Chapter 52: a new kind of acceptance

a journey in my own skinWords: 582

If I could take them off, would I still be me?

Would I feel whole, or empty, or free?

The scars that speak of what I've been through,

Are the things that have shaped the strength inside too.

They're not just marks, they're maps of my soul,

Each one a piece of the journey, a part of the whole.

So yes, at times, they've frightened my heart,

But they've also been the pieces that gave me a start.

Perhaps they are a gift I once didn't see,

The scars that remind me of who I can be.

In their presence, I find a new kind of grace,

That without them, I'd never have found my true place.
