all their
attention.
âHey!â John was startled, coldly staring at him. âWhat are you doing?â
Robert disregarded John and focused on Elisa on his side.
âIsâ¦Is there something wrong?â Elisa asked, puzzled. Her voice already trembled in fear.
âYouâre asking me whatâs wrong?! Itâs you!â Robert yelled. âYou complimented Grandpa as if you hadnât tasted any chicken out there. I know why you are doing this!â
âI donât know what you are talking about. What do you mean?â Elisa was puzzled.
âDonât act as if you donât know!â Robert clenched his fist. âYou just want to compliment Granda so heâll favor you again! This is what you want, right?!â
âRobert! Can you calm down?!â Anna interjected. She was too embarrassed,
Elisa cleared her throat and added, âI am telling the truth. It is not only to flatter or let Grandpa be in favor of me. Why donât you taste it on your own?â
âYou donât need to explain!â Robert roared.
She was wronged again. She shook her head and said, âI need to. You got it wrong again.â
With that, Robert sighed and didnât want to argue further.
Iâm done.â Robert activated his wheelchair and turned. He wasnât still far from the dinner table when he turned around, looking in Elisaâs direction. He said, âElisa, after dinner, came into my room. Letâs talk about something important
âImportant?â John mumbled, still too confused, staring at both Elisa and John.
On Johnâs side. Anna held his hand and caught his attention. âI et me handle this Grandna

âNo, she doesnât need to, Anna reasoned before Elisa could react.
âIâm not talking to you, mom. I am talking with Elisa,â Robert explained.

âI know, but Elisa will come with me to our house near the airport, as tomorrow we will be back in the capital,â Anna explained, seeming thankful it was perfect timing so the two wouldnât talk about divorce.
Robert didnât stay further and continued to move his wheelchair until he faded from their sight.
Anna sighed. She looked at Elisa and reminded her, âAfter we eat, we will leave. Just donât mind Robert.â
âOkay,â Elisa replied.
The three of them that Robert wanted to talk about were divorced. Well, that was what he wanted.
Later that time, they were done eating. As usual, Elisa and Anna leave and bid goodbye to John while John enters Robertâs room upstairs.
It should be Elisa to be there in the room, but Anna and John knew what they were doing.
As John wandered his gaze around, his eyes darted on Robert, who was sitting on the computer. He didnât care who came inside.
âRobert,â John said, standing next to Robert. âTell me. What do you still want to tell Elisa?â
âStill canât get it?â Robert raised an eyebrow. âI want a divorce!â
