Chapter 552 Being Watched Covertly
Yeates and Saxton were truly two extremes, but they both perfectly confirmed the saying, âYou reap what you sow.â
After a few days, Charlotte and Joe arrived at the police station together.
According to Yeatesâs statement, the man who had come to bribe her was an average-looking guy. He seemed to be
taking orders from someone else, frequently exchanging messages with others as if seeking someoneâs opinion.
The police decided to have Yeates attempt to contact that man, so they informed Charlotte and Joe to come along. If they
could apprehend that man, they could also determine whether he had any conflicts with them.
Charlotte and Joe went willingly.
In just a few days, Yeates had become noticeably worn out.
Upon seeing Charlotte, she immediately grew excited. âCharlotte! Please save me! Iâm willing to become a key witness to
help you find the real mastermind behind this! I beg you, I canât afford to have a criminal record!â
Charlotte looked at her expressionlessly. âIf thatâs the case, why did you still let yourself be bribed?â
Yeates was momentarily speechless. Suddenly, she glared at Charlotte with a fierce intensity. âPeople like you, born with
everything handed to you, what do you understand? You didnât even have to do anything, yet you gained the favor of
Gideon. And me? Iâve been pursuing him for three years, but he wouldnât even give me a proper glance!â
âIf it werenât for being pushed to a corner, why would I sell your design planâ¦â
Joe took a step forward, blocking Yeatesâs gaze.
He lowered his gaze, a cold smirk playing on his lips. âStarting from when you devised the plan to distance her from
Gideon to later stealing the design plan, who forced you into this? Does this even qualify as being compelled?â
Enter titleâ¦
Yeates was about to say more, but even the police officer beside them couldnât bear it any longer. He knocked on the
table. âDo you not know why youâre here? Quickly make the call!â
Only then did Yeates fall silent. She cast a glance of grievance at the police officer, took out her phone, and dialed the
number.
Ten seconds, twenty seconds, thirty secondsâ¦
The call went unanswered, and the other side didnât pick up.
Furrows appeared on Yeatesâs forehead. âThis canât be! I contacted him just a couple of days ago! Why would he ignore
my calls?â
Yeates tried several more times, but the other person never answered. Eventually, the call wouldnât even go through
anymore, suggesting that the other party had blocked her.
The police officer frowned as well. âIt seems like the other party has blocked you.â
âBut just a couple of days ago, he asked me if I could provide more substantial evidence if Saxton were to take legal
action,â Yeates said incredulously. If she couldnât establish contact with him, wouldnât she lose the chance to clear her
name?
Charlotteâs brow furrowed. âThe fact that heâs not answering your calls now could indicate heâs aware of your arrest. This
suggests he might have been covertly keeping tabs on you.â
However, Joe didnât share the same perspective. He looked at Charlotte. âI think itâs more likely that heâs aware of your
whereabouts.â
Charlotte was a little stunned. âMe?â
Joeâs expression grew solemn. âIf thatâs the case, itâs highly likely the other party knew about us coming for Yeates from
the very first day.â
This would also explain why the other side was cutting off Yeatesâs calls decisively now.
Even though both possibilities held weight, Charlotte instinctively agreed with Joeâs words for some reason.
Perhaps someone was indeed silently observing her every move
