âSounds like you have much experience in this area.â
Stella looked at him smilingly. âDid you attract much attention when you werenât wearing a ring?â
Weston caressed her head. âThereâs no difference whether I wear one or not.â There were hordes of women who wanted a relationship with him, whether he was married or not.
âBut you wearing a ring can help block off many ill-intentioned menâ¦â âYou should wear a ring with Guinevere,â Stella coldly cut him off.
The temperature in the car dropped a few degrees.
Stella knew that the mere mention of her name at this point was akin to pouring a bucket of cold water over Westonâs head.
Yet, she still insisted on doing it to remind him that their relationship wasnât a straightforward one. It was also not something she wanted. Weston sighed. âHow many times do you need me to repeat myself before you understand? Iâm not married to Guinevere.â
Stellaâs brows furrowed. âWhen are you getting married to her? Iâll send you a huge wedding gift.â
Weston pinched her chin. âMust you say all these today?â He had thought that coming over to fetch him from work was a sign of peace, which was why he decided to bring her here to buy rings, but it didnât seem to succeed in pleasing her.
Stella shook her head. âFine. Weâll stop talking about her.â The corners of her lips twitched, but it was clearly not a smile. Weston rubbed in between his brows. A long while later, he said hoarsely, âLetâs get out of the Carâ
Stella had never been to such an exclusive-looking shopping mall.
Weston held her hand and said, âThis is a new establishment, and youâre its first customer.â
Stella held his hand tight. âWhat do you mean? You guys are open for business even before the official launching?â
âIls doors are open specially for you today.â Stella was shocked. âYou made them open the mall for me?â
âYou donât like it?â Weston stopped walking. âDonât you hate crowded places?â He had thought of bringing her to a boutique jewelry store, but given Stellaâs character, she would surely try to conceal herself and end up causing both to be upset and angsty. It was just like the last time he brought her to Musx, where she wouldnât stop squirming, worried sick about how people viewed her.
Evidently, she cared a lot about the opinions of others.
As he had expected, Stella began to hesitate. âThen wouldnât everyone know that the two of us âThey wouldnât,â Weston cut her off. He knew what she was worried about. âIâve already instructed them accordingly. Donât worry about anything. They donât know who we are. We are just ordinary customers to them.â
Stella nodded as she heaved a sigh of relief. âThatâs good.â
Weston asked, âWhat kind of ring would you like?â Stella shook her head. âI donât like rings.â
âPlatinum?â
Stella shook her head again, âJust a silver ring will do.â Weston stood silent for a moment as he turned a keen eye on her, âAre you intending to not spend my money so that itâs less troublesome when you eventually leave me?â His dark tone suddenly made Stella anxious. He had hit the nail on her head, but she did not want to admit it to Weston. Even though both of them knew it in their hearts, she wanted to continue acting as if she wanted nothing more than to stay by his side.
She released his hand and looked at him calmly, âWhy would you think that way? I just think that diamonds are a consumer trap. Unless it rises in value, Iâm not very interested in such things.â
She just didnât want Westonâs ring.
