A loud bang interrupted Haydenâs speech.
Even Stella could feel the deafening noise from the call. Weston, however, didnât say anything.
After a long silence, she finally heard him forcing his word through gritted teeth,â Yes.â
Weston said, âIâd rather see her be happy.â
Stella fell into a long silence.
At last, she hung up the call and closed her eyes without saying anything. She thought, âThatâs what you say, Weston.â
Stella did not see Weston again after that day. There was no point in trying to pity him after his statement.
Roger found out about it somehow and talked to Stella. âDid Weston really say that?â
âHe didnât tell me in person, but thatâs what he said to Hayden.â
âHeâd even let you be with another man.â
Stella nodded. âBut Iâm not going to be with someone else just because of that. If Iâm going to date someone, itâll be because of love. Iâm not going to date someone just to piss someone off.â
Stellaâs answer made Roger feel a little weak. It was as if she had read his mind.
He cleared his throat. âEven so, you can get to know more people. You donât have to date them. Just treat it as socializing and making new friends.â
Roger behaved normally with Stella again. He was obsessed with getting closer to her and stepping over the boundary at one point. However, after going through so much, he seemed to have returned to his old calm self again.
He told Stella, âYouâre free lately anyway. Why not go out to meet some handsome men? Iâll introduce them to you.â
Stella looked at him with doubtful eyes. âAre you sure?â
Stella didnât trust Roger and disagreed with his suggestion.
The next day, Stella got a call from Roger after taking Emma and Elias home. Roger invited her to join him at the restaurant for a meal.
When she brought Emma and Elias over, Roger took the two little ones for a walk and told her to wait for him there.
She was about to make her order when she looked up and found a strange man sitting across the table.
âThe seat is taken,â she said with a frown.
âI know. Iâm here for you, Miss Cicily,â the man answered with a smile. He was wearing a white shirt and suited with an elite look. He seemed older than her and quite mature.
The man was not particularly goodâlooking, but he seemed like a gentleman.
Stella immediately understood and rubbed her brow helplessly. âDid Roger say something to you?â
âYes, of course. Iâve heard a lot about you.â
He observed her and was very polite to her. âMay I have the pleasure of joining you for this meal?â he asked attentively and gazed at Stella affectionately.
