Stella didnât notice anything unusual about his tone, and she didnât want him to know where she was, so she hung up the phone quickly. Right after hanging up, she felt a warm hug from behind. Weston had been in the living room earlier, organizing his papers. She had no idea when he had walked up behind her, his arms locked around her waist. âWho did you call?â she heard him asking in a low voice beside her ears. She adjusted her breathing before answering, âRoger.â âReally?â His expression didnât change much as his hands went gently around her waist.âI thought it was Justin.â She shut her eyes and held out her phone. âYou can check if you want.â He didnât say no. He unlocked her phone, checked the call history, and confirmed that it was Roger before handing it back to her. He didnât even hide the fact that he didnât trust her at all. Having total control over her, he treated her like a caged canary. Stella was clearer than before of what was her position as she asked, âAre you satisfied now?â
âCut all ties with Justin.â He didnât respond to her query, but he did drop a kiss on her neck. He would pull her into his arms and kiss her sometimes but that was the extent of his exploration. She pushed herself to question, âWill I be able to go to work regularly tomorrow?â âYes. Iâve already arranged a driver for you.â He pushed her hair aside, revealing her pale skin. He then pushed her up against the railing, and she felt him from behind. âLetâs go to the room,â she said between gritted teeth, her breathing steadying. The man behind her paused before laughing out loud. He sounded overjoyed. âI wasnât about to do anything to you, but you seemed thrilled.â She shifted her gaze to him, irritated.
âIsnât this what youâre looking for? Why are you being so gentlemanly?â âI was never a gentleman.â He gripped her chin, and the grin on his face disappeared.â However, I dislike coercing people. Iâm not interested, especially after seeing your bland face.â Stella felt as though she had just heard the funniest joke ever told. âYou donât enjoy coercing people? So, what are you up to now? Keeping me here is also forcing me.â âWhen did I force you?â he murmured, softly rubbing her chin.â You eagerly followed me home. Did you forget you had a choice?â
She fixed her gaze on him. âHow can you say this? Did you ever give me an option? Youâll hurt the people I care about if I didnât do what you want. Is that the option you gave me?â
âHow can it not be? If you care about the innocent, you must accept the burden. This is your decision.â
She shut her eyes and didnât wish to argue with him anymore.
There was no use talking to a shameless man like him.
âYou donât seem to understand the situation yet.â Weston didnât want to see her so hostile to him. âI want you here with me, Stella.â
She smiled at him but was soon cut off.
âI donât want to see you fake a smile when it looks worse than your crying face,â he snapped.
âThen what do you want me to do?â
The manâs eyes narrowed slightly as he fixedly peered at her, his gaze searching her face, and he finally said, âWhy did Roger contact you just now?â âHe said that heâs waiting for me at home.â Weston was reminded of the night he spotted her enjoying dinner with Justin and Roger.â Who cooks at home?â
he inquired.
She had no idea why he had asked the question, but responded, âHe eats in the cafe. If he gets home early, Iâll cook and heâll assist. Why?â
âNothing.â Weston let go of Stella and turned to face the kitchen. âI remember you having excellent cooking skills.â
