Chapter 360 Even though Farrell knew Mamie was knocking back the booze, he didnât lift a finger to stop her.
Agnes had a hunch that Farrell was gearing up to make his move. After all, the guy was a heavy hitter in the entertainment scene. Someone like him couldnât possibly be as innocent as he appeared.
Agnes had a bad feeling in her gut. But, you know, Farrell and Mamie kinda made a good pair. Besides, Farrell had been head over heels for Mamie, chasing after her for five long years. Everything he did was for Mamie. If the two of them ended up logether, it might even make for a good story in the showbiz world. However, Agnes felt like she was betraying Ivan. If she was in the dark, that would be one thing. But she was the only one who knew about Ivanâs feelings for Mamie After wrestling with her thoughts, Agnes decided to give van a ring Upon hearing about Farrell getting Mamie drunk again, Ivan cursed under his breath. Then he told Agnes, âAgnes, keep an eye on them. Donât let him take Mamie anywhere. Iâm on my wayâ
Coincidentally, Ivan was out of town on a business trip inâS City. When he said heâd be there soon, he probably meant within half an hour.
After hanging up, Agnes turned around to find Beatrice glaring at her.
Beatrice looked down on Agnes, âYou wern on the phone with Ivan, werenât you, Agnes? I didnât expect you to be so greedy.
Youâre even trying to seduce Ivan.â
âOnly someone with a scheming mind would think that making a phone call is seducing someone.â Agnes didnât bother to argue with her.
She needed to get back to the private room and keep an eye on Mamie. If Mamie and Farrell got up to anything tonight, Ivan would be pissed.
Meanwhile, Beatrice watched Agnes walk away, a hint of malice in her eyes. She had clearly overheard Agnes say some flirtatious things on the phone like âTil wait for youâ and âI canât do this without youâ. Agnes was bold, alright. She had a catch like Jared and she was still fooling around with Ivan.
Sheâd been waiting for an opportunity for a long time, and it looked like tonight was the perfect chance.
Beatrice also walked into the private room.
Mamie looked like she had had one too many. She was leaning on Farrellâs shoulder, still drinking and playing games.
Agnes couldnât stand it anymore and decided to step in. If things kept going this way, Ivan wouldnât make it in time.
The others were all drunk, some were singing, some were playing games, and most were hanging around the director.
While no one was paying attention, Beatrice pulled something small out of her bag, something that looked like a piece of candy.
She unwrapped it and, as she passed by Agnesâs seat, she dropped a white pill into Agnesâs insulated water bottle Agnes didnât drink alcohol. She carried this water bottle everywhere. It contained fruit juice- either orange or apple-that her assistant squeezed for her every day. Agnes had been sipping this juice all night.
Agnes was still trying to talk Mamie out of drinking more when Farrell got up from his seat, slurring âMamieâs drunk. Iâll take her home.â
Agnes was on edge.
If Farrell really did take Mamie home, it would be a disaster. Agnes didnât even want to think about what could happen next.
