Chapter 599 Valeria gaped at the little boy, âThis kid is...?â
Jared glanced at the boy, âHis nameâs Summer. Heâs resting at my place for a bit.â
He didnât go into details about the boy.
Instead, he asked, âWhat brings you here?â
Valeria handed over a file, âThis is all about the engagement party. Iâve got charts and schedules. Take a look, do you need any changed?â
Jared skimmed through the file.
It was chockâfull of details, including guests, venue, prep work, and so on. It was clear as a bell, even had diagrams and comparisons.
Jared shut the file, âThis is some detailed planning.â
Valeria grinned, âJust part of the job. Of course, Iâm open to suggestions.â
Jared said, âYou can arrange the engagement party as you wish. If you need advice, my sisterâs there.â
Valeria chuckled, âSure.â
Meanwhile, Nocturne quietly went back to his room.
Watching the boyâs retreating figure, Valeria said, âHeâs such a cute kid. Weâre short a ring bearer for the engagement party.
What do you think about having him?â
Jared glanced at the door and said, âMight not work out. Heâs not a normal kid. Plus, heâs not from here, so he wonât be sticking around long.â
Valeria casually asked, âEver meet his parents?â
Jared shook his head, âNot yet. But Iâd love to.â
Valeria chuckled, âI always thought you werenât a kidâlike person. Surprised to see you fussing over a strangerâs kid.â
Jared grinned, âWell, the little guy is pretty endearing.â
Valeria said, âIâve reported in. Gonna head back now.â
Jared nodded, âWatch your step.â
After Valeria left, Jared went back to his room.
The little boy was sitting quietly on the sofa.
He looked a bit worried.
Jared walked in, âDonât worry. I gave your mom my contact info. Sheâll come get you soon.â
The boy looked up, âThanks for looking after me.â
Jared patted his head, âFunny that weâd run into each other twice in two weeks.â
The boy looked up, âMaybe itâs fate.â
Hearing a fourâyearâold talk about fate made Jared chuckle.
Jared laughed, âHow do you know about fate at your age?â
The boy said seriously, âYou laugh a lot.â
When he heard this, Jared was taken aback.
He laughed a lot?
No one had ever said that about him.
Even Jared couldnât remember the last time he laughed.
He knew the secretaries called him an icy, heartless demon behind his back.
Jared glanced at the fullâlength mirror.
In the reflection, he was smiling, a genuine, happy smile.
He hadnât even realized he was capable of such a natural, joyful smile.
He thought that after Agnes disappeared, heâd forgotten how to be happy...
