Chapter 296 Mamie couldnât describe her mood.
Her eyes were puffy and it felt like her world had been turned upside down.
To others, it might have been a trivial matter from the past, but to her, it was of utmost significance.
Suddenly, Mamie stood up. âThanks for telling me all this. Iâve got some stuff to deal with, so Iâm gonna head out.â
With that, Mamie left the lounge.
Agnes speculated she was probably going to look for Ivan to verify the matter She heaved a sigh.
She wasnât sure if it was a good thing for Mamie to tell her about it, but anyway, it was the truth. About half an hour later, Ivanâs secretary Faye came to find Agnes, âMs. Pritchard, the CEO would like to see you.â
Agnes followed Faye to the CEOâs office.
One entire wall of Ivanâs office was a massive floor-to-ceiling window. He was standing by the window, his back to Agnes, his shadow stretching long.
Agnes knocked softly on the door.
Ivan turned his head.
Agnes closed the door behind her and walked in.
âDid you tell Mamie that I was the one who saved her from drowning when she was little?â Ivan asked first.
Agnes nodded, âWhy havenât you ever explained it to her, knowing sheâs been misunderstanding it all these years?â
Ivan frowned, âLetting her think it was Jared wasnât a bad thing. I thought it would help their relationship.â
âBut you might not know, a big part of why Mamie loves Jared is because of this misunderstanding. If youâd told her the truth earlier, maybe the person she loves would be...â
âAgnes, Iâm her brother!â Ivan interrupted.
âBut youâre not related by bloodâ
âEven without blood relation, Iâm her brother, always a family member to her After a moment of silence, Agnes asked, âBut are you really okay with that? Are you okay with just being her brother for the rest of your life? Sheâll marry someone else, have kids with someone else. Wonât it break your heart? Can bear it?â
you âEnough! Agnes, what the hell are you trying to say?â
Ivan had never spoken to her so harshly before. He seemed eager to deny something âSorry, Agnes, what you said was too much. I admit Iâve done many things wrong to you, but I did it all for Mamieâs future because sheâs my sister, my only family But Agnes suddenly interjected, âYou know why I suspected you?â
Ivan was slightly taken aback, not understanding why Agnes suddenly changed the topic.
âYou were very discreet. Jared never figured out who put the Kingdom Heart in my bag. Youâve always been very caring and fair in work. You were flawless, but you know why I still suspected you?â
Ivan looked slightly troubled.
He had always thought his plans were moving quite slowly and many hadnât even started yet.
So far, he had always thought that his identity should not have been exposed. Just like Agnes said, his plan was foolproof.
He didnât know where he went wrong
