Chapter 735 It Was Mercenaries!
âWhatâs going on?â Catherine also turned pale and hurriedly looked inside, but
there was no sign of Charlotte.
She instinctively supported Old Mr. Clinton, even though she didnât know the
details; the scene indicated that something had happened to Charlotte.
Joe had no choice but to try to reassure them, âWe havenât found Charlotte yet,
so please donât worry for now.â
His gaze shifted to Sir Smith and Old Mr. Clinton, âI need to go find Charlotte
immediately. Please take care of Ben and Anna.â
Old Mr. Clinton and Sir Smith nodded solemnly, âRest assured, we will take
good care of Ben and Anna.â
They exchanged a glance, and they could see nervousness and concern in
each otherâs eyes.
Staring at the seemingly bottomless doorway, Sharon looked at Joe, âWerenât
you in charge of overseeing this project? How come thereâs an extra opening,
and you had no idea?â
Joeâs face turned dark and unpleasant. If it werenât for what happened to Charlotte today, he might have never known that there was actually a hidden
doorway behind this wall.
Who on earth had the audacity to cause such a commotion right under his nose
and snatch Charlotte away?
Without any hesitation, he was about to rush into the doorway.
However, Sharon grabbed him and scolded, âArenât you afraid there might be an
ambush inside? If something happens, Charlotte will blame me in return!â
Joe shook off his hand with a determined look. âIâm not afraid! Charlotte is waiting for me to rescue her. All those so-called safe methods take too much
time. Iâm worried she canât hold on for that long.â
With that said, he lowered his head and went in.
Seeing him go so resolutely and decisively, Sharon didnât bother to say anything
more and quickly followed his footsteps.
Through the doorway was a dark and seemingly endless corridor. Even the
stone walls on both sides were embedded with modern lighting fixtures.
Judging from the marks on the walls, this corridor wasnât dug through suddenly.
Perhaps it had been completed when this building was constructed.
After walking for who knew how long, Sharon suddenly stopped in his tracks.
âWait a moment,â Sharonâs gaze fell on the wall of the corridor, and sure
enough, he once again saw the marks left by Mandy in the corner.
âAlthough we donât know what exactly happened, Mandy should have followed
as soon as she realized something was wrong, which is why she left these marks.â
The more Sharon looked, the more he brow furrowed. He quickened his pace
and ran toward the exit.
After who knew how long they had been running, they finally made it through
this long corridor and found themselves directly on the beach.
âThisâ¦â
Joe still couldnât believe it. He turned around and looked back at the long
corridor. How could he not have known about it?
âOver there!â
His gaze fell on a figure lying not far away on the beach. After making eye
contact with Sharon, they rushed towards that person quickly.
It was Mandy!
Mandyâs upper body was half submerged in the seawater, and there was a huge gunshot wound on her shoulder, which had stained the nearby sand and
seawater dark red.
Sharon furrowed her brow, carefully examining Mandyâs injuries. Her expression
turned extremely grim.
With a serious expression, he picked up Mandy and said to Joe, âItâs a gunshot
wound.â
The angle from which the shooter fired was extremely tricky, hitting Mandy hard
but not taking her life.
At this moment, Mandy suddenly opened her eyes and tightly grasped Sharonâs
hand, saying, âIt was mercenaries!â
