Chapter 187 Ryder suddenly lifted his head, asking, âDid Agnes tell you I donât like her?â
âShe didnât say anything, but your actions spoke volumes,â Jared replied.
His dislike for Agnes had been obvious the whole evening.
He even resorted to petty tactics like snatching food.
Knowing Ryder as he did, Jared knew that he had never particularly liked or disliked anyone in his life.
This intense dislike was a first.
Ryder asked coldly, âI donât get why itâs her. Werenât you always into Mamie? Sheâs nowhere as good as Mamie, why would you marry her?â
âBecause my heart fluttered, Ryder. If you meet a girl, and the moment you set eyes on her, you feel a jolt like electricity, even your heart starts racing, and you start trembling. That girl is the one for you. Thatâs my advice.â
âSo, you really do like her, right?â Ryderâs eyes dimmed.
âYes, I love her,â Jared replied.
Ryder lowered his head, his emotions unreadable, and said, âI get it.â
Jared patted Ryder on the shoulder, âEven if you donât like her, donât be too harsh on her, got it?â
Ryder just muttered a reply.
The next day.
After breakfast, Jared drove Agnes to school.
Ryder didnât join them in the car. He had gotten up early, but didnât have breakfast with them.
The rehearsals went smoothly.
But Cecile kept stirring the pot.
Agnes didnât mind the daily squabbles.
Until the day before the performance selection.
Agnes had her last rehearsal that night.
As soon as she entered East Hall, everyone swarmed her, saying, âAgnes, weâre screwed.â
âWhat happened?â
âOur props and costumes have been ruined.â
Agnes went backstage to see for herself.
All the props and costumes had been splattered with paint.
âWhat the hell happened?â
âDo we even have to ask? Obviously, Cecile is playing dirty, ruining our props and costumes. Tomorrow is the selection, sheâs ruthless.â
Vinson said, âShe already has the upper hand, why would she do this?

Kerri retorted angrily, âThis way, sheâs guaranteed to win.â
Agnes frowned.
The other members were freaking out, asking anxiously, âAgnes, what do we do? Without props and costumes, how can we perform the play? We only had one set of costumes, borrowed from another school and now theyâre ruined.â
Kerri said, âIâm gonna confront Cecile.â
Agnes grabbed Kerriâs hand, âWhen were these costumes ruined?â
âEverything was fine at our rehearsal last night, but this morning theyâre like this. I think Cecile mustâve sent someone to sabotage us last night.â
âDo you have any proof?â
âDo we even need proof? Who else could it be?â
Agnes said, âWithout evidence, if we rashly confront her, she wonât admit it. She might even turn it around on us, saying weâre framing her because weâre not confident about winning. After all, as Vinson just said, theyâre very confident about their performance tomorrow. To outsiders, they wouldnât need to do this.â
Kerri frowned, âSo what do we do now? We canât just let it go. And without props and costumes, what are we going to do tomorrow? Are we really going to give up?â
