Sensing the tightening grip around her waist, Stella added, "But itâs fine.We just wonât invite him then."
"Donât invite him?" Weston suddenly let go of her.
"Mm-hmm," Stella nodded.
Looking into his eyes, she said, "If heâs adamant in disapproving of our marriage, then weâll just not invite him to the wedding. He might cause some trouble if he attends, so I think itâs best we send him back abroad, where heâll focus on his studies."
"â¦are you sure?"
Westonâs brows furrowed gently He knew better than anyone else how devoted the two siblings were to each other.
Sure, they might not be blood-related, but he acutely sensed Rogerâs passionate feelings⦠feelings that might indicate more than brotherly love.
Nevertheless, based on what he knew about Stella, Roger was still the most important person in her life.
"We will get married come what may," Stella assured him with a smile.
"Whatâs important right now is that heâs safe and sound.Iâm not worried about the rest.I donât want our moment of happiness to be ruined just because heâ¦"
Before she could finish speaking, she was pulled into his arms in a tight embrace. He hugged her so fiercely that she felt like her ribs were being crushed.
Stellaâs eyes flickered. Her expression turned cold and stony when her face was hidden from his view.
Though she still wrapped her arms around him.She would never let him figure out that she and Roger were not biologically related, much less tell him that Roger had..feelings for her.
Weston was a possessive man as it was, and if he ever found out the truth about Roger, Stella shuddered to think what he could do to him.
The best course of action right now, therefore, was to send Roger away.
As long as he could live a somewhat healthy and normal life abroad, Stella was content and dared not ask for much else.
"I hear your wedding dress is ready." Weston told her stiffly when he finally let go of her.
"When are you going to try it out?" he asked, running his hand through her hair.
"Didnât you say itâs going to be a simple wedding?" Stella frowned.
"Yes." He pinched her nose.
"It will be a simple wedding, but it still shouldnât lack anything that a wedding needs."
Weston then sent her off to the car so she could try on the wedding dress while he himself headed toward Rogerâs ward.
Roger had just pushed the blanket aside and was trying to get out of bed when he heard the door open.
His instant hunch was that it was Stella who had returned again, so he sulkily muttered, "Didnât you say you donât want to see me anymore?"
"She does indeed not want to see you right now."
It was Westonâs voice. His tall figure strode into the room shortly afterward.
"I heard you plan on skipping my wedding," he stated.
Roger straightened up his posture and turned around to face the man.
"So itâs you."
Weston walked up to Roger and placed the invitation card on the bedside table.
"You are my fianceâs brother," he said, "so I owe you the courtesy of inviting you to our wedding, though itâll be up to you whether or not you decide to attend."
"Donât worry," Roger sneered.
"I will absolutely not attend. Thereâs no need for you to act all smug and cocky here, either. Itâs just a wedding, after all. Nowadays, people get divorced all the time anyway "Besides⦠you both have already gotten divorced once, havenât you?"
When Roger saw Westonâs face darkening, his heart was momentarily filled with the joy of revenge.
It was all short-lived, however, because Westonâs expressions reverted to their initial nonchalance in no time.
"I can assure you that that will be our last divorce," he said.
He tapped his finger on the invitation card on the table and added,"
Even if you donât get to see our wedding, I will make sure that youâll see a detailed recording of it."
Blood drained from Rogerâs face.
A sharp pain spread from his heart to the rest of his body.
"So what if you marry her again?!" he persisted, "Iâm still the man who has always been by her side and will always be by her side for the rest of her life!"
He clenched his teeth and continued, "Who knows what will happen in the future? Thereâs no guarantee that your marriage will last forever! But Iâm different! I will always be with her, and that is an undeniable fact!"
Weston burst into laughter in Rogerâs face. His laugh was full of contempt, as though he pitied Roger for not knowing his own worth. He then walked up to Roger and patted his shoulder.
"Stella is mine," he declared, his voice ruthless.
"That is the real, undeniable fact.A fact that no one dares to question."
