âSo youâre really not going to tell me about the Dungeon? That ainât right man.â
âI told you. Not much happened there. It was an F rank Dungeon, and all me and Grandpa had to do was kill a few sharks.â
âA few sharks my ass Fred, give me the deets man.â
I Ignored my cousin as we walked through the entrance of the compound and out into the community that bordered us.
As always, Grandpa won out in the end and scouting was kicking off.
We werenât going to go very far and there was nobody going alone.
I had my spear with me and a pistol tucked in the waistband of a fresh pair of pants. It was nice to be in a fresh set of clothes again.
Anyway Rakeon had a pistol as well. He didnât have a class since he was home when everything kicked off and fortunately didnât have any opportunities to level up and gain one. Or I guess it could be unfortunate depending on how you look at it.
Our little scouting job was really simple.
Head down the street to the nearby park and see what the situation was.
Grandpa thinks areas like the park that are filled with a lot of nature and less human presence like buildings and what not, could be prime locations for a Dungeon to spawn.
So weâll check the park to see if thereâs a dungeon or anything else of interest and come back.
Simple enough.
âFine. Ignore me. Donât think I forgot about the fact you snuck a girl in your house not that long ago. Oh what would your mother think.â
âI know where you hide your stash.â
ââ¦Truce.â
âTruce.â
Speaking of my mother. It took some convincing for her to allow me to leave on our scouting trip, but dad took care of it. I think.
Technically I didnât need permission and if I wanted to do something I would do it. But itâs a respect thing. And I would always respect the woman who raised me. Plus dad might break me in half if I didnât, and thatâs not even mentioning what Grandpa would do.
âSo Freddy, what do you think is going to happen form now on? Think the Gov is going to get control of the situation?â
âHonestly I doubt itâ¦I donât think Grandpa is wrong about this getting worse. I got a bad feeling that something else is coming and it wonât be pretty.â
âDonât go jinxing us Freddy, I got a lot of life to live.â
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Our little banter carried on for a bit as we walked towards the park, and despite the fact we appeared calm and even joked a bit with each other, we were constantly watching for any sign of trouble.
We werenât out here to fight.
If it looked like a fight was coming, the number one priority was to get back home. We were only to fight if it couldnât be avoided.
Thankfully nothing happened on the way to the park and we made it and began looking around for any signs of a Dungeon.
Or anything else for that matter.
We found absolutely nothing.
It was the same old park as we as it always was.
The scouting trip was over and we began making our way home.

âFreddy letâs g-â
CAWWWWWWWW!!!
CAWWW!!!
CAWWWWW!!!
CAWWW!!!
There was no more need to talk, we took off in a mad sprint back to the compound as the loud cries of giant birds could be heard coming from seemingly everywhere.
I donât know how many different cries I heard, and I donât really want to spend time figuring it out.
We werenât that far in the first place so it didnât take long to run back, even though I had to slow my pace a bit not to leave my cousin behind. The difference in attributes making itself known already.
Tat tat tat!
Tat tat tat!
As we neared the gates, the unmistaken sound of a rifle going off could be heard in the direction opposite of the way we took to the park.
I stopped.
That was the direction dad went in.
âFreddy come back your dad can handle himself.â
He was probably right, but as always I couldnât help myself.
âGo tell Grandpa the situation, Iâll be back. â
I dashed off after that and I could hear my cousin curse as I took off. He probably wanted to follow me, but I was too fast for him at full speed and well someone did have to tell the others back home.
Running with a spear in one hand and a pistol in the other I hit a corner just in time to see Uncle Mack and Dad hiding behind an SUV that was left in the middle of the street as about 5 or so red people were on the other side of the street shooting at them with bow and arrows.
The situation didnât look good. Uncle Mack was sitting on the floor with an arrow through his damn thigh
Fuck.
Alright.
I hadnât been spotted yet so I turned back around and quickly ran around to the street parallel to this one. They had my Dad and Uncle pinned but they obviously didnât advance too much either as they were probably scared of the bullets.
Well Iâm going to give them something to really be scared about.
I sprinted up the street for a bit then slowed my pace as I neared the edge of the street to where it connected and I could hear them yelling in a language I couldnât understand.
Using the house on the end of the street as cover I crept around until I could see the bastards clear as day, and as I brought the pistol up to shoot, one of them turned towards me with wide eyes.
And turned his already drawn bow in my direction.
I turned to my right slightly and as if I had been practicing the move a million times, I activated surging step and dashed to my right just in time as an arrow whizzed past me, thankfully missing by a good margin.
The distance I traveled was a lot smaller than what it was in the ocean, but for now it didnât matter.
Bang Bang Bangâ¦Bang!
I squeezed the trigger as many times as I could until the slide of the pistol locked back showcasing that it was empty.
The red people scattered as best as they could as I was firing but it was futile. They werenât faster than bullets.
And my dad wasnât stupid.
The second I started squeezing the trigger, I could hear a rifle going off from the other side and very quickly the ground was filled with the bodies of red people.
A few notifications filled my eyesight but I ignored them and ran off to help Dad with carrying Uncle Mack, and I could see Grandpa and the whole family, save for the young children rushing down the street as well.
Grandpa was yelling.
âWE NEED TO HURRY UP!! THERE ARE A LOT MORE OF THEM!!â
Fuck.
