Chapter 89 Anthony stepped forward. âI just happened t o be passing by. I can help drop you off if you need since itâs along the way,â he said in a rich and jovial voice while holding the door open for her.
Charmine immediately frowned and mentioned, âIf I remember correctly, youâre staying at The Palace Heart, am I right? Iâm staying at the Violet Villa which is a few kilometers away from you. How exactly would my place be along the way?â
While hearing her question, Anthony teased, âYou know where Iâm staying. It seems like you are interested in me and did your research thoroughly.â
âTsk! Youâre overthinking it.â While rolling her eyes at him, Charmine continued, â Youâre Burlingtonâs Prince. Everyone knows you live in that land of gold. People talk about you no matter where you go.â
Anthony was dismayed. He would have to pay attention to his reputation so that she would not hear anything unsavory about him.
âIâll be passing by. Plus, you made a promise with Momo this afternoon, right? Therefore, weâre still friends.â He then bowed slightly in a gentlemanly manner before ushering her into his car.
She was reluctant to accept the ride but was aware that she came here with Shaneâs Ferrari. Shane was supposed to be on a date with Mingail now. Charmine was in a dilemma about what to do.
Eventually, she got into the passenger seat. Anthony was over the moon as things were going his way.
The desolate streets of the city rested in silence as the starry black sky wept over them. The car moved under the glow of the bright yellow street lamps.
On their way to Violet Villa, Anthony could not help but gaze at Charmine. As the silvery -white moonlight rested upon them, the necklace resting on her collarbones could be seen so clearly. Her beauty almost took his breath away. He thought she would have taken it off but to his surprise, she still had it on her neck.
He wanted to chat with her but noticed she had immediately dozed off. She must have been exhausted.
Laying on her side, she curled up on the seat. Her sleeping posture showed how uneasy she felt.
She might look remorseless during the day but deep inside, he knew she was quite the insecure person.
Anthonyâs heart ached a little for her. He reclined the seat so that Charmine could rest well.
He slowed down his car, hoping that the smooth drive would allow her to rest well.
It would usually be a half an hour drive but it now took an hour.
The car stopped by the Violet Villaâs basement parking lot.
After turning off the engine, he decided not t o wake her up. Instead, he covered her with a blanket.
Charmine was startled awake, a vigilant look in her eyes. She immediately grabbed Anthonyâs wrist in an attempt to disarm him.
Her hand was soft and slender.
âDonât worry, itâs me,â said Anthony.
Charmineâs cold-eyed stare immediately faded after realizing it was Anthony. However, she remained apathetic toward him.
âThanks for the ride.â Charmine lifted the blanket and sat up.
âDo you want to invite me inside...â Bang! She slammed the door shut before he ended his sentence. Charmine got out from the car and left.
