Chapter 487 âI understand you are busy, but remember, we work for a better life. Right now, youâre a total slave to your academic research.
Trying to get a hangout with you is harder than meeting the president of the USA, Jared spoke in a fatherly tone.
âUncle, I hear you. But these years, youâve been busier than me. Mom told me that youâve moved your residence to your office, often forgetting to eat or sleep, pulling allânighters. As a doctor, itâs my duty to tell you that if you keep this up, your health is gonna take a hit sooner or later,â Ryder responded in a typical doctorâs tone 1 Jared just chuckled, âHa, now youâre lecturing me, huh?â
âI just care about you.â
âAlright, I get it. Iâll explain things to your mom. You canât make it back for the holidays again.â
âThanks, Uncle.â
As he was leaving, Ryder asked, âUncle, how long do you plan on staying here?â
According to Jaredâs plan, he was only going to stay in Manhattan for three days.
But now...he had a change of heart.
Jared said, âThis time, I plan on vacationing here for a while. Iâll be staying at Wavesong Villa, you can drop by anytime.â
Ryder didnât say anything After leaving the hospital, Jared returned to the villa.
It was a house he bought here several years ago.
Located right by the river, it boasted stunning views.
Jaredâs idea when buying this house was to sometimes bring âAgnes here for vacations.
But to his surprise, she never came.
Upon returning to the house, Jared felt it was so empty.
He tossed his coat on the couch and plopped down, exhausted, rubbing his nose bridge.
The image that came to mind was the profile he saw in the car at noon.
In fact, Jared was not certain at all.
He was just stunned at the sight.
Was that person really her?
It had been four years. She had disappeared for four years.
Jared closed his eyes, the scene from that night four years ago resurfaced in his mind.
That night, after Agnes left Maplewood Manor, he drove off to find her.
He went to the Pritchard familyâs villa.
After waiting for two hours, Agnes still hadnât returned.
He went out in the early morning.
Only to see a bunch of cops and an ambulance.
A car had had a serious accident not far from the Pritchard familyâs villa.
The car had crashed into a huge banyan tree by the roadside and was almost totally wrecked.
But Jared recognized it at a glance.
It was the Pritchard familyâs car.
Jared ran over like a madman.
He watched a woman, face covered in blood, being lifted from the car by paramedics.
For a moment, Jared thought it was Agnes.
His heart felt as if it was pushed into an abyss, started to tremble.
But soon Jared recognized her.
It was Beatrice.
Beatrice was taken to the hospital, Jared informed Laura but didnât follow.
Once all the paramedics and cops had left.
Jared stood alone on the deserted road.
The car was smashed beyond recognition.
But, the shattered test report stained with blood, scattered on the ground.
Jared spotted Agnesâ name among those pieces, what a coincidence.
Jared carefully picked up all the pieces, When he got home, he spent all night meticulously piecing them back together.
In the end, he found out it was actually a B- ultrasound report.
Clearly written on it, Agnes was 14 weeks pregnant!
