They did not see clearly at first. âBoom!â A noise sounded as the place they were standing before collapsed, revealing sharp protruding stones underneath. If they had reacted a little slower, they wouldâve been buried under the snow pile.
Stella was still in shock. When she saw Roger disappear from where he was standing, she asked, âWhereâs Roger?â
Stella was in a daze. Her vision was very blurry, so she was unable to see sometimes. She lost sight of Roger after all that happened in a flash.
Weston held her waist. âDonât go there yet. Thereâs a good chance that he fell insideâ¦â
âIf we go there now, weâll fall with him.â
Stella refused to listen. âBut Roger is still thereâ¦â
Weston held her firmly. When he saw her blank eyes, he observed her closely. âWhatâs wrong with your eyes?â
He had noticed something was wrong with her, but his priority was to get her out. There was clearly something wrong with her eyes.
Weston lifted his hand and waved it in front of her eyes, but she did not respond. âYou canât see?â
Stella took a deep breath and avoided his question. Whereâs Roger? Iâll go with himâ¦â
((
âAre you crazy?â Weston lowered his voice and said to her, âGoing now is the same as asking for death.
We should go out and find the rescuers now. Go down the mountain with them, and then send a team in to find him. We arenât professionals. Weâll only drag each otherâs feet here.â
âIn that case, then why donât you go?â Stella pushed his hand away. âI wonât leave him behind againâ¦â
She had separated from Roger three years ago. This time, she wasnât about to leave her family behind again.
Stellaâs reaction was not surprising to Weston. He knew she would react this way after knowing Rogerâs identity, but he could not just stand by and watch her die.
âTrust me. Iâll bring Roger back. Iâll bring him safely to youâ¦â
âYou should go first.â Stella suddenly let go of him and said to Weston, âI know youâre here to find me. I know you want to save me too. Just let the past go. We donât owe each other anything anymoreâ¦â
>>
âStella!â Weston suddenly cut her up in irritation. âAre you deliberately saying this to piss me off?â
Stellaâs eyes remained blank. âIf Roger was really dead, I would never forgive you in my life. But Iâm tired now. I donât want to continue to hateâ¦â
âWeston, you should go. I failed to protect him three years ago. This time, I must protect him.â
The sound of the whistling wind passed between them in the snowy mountains.
Weston heard the slight tremor in Stellaâs voice and took a deep breath. He said to her. âYou protect him, and Iâll protect you.â
Stella found her way to the place where Roger had rolled down earlier. Both of them were calling out to him, but their voices were covered by the sound of the snow.
After some time, a hoarse and weak voice finally came. Sis, leave me alone. Goâ¦â
