Finally what you guys were waiting for even when I suck at writing the Male Protagonist's POVð
But anyway, here you go lol.
Shivaay's POV -
Right from the first minute I laid my eyes on Mythili, there was something about her which kept on drawing me towards her. She had a kind of innocence within her which I will protect till my last breath. Her self doubt is one thing that never ceases to surprise me. In these months, there hasn't been one time that she has asked me for anything except for that cat.
She wants nothing and cares about everything. She says nothing but thinks about everyone. She has given up on herself and that was one thing which didn't settle well with me.
" Mr. Rathore, you are home. I'll get your dinner. You can go and freshen up." Mythili, who was sitting in front of the Television said as I walked in after dealing with her parent's who were planning to send some questionable allegation notices to her. It took my lawyers a few hours to get them quashed.
I loosened my tie and gave her a nod before going up to the room where I saw her books and highlighters lying on the bed along with her dupatta and I couldn't help but smile at the sight. This room did not feel mechanical anymore, unoccupied anymore. Her things lying around made it more humane and I felt a warmth within.
I changed and made my way downstairs to the dining table where she had already placed food and was just getting water for me.
" Thank you." I told her and she rewarded me with one of her smiles, sitting next to me.
" How was your first day at work?" I asked her while she was having her dinner too. Maa had already gone to bed. It was late.
" It went really good. Shalini ma'am had asked me to read a few marketing cases and then summarise them for her." She replied and I nodded. It was her training going on and will continue till the end of this week. From the next one, she will actually start working on the projects.
We were done with the dinner and she took the plates which I let her because Maa had asked me to let her feel at home and do these normal things so that she stops seeing herself as an unwanted burden anymore. I didn't agree with her but I would not go against her either.
" Go to bed Mythili. You have an early college and then work." I asked her when I saw her reaching for the Television remote once again. It was almost midnight.
" Just one last episode Mr. Rathore. Promise!" She said without even looking at me and focusing on the screen religiously and I shook my head in amusement before going up to the room.
I had a few compliance reports to read and approve. The recent acquisition was not just bringing money and investors to the Company, along with that, good reputation and the stock prices were soaring high. For that, everything needed to be on time because we were answerable to the investors. Once I was done with the first file, it was already two and Mythili was still not here.
I went back to the living room where I found her typing something on her laptop before shutting it down.
" Stupid professors. What is with them and last minute assignments?" She was talking to herself as she closed her eyes, still sitting on the couch.
" If you are done watching TV and finishing up your assignments, sleep Mythili." I couldn't hold my tongue back and grabbed her attention as she gasped, throwing herself off the couch.
" Oh My God....you scared me!" She said, looking at me accusingly, jumping on her feet.
" Come on." I asked her again.
" What are you still doing up?" She asked, following me.
" Work." I replied.
" You also have work tomorrow. You should also go to sleep." She said and I turned around to find her rubbing her eyes in the harshest manner possible.
" Stop." I held her hands in mine, taking them away from her eyes as she started at me in confusion. Holding her hands felt right. It was almost as if were made for me to hold and I found her shiver a little. I felt my heart skip a beat when she continued to look at me
" What?" She asked, standing in the same position, averting her eyes away this time.
" You will hurt yourself." I said and she shook her head.
" I won't." Was all she said before I left her hand even when I did not want to and we walked inside the room and her eyes landed on the bed.
" I am so sorry Mr. Rathore. I didn't realise that my things were still lying around." She said, reaching for her books and dupatta.
" What are you sorry for Mrs. Rathore? This is your room too. Is it only necessary for your things to be around." I told her as I took her books from her hand and made her sit down on the bed while I kept them away on the nightstand but she stood up, again.
" I am going to sleep there." She pointed to the couch and sneaked away from me before I caught hold of her hand again.
" If someone has to sleep on the couch, it is going to be me." I told her, picking the pillow from the bed but she took it away from me.
" I called the dibs first so I get the couch." She said, trying to break free of my hold.
If this is how she wanted to play, okay.
" I don't think so. You see, I was working there till ten minutes ago. So going by your logic, it's mine." I replied pointing towards the laptop and my files. Her eyes followed.
" No. I want the couch." She shot back and her cat meowed angrily, getting up from it's bed at the corner perhaps because of all the disturbance to her sleep.
" Snowflake, I fed you and I petted you. Why are you up again?" Mythili spoke to her cat as if she could understand a word she was saying and the cat meowed back at her again, making its way to the bed and sitting on the cushion.
