Chapter 758 Moment of Reunion
Joe quickly hugged her, allowing Charlotte to lean on his chest.
Even if the person in front of her was very unfamiliar, the smell of him somehow
relaxed Charlotte. She slightly struggled for a moment, but eventually softened
into his embrace.
âDo you feel uncomfortable?â Joe looked at Charlotte with concern.
Charlotte shook her head, about to speak, but Martha interrupted her.
âI think she might have been affected by being transported around by those
people; she just needs some rest,â Martha gently said, trying to reach out to pull
Charlotte, but Joe avoided her while holding Charlotte.
Joeâs face darkened slightly, âSince sheâs not feeling well, let me hold her.â
Martha hesitated for a moment, frowning, âBut wouldnât it be too tiring for you?
Why donât I help her?â
âIf I canât even carry my wife, then Iâm useless,â Joe replied indifferently, causing Martha to freeze for a moment. After a while, she gently answered, âI was just
too concerned about you. Be careful not to drop her.â
Between their back-and-forth conversation, Charlotte felt increasingly
uncomfortable.
It seemed as if a voice in her head was telling her that she must speak up for
Martha. However, her subconscious seemed to be against it, the two opposing
thoughts were constantly colliding in her mind, making her feel nauseous.
Noticing her discomfort, Joe leaned down and asked, âAre you alright? Do you
want me to call a doctor?â
Martha gave a light cough, and Charlotte immediately swallowed her words.
She shook her head, âNo need; Iâll be fine with some rest.â
Finishing speaking, she wanted to get down from Joeâs embrace.
But Joe stopped her, âLet me hold you.â
At this point, Charlotteâs eyes were filled with unfamiliarity toward him. Only by
holding her in his arms could he truly feel her presence.
Charlotte no longer had the strength to struggle and simply leaned on him.
Joe adjusted his position to make her more comfortable and asked, âHow did
you end up here? Do you remember?â
Charlotte looked at Joe with a bit of confusion and hesitated before shaking her head, âI⦠When I woke up, I was already being auctioned off. I donât remember anything else.â Joeâs face darkened and he turned to Dylan, âWhy was she being auctioned off?
I need an explanation.â
Dylan, with a stern face, said without emotion, âIâve already had someone look
into it, but the person who sent her to the auction is already dead.â
The other party moved fast, killing everyone who had contact with Charlotte.
There was no evidence left to find.
Joe suppressed his anger and said, âDo you think this excuse will fool me?â
Joe glanced at the bodyguards nearby, and several of them immediately
surrounded Dylan.
The waiters outside noticed something was wrong and rushed in.
The atmosphere in the private room became tense in an instant.
Martha also didnât expect the situation to suddenly turn like this; she looked
somewhat at a loss toward Hope, who frowned.
âItâs been a long time since anyone dared to make trouble on my turf,â said
Selina, the boss of the black market, striding in with an indifferent smile at Joe.
Even holding Charlotte, Joe still had an imposing presence.
