The team leader paused for a moment and let out a small sigh.
While the wind had diminished somewhat, the swirling debris in the air was
increasing. He even spotted a series of ice fragments about the size of a
babyâs fist.
Getting hit by one of those could be deadly.
âDonât worry,â the team leader reassured them as he noticed their silence.
âAccording to our measurements, this wind should pass in about two hours.
Weâll be there to find you as soon as itâs safe.â
Joe and Charlotte exchanged glances and agreed.
Enter titleâ¦
The continuous bombardment of debris temporarily made Charlotte forget
about the pain in her head as she focused intently on Joe.
âWhy are you staring at me like that?â
Even Joe found it a bit odd to be scrutinized so intently by Charlotte.
Charlotte didnât know what was going on in Joeâs mind. She simply shook her head and said, âJust now, in that moment of dizziness, I felt like weâve
experienced something like this beforeâ¦â
Hearing Charlotteâs words, Joe widened his eyes slightly, gazing at her
intensely. âWe have indeed experienced it⦠Do you remember?â
Charlotte initially thought it was just a fleeting illusion, but she was astonished
to discover that it had happened.
This statement acted like a key, unlocking the door to her memories.
Her face was deathly pale, and she tightly closed her eyes, feeling the
onslaught of memories and a severe headache.
âWhatâs happening to you?â Joe, in anxious concern, looked at Charlotte. He
struggled to free himself, using nearly all his strength to pull his right hand out and gently touch Charlotteâs face.
Sensing her abnormally warm forehead, Joeâs heart sank slowly. âYou have a
fever?â
A fever in such a situationâ¦
He took the walkie-talkie from Charlotteâs hand and informed the team about
the situation.
The team leaderâs tone became more solemn. âDonât worry. The wind has
calmed down a bit now. We will come as quickly as possible. Mrs. Smithâ¦
you may need to hold on a little longer.â
Joe knew that being anxious wouldnât help at this point, so he hung up the
walkie-talkie and continued to focus on Charlotteâs face.
He had accidentally knocked off his gloves during his struggle, and now his
hands felt icy cold.
Joe placed his hand on Charlotteâs forehead, hoping to help reduce her fever.
At this moment, Charlotte couldnât sense the changes around her. Countless
past images flashed rapidly before her eyes.
She had to exert all her strength to see each of these images clearly and
gradually recall her memories.
She didnât know how long had passed when she slowly opened her eyes.
Joe immediately looked at her with concern. âAre you feeling better? Is there
any discomfort?â
Charlotte stared into Joeâs eyes and said slowly, word by word, âI remember
everything now.â
âWhat do you rememberâ¦â Joe was still concerned about Charlotteâs
condition and didnât react at first. Then, his eyes widened involuntarily.
He looked at Charlotte and asked, âYouâve recovered your memories?â
Charlotte nodded. âI remember everything⦠Thank you for being with me during this time.â
Joe didnât expect that her first words after regaining her memories would be this. He furrowed his brows, about to respond.
But then, Charlotte suddenly smiled and earnestly said to him, âI love you.â
