âMr. Ford really treats you like treasure,â Michael couldnât help but remark. âHe watches over you like a hawk, even for a short while.â
âJust say what you want to say,â Stella said directly.
Both of them walked to the end of the corridor.
Weston was waiting outside.
Stella looked at him distractedly, âI believe I made my stance very clear just now.â
Michael looked at her and said, âI really didnât expect you to be able to win Weston over just like thatâ¦â
Puffing on a cigarette, he went on, âSeems like I donât really have a way nowâ¦â
âYou sound like youâre about to do something to me.â
Michael chuckled. âYouâve spent so much time with Weston that you can now find loopholes in what others say.â
âGrowth is inevitable, especially for someone like me.whoâs suffered so much in the hands of others,â
Stella hinted.
Michael turned solemn and only spoke after remaining silent for a long while. âI donât have much to say except to remind you about one thing: Given how things erupted at the engagement banquet, Roger will probably come to know about it. Given his temperament, I believe he wonât allow you to be with a man like Weston.â
Stellaâs face changed.
Roger was the only person she truly cared about.
Sending him overseas for further studies was so that he would not be affected by what happened here.
Stellaâs silence made Michael chuckle and pat her shoulders.â Take care.â
With that, he turned and left.
The silver Bugatti was parked along the streets.
Stella got into the car with a glum expression on her face, which made Weston ask her, âWhatâs the matter? Did he bully you?â
He pinched her cheeks.
Stella shook her head. âNo, Iâm just slightly worriedâ¦â
âAbout what?â
Weston pulled her onto his lap.
Stella sighed and said, âI havenât thought about how to break the news to Rogerâ¦â
Him again.
Westonâs brows furrowed as he lifted her chin. âHeâs a full grown adult. Heâll be able to accept it.â âYou donât know himâ¦â
Stella looked into his eyes. âPreviously, when he thought that Justin Hall liked me, he flew into a rage.â
The mention of Justin Hall made Westonâs face darken. âIf you hadnât mentioned him, I would have completely forgotten about your ex-lover.â
âWhat nonsense are you spouting? Thereâs nothing between us!â
Stella glared at him. âI havenât contacted Mr. Hall for a very long while.â
âYou sound very remorseful about that.â
Stella couldnât help but complain, âIf you go on being sullen like this, Iâll ignore you.â
Weston kept his silence, pinched her cheeks, and kissed her lips.
Stella could sense a shift in the atmosphere and tried to change the subject in between their kiss. âWhen did you change to this car?â
The black Cullinan that Weston used to drive was stable and unelaborate.
Stella wasnât used to seeing this silver Bugatti.
âYou donât like it?â
âItâs not thatâ¦â
Weston chuckled and bit her lip. âOr do you prefer a car with more spacious back seats?â
Had she turned bad under Westonâs influence?
Stella was able to catch his hint instantly. âWhy is your mind always in the gutter?â
Westonâs face changed with a pinch of her chin. âAre you getting arrogant as Iâve been going easy on you these few days?â
Stella avoided his touch and smiled. âCut it out. Iâm serious.â
Weston seemed to find her a downer. He released his fingers on her chin before letting her sit back down on her seat. âI donât think you need to coax and cajole your brother like a child.â
