Chapter 305 Turned out, her Granny was all twisted about Jared because of her Dad.
Her Granny used to be really sweet on Dad too. Agnes remembered, they always had a ton of fresh veggies at home, personally delivered from Grannyâs farm. Sheâd always say homegrown veggies are the healthiest.
But then, her Mum passed away all of a sudden. It hit her Granny hard.
She couldnât forgive Preston for the death of her daughter At first, Preston would come down to the countryside to visit, even tried to get her Granny to move in with him in the city, but sheâd refuse to see him every time. These past few years Preston visited less and less.
*But Jared is different,â Agnes said. âYou canât hold a grudge against him because of Dad. Theyâre two different people.â
But her Granny looked pretty bummed out. âThe better looking the man, the less reliable and responsible he is. I donât want you going down the same road as your mother.â
Agnes tried to explain, but her Granny was stubborn.
Suddenly, Agnes regretted not stopping Jared from coming to the countryside.
Her shoes were a bit tight, so Granny suggested a little alteration.
While Granny was snipping away at the shoes, Agnes sneaked out of the room.
Jared was in the kitchen doing the dishes.
Heâd taken off his gray sweater and was only wearing a white shirt.
It was the dead of winter, but there were beads of sweat on his forehead.
Agnes rushed over at once. âTake a break. Iâll do the dishes.â
Jared had driven for four hours today and was already very tired. Agnes felt really sorry But Jared rolled up his sleeves and gently pushed Agnes aside. âItâs okay if Granny caught me lazing around, sheâd probably like me even less.â
âTim really sorryâ Agnes said guiltily. âYouâre taking responsibility for my dad âWhat do you mean?â Jared asked.
Agnes told him about her conversation with Granny.
Jared looked thoughtful.
âMaybe you should just leave tomorrow,â Agnes suggested. âGrannyâs a stubborn old lady. You might have a rough time here.â
As Jared continued with the dishes, he said, âIf sheâs got a bad impression of me, then I should stick around and change her mind. Sheâs your Granny and sheâs important to you, so sheâs important to me too.â
Agnes was moved by Jaredâs words.
âAlright, donât disturbi me doing the dishes here. You can go to the room with grandma âNo, I want to stay here with you. I can give you a massage.â
Agnes stood behind Jared, insisting on giving him a massage.
A smile tugged at the corner of Jaredâs mouth. âDonât be in such a rush to give me a massage. Iâll give you plenty of chances to show off tonight.â
Agnes hadnât thought much of it, but seeing Jaredâs smirk, she suddenly got the hint She blurted out, âIâm not dealing with you anymore,â and ran out of the room blushing
