Elisa had already packed her things and made up her mind to leave immediately after she signed the divorce papers. How could her husband be so cruel to her? At this point, she didnât care, all she wanted was to see her mother and make sure that everything was fine.
She went out with her suitcases to see that Grandpa was still up, and dinner had been served. He had a surprised look on his face, but beckoned on her to join him.
When she did, he asked her why her suitcases were packed up.
âIs something wrong, Elisa?â
He asked, fearing for the worst. He knew that there was only so much she could take and at this point, she seemed determined. Either she had already divorced his grandson or he had plans to. He decided to tread with caution, really hoping that it wasnât what he was thinking.
âI want to go back to school and finish my studies. Washington, not here.â
âYouâre going back to studying? Thatâs good, you really should, after all, your studies are important,â Grandpa nodded, taking a deep breath. She didnât say anything about a divorce, which meant she wasnât going to divorce his grandson, right? Hopefully.
Elisa just nodded that he had approved but at this point, she really didnât need it. She was telling him, not asking him.
âHow about you stay at the fisher family house in Washington, you donât have to deal with your
accommodations alone when you have your husband, when you have us.â
He was really hoping that it was still the case.
Elisabeth looked at her grandpa, feeling a bit reluctant.
âGrandpa, I bought a ticket for today to go back to school, so I canât stay in the family house since I didnât plan for it.â
âSo where do you plan to stay?â
Grandfather asked, alarmed to the core. She had never been this expressionless and emotionless while she -spoke. It felt like all the sunshine had left her eyes, replaced with darkness and dark determination.
âIâll stay at the Villa, so donât worry about me, Iâll be fine.â
At that point, the sound of a wheelchair could be heard and moments later, Robert was in sight. He decided to have dinner too, which was a good thing. He soon joined them.
âBut staying at the villa alone is not safe for you. Stay with us, back at the family house. If you want, I can come with you now to help you settle down.â
Elisa knew that he had signed the divorce papers because he couldnât wait to do it all this while. Even though she felt free, she was still upset that he had no single regard for her. It broke her so much to see how much he hated her and all she needed at that point was a distraction, so school it is.
âItâs really okay, Grandpa. I can take care of myself and Iâll figure it out.â

âWeâll join you later, so we completely understand if you have to go now. So please, stay. The driver will take you to school and back everyday so you donât have to worry about being late. Listen to me, after all we are still married.â
He stressed on the last word, triggering something in her.
What did he just say? But she signed the papers. Didnât he sign them too? What was this about? He had put her in a tight corner and now she didnât know what to do. She knew she would be so mad if she found out he truly didnât sign it. When she finally gave him what he wanted, he still chose to play with her feelings. She hated him but she reluctantly agreed but based on her own terms.
âGrandpa, I will come back to accompany you on weekends and holidays. Although my house is close to school, it takes an hour in the morning and in the afternoon. If there is traffic, it will take much longer, and I can save that time to study. I wonât stay at the dormitory anymore so donât worry. Do you think thatâs good?â
Upon hearing Elisabethâs gentle voice, grandfatherâs anger suddenly disappeared.
âOkay. âGrandfather nodded.
In fact, grandfather could also accept such an arrangement!