" Snowflake....shoo!" She said and my clutch on Mythili loosened as she went to her cat on the bed and then looked all around the room before speaking again.
" Umm.....I guess this bed is big enough for both of us. You can sleep on one side and I'll take the other." She finally said, taking her cat in her arms and placing the cushions in the middle of the bed and then looked proud of herself and I couldn't stop myself from laughing at her expressions this time.
" What?" She asked, getting up from the bed and walking to the Cat's bed, placing it there and getting some water for her.
" Nothing. If at any point of time you feel uncomfortable, just tell me Mythili. The couch is perfectly comfortable." I reassured her as she sat on the side of the bed which overlooks the window.
" I trust you." Was her reply before lying down and covering herself with the duvet, hiding her face with it and as much as I craved to see her beautiful blush, I did not want her to get uncomfortable but her words sent an assuring wave to my heart and this was the first time I felt something like this for a woman, my wife.
I went to the other side and lied down beside her, a wall of cushions separating us. She might trust me but I will have to work on making her talk to me, which for all I know her, was not going to be an easy job but then again, when have I backed out of a challenge?

Mythili's POV -
I was trying my best to avoid Shivaay but he was not making this easy for me. I had decided that I'll get out of the room before he wakes up in the morning and come back once he has fallen asleep at night but somehow, we ended up sharing the freaking bed and I was the one who suggested it like a fool but my defence was the I was too tired and sleepy that night to think straight.
After that, for the next two weeks I found myself pretty successful in avoiding him at work mainly because he was in meetings all day with people and at would come late home so late and tired that he would fall asleep before I could finish my assignments and studying.
But Sundays were difficult since he was home. The last two Sunday's maa and I had gone shopping but this Sunday, today, she was throwing a party for the NGO kids and I had volunteered to help her and honestly, it was really fun to plan and prepare!
Shivaay was in the hall, watching the match between India and Australia while Maa was in the kitchen, looking after the food with the cooks. I was decorating the balcony a bit with nice wooden show pieces and colourful ones too but I wanted to place one of them at the end of the railing and my hand wasn't reaching till there, no matter how hard I was trying.
" What do you think you are doing Mythili?" I heard his voice and internally cringed as he found me leaning to the railing for the thousandth time.
" Before you taunt me for trying to kill myself, I will tell you. I am trying to keep this there." I replied, still leaning and trying.
" That is relieving to know. Now give that to me." He asked me, keeping a hand on my shoulder and pulling me away from the railing and his one touch sends goosebumps all over for for some weird reason!
He then took the flower pot from my hands and made me step aside before keeping it.
" A bit towards the left." I asked him and he did ask I asked.
" No. A bit towards right." I added again because it didn't look like I wanted it to on the left but then it looked worse in the right.
" No actually. Back to left and a bit towards the centre too." I said, analysing the plant.
" Left or centre?" He asked in a bored tone.
" A bit towards the left but not extreme left." I replied.
" No, No. Take it towards our side and not the opposite side." I tried to correct him.
" Just a plant Mythili. It doesn't care if it's geometrically placed right or not." Shivaay said and I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing at his annoyance.
" But I do. You get aside Mr. Rathore and let me do it." I asked him.
" And risk your fall? I prefer this Mrs. Rathore." He said, adjusting the pot as I asked him.
" My name is Mythili." I reminded him after he used the abbreviation.
" My name is Shivaay." He reminded me, turning to look at me and I looked down, fidgeting with my fingers.
" Thank you." I spoke up before walking in and he followed me.
" You have been avoiding me." He said, freezing me to the spot and I closed my eyes shut.
So much for not noticing!!!
" Wh...why will I avoid you?" I stammered and decided against turning around to look at him.
" This is what I want to know from you." He shot back.
" I don't know what you are talking about, honestly." I said, still not looking at him.
" Of course you do." Was his reply as he came and stood in front of me, placing his index finger on my chin and pulling my face upwards by his thumb and I found myself looking into those eyes which initially terrified me and now, they allure me in.
" I haven't been doing anything like that." I lied through my gritted teeth.
" Still not a good liar. You cannot lie to save your life Mythili." He tsked and shook his head, amusement dancing in his eyes.
" I...I need to help Maa in the kitchen." I said, trying to get away from his questioning gaze but it did not work.
" She has gone to her room to rest." He spoke up, not letting me go.
" Th...then I have to go and clean the hall a bit." I took a step away from him but he walked one ahead.
" That is not your work. We have the help for that." He countered.
