As Charlotte had suspected, the Wallace family intermittently consulted several
psychologists over the next few days. However, everyone who examined Helin concluded that she did not have depression.
Even the persistent Mrs. Wallace had to believe the doctorsâ verdict at this point.
Charlotte had initially thought that Mrs. Wallace would calm down after this, but
she couldnât have anticipated that, without a confirmed diagnosis of depression,
Mrs. Wallace would turn to them again.
âAre you suggesting that we talk to Helin and try to console her?â Charlotte
looked at Mrs. Wallace in disbelief.
Was she really suggesting that they should try to console Helin? Wouldnât that
potentially worsen her depression?
Mrs. Wallace glanced awkwardly at Joe and said, âIâd like⦠Mr. Smith to do it.â
Charlotte finally understood. Mrs. Wallace had gone through all this trouble just
for this purpose.
Originally, they probably intended to have Helin diagnosed with depression and
then use this as a reason to ask Joe to console her. However, the psychologists quickly saw through their plan. Mrs. Wallace subsequently got straight to the
point with her idea.
âThis is impossible; please leave,â Joe immediately refused Mrs. Wallace without
hesitation.
Mrs. Wallace became anxious at once. She looked at Joe with teary eyes and
said, âIâm not asking you actually to do anything with her. Just⦠canât you try to
comfort her, even just a little?â
âItâs impossible,â Joe coldly replied, looking at Mrs. Wallace.
âHelin used to be happy before until she met you! Now sheâs like this. Why canât
you just comfort her a bit?â Mrs. Wallace was both anxious and angry, and she rattled off a string of words with teary eyes.
Joe remained calm and composed, gazing at her. âYou should know better than
me that such methods wonât benefit Helin at all. I cannot risk making my wife
unhappy to console someone unrelated to me.â
Mrs. Wallace was taken aback by how coldly Joe spoke. She covered her mouth,
looking at him in disbelief.
âPlease leave,â Charlotte added icily.
Seeing that the two of them were united in driving her away, Mrs. Wallace, who already had a thin face, couldnât bear it any longer. She left their villa in tears.
Even Charlotte couldnât help but sigh at the way the Wallace family handled
things.
After this incident, no one from the Wallace family came to their doorstep again.
Instead, they left the area with Helin.
As for where they moved, that was no longer interesting to Charlotte and Joe.
They had more important matters to attend to: Charlotteâs treatment had come to
an end.
After completing a psychological treatment session yesterday, Dr. Garie
specifically asked Charlotte to stay back. âUp to this point, youâve undergone a
full three months of treatment. I believe you no longer need to continueâ¦â
Charlotte looked at Dr. Garie in shock. âButâ¦â
Though she no longer experienced nightmares, her memories had not fully
returned; they were still fragmented.
Dr. Garie shook his head and said, âMy treatment for you could only remove the
psychological suggestions that Smollett once implanted in your mind. Your
memories⦠perhaps theyâll need the right trigger to fully come back.â
Continuing treatment here obviously wouldnât provide that trigger. Dr. Garie
explained with a hint of helplessness.
Charlotte nodded.
During these three months here, it felt more like spending time pleasantly with
two old friends than undergoing treatment.
It had been a great comfort to her spirit
