sense of maturity and stability. This was probably what his parents had hoped for the most.
âYouâre back. What about the childâ¦â Charlotte glanced behind him but didnât see Danny.
David smiled and explained, âDannyâs condition has completely recovered. The doctor allowed him to return to school,
and my parents took him to choose a school today.â
Charlotte breathed a sigh of relief, genuinely happy for David.
While the Lily incident was regrettable, Dannyâs recovery was indeed a fortunate event.
Silence fell between the two of them.
Over a year of separation had added a layer of unfamiliarity, increasing the distance between them.
âSince itâs a coincidence, why donât we have dinner together?â David smiled and suggested to Charlotte.
Charlotte thought for a moment and nodded in agreement. Coincidentally, at this moment, Ben and Anna were also done
with school, and the three children rushed happily toward David.
âMr. Johnson!â Anna was the first to run over and tightly hugged David.
David smiled warmly as he embraced her and let out a sigh, âLittle princess has grown up.â
