âA strange old lady?â Charlotte checked the two of them once again, making
sure everything was alright before finally letting out a sigh of relief.
Ben and Anna nodded. âAfter we were pushed into the cave by those people,
we initially wanted to go back to find you, but it was too dark⦠Then, an old lady
appeared. She asked us to hold her hand and said she would lead us out. She
also asked us lots of strange questions.â
âWhat kind of strange questions?â As Charlotte listened, she felt something was
amiss. According to Ben and Annaâs descriptions, it seemed like this old lady
had been waiting there from the beginning, as if she already knew Ben and
Anna would appear.

âShe asked us if we liked Dad or Mom more, whether Mom was good to us, and
some other questions. I⦠canât remember them all.â Anna looked a bit uneasy and glanced at Ben. Ben then proceeded to recount all the questions the old
lady had asked.
Charlotteâs brows furrowed tightly. Just based on Ben and Annaâs descriptions,
this old lady did seem quite peculiar. However, she hadnât harmed Ben and
Anna in any way.
The two kids were safe for now, so she didnât dwell on it further.
After making a call to Joe to reassure him of their safety, Charlotte walked out of
the cave, holding Benâs and Annaâs hands.
At the exit, Joe furrowed his brows and scanned the crowd with his eyes, taking
what felt like an eternity before finally spotting them in the crowd.
Joe hurried over and embraced his wife and children tightly.
At that moment, he could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
On the way back, Charlotte told the strange encounter with the old lady with
Joe.
Joeâs perspective aligned closely with Charlotteâs. Since the lady hadnât harmed
Ben and Anna, they didnât intend to investigate further.
After this ordeal, both Charlotte and Joe had assumed that Ben and Anna
wouldnât dare to continue playing. However, to their surprise, their kidsâ spirits
remained undampened, and they eagerly wanted to try other attractions.
Charlotte and Joe exchanged a glance and reluctantly agreed.
They spent the entire day at the amusement park, playing from morning till
night. It wasnât until after watching the fireworks display that Ben and Anna
finally lay down on Charlotteâs and Joeâs shoulders, falling into a deep sleep.
In the car on the way back, Joeâs assistant shared the investigation results of
the auction murder case. The killer had been arrested, a close friend of the
murdered couple.
Due to financial disputes, the killer had been secretly investigating and tracking
them. On that fateful night, during a heated argument between the couple, he
took advantage of the situation by posing as a waiter and stealthily entered their room, where he killed them before quietly leaving.
After hearing the assistantâs report, Charlotte and Joe were briefly saddened but
didnât connect this incident to themselves.
Little did they know that this event was part of a conspiracy targeting them.
Having already purchased their dream island and thoroughly enjoyed their time
in Bexonia, Charlotte and Joe returned to with Ben and Anna.
Back at the Smith Family, Ben and Anna excitedly recounted their recent
journey to Sir Smith.
Grinning, Sir Smith affectionately ruffled their hair and asked, âWere you happy
going out with your mom and dad?â
âOf course!â Anna nodded earnestly. âOur mom and dad are the best in the
world!â
Seeing their children so delighted, Charlotte couldnât help but smile.