" I need to get some food for Snowflake." I listed.
" I have already fed your cat." He replied, clearly enjoying making me nervous.
" I have a few assignments." I lied.
" But weren't you telling Maa this morning that you were already done with all of them?" He raised a brow and took one step ahead.
" I...I...." I tried to say something but nothing came to my mind.
" Out of excuses, are we Mrs. Rathore?" Shivaay asked and I looked away from his eyes, once again.
" I don't know what you're talking about." I blatantly denied his allegations, not knowing what more to say.
" Back to lying, I see." He said, his eyes twinkling in amusement but then he grew serious when I failed to give him a reply.
" I need to get dressed for the party." I finally thought of something real this time which was not a lie.
" You are going to have to tell me what is going on in that head of yours Mrs. Rathore. I pride myself in reading people but you are one person who still feels like a mystery to me." He said every word with such clarity that my cheeks reddened and I brought my hair to my face with a small head shake before looking away.
All he did was push away the hair from my face and tucked them behind my ear and as his fingers brushed my cheek which only deepened my stupid blush!
What is wrong with me!
He then quit drilling me with questions and I made my way to the room while he was once again in front of the Cricket match going on.
" What is he doing to me?" I couldn't comprehend what he wanted. I was so confused!
I sat down on the bed for a while to let my racing heart calm down for a while before taking a deep breath.
" I should be getting ready." I spoke to myself once again before walking into the closet where on one side were his clothes and mine on the other.
I scanned through it before I found a perfect dress for a children's party. It was a white off shoulder puffed sleeve top with my blue bellbottoms. I left my hair open and did a bit of make-up and was good to go.
Mythili's Look -
" Maa now stop working. I will take care of everything else. You go and enjoy with your friends and the kids." I asked her as I spotted her in the kitchen while the party had started.
" This is almost done beta. You go and enjoy the party." She told me instead.
" Of course not. Let me work Maa. You go. I promise that I'll manage everything here." I told her, dragging her out of the kitchen to her friends with whom she had already introduced me.
" Why don't you listen to me Mythili? How much do you want to work?" She asked me and I laughed.
" Look who's talking." I said, leaving her with her friends and then going around, juggling between entertaining the kids and overlooking the kitchen where the cooks and rest of the help were working.
Shivaay was here a while back before he got a work call and excused himself to the room.
" Didi, we want to play musical chairs." The kids demanded, excited.
" Of course but who wants burgers before playing?" I tempted them with a bit of food and they chorused me together, making me laugh.
The kids ate, played and had a lot of fun and so did I. Maa and her friends looked exhausted by the end of the Party and I was a bit tired too.
I then gave all the kids some candies and stationery before the cars took them back to the orphanage. Maa's friends had left too.
" Where is Shivaay?" She asked me once everyone had left.
" I think he got a work call Maa. He went upstairs." I replied, sitting next to her.
" Mythili I am too tired to do anything. Please make sure that your husband doesn't forget to have dinner?" She asked and I nodded.
" You don't worry Maa. Go to bed." I assured her that I'll see to it and then she wished me goodnight and left to her room.
I sighed and walked to the kitchen to get some dinner for Shivaay and then made my way to the room where he was sitting in front of his laptop.
" Dinner." I grabbed his attention, keeping the plate on the table in front of him but all he did was give me a distracted nod.
" Mr. Rathore, Maa has instructed me to make you have dinner first so please help me out here." I asked him again but he hadn't stopped typing.
" This has to go out in the next twenty minutes Mythili. Leave the plate here. I will eat it once I am done." He said, looking at the file and back to the laptop.
I couldn't let the food get cold so I decided to help him eat and brought the spoon of rice to my mouth. That's when he looked at her.
" I don't want you to eat cold food." I clarified as he was still looking at me before finally taking a bite.
I looked away, not holding his gaze and focused to the plate in hand. Eventually, his focus shifted back to his laptop but I continued to make him eat.
" You haven't eaten either." He commented. Okay, there was no way he could have known that! He was in this room all time but then again, he would catch my lie.
" How did you know?" I asked meekly, getting another bite for him but he took the spoon from my hand in his and brought it to my lips.
" Because you don't eat dinner before I have and I don't want you to do that anymore." He answered my question.
" I don't mind waiting for you. I know how it feels like to eat alone all the time even when you live with your family." I shrugged my shoulders as his hand still lingered near my lips with the spoon.
" Eat Mythili." He asked and I found myself obeying him automatically and taking the bite, not looking away from him once.
