Chapter 629 Just now, the air seemed to be filled with sparks, but now itâs cold as ice.
Alyssa, feeling uneasy, decided to step out of the room.
She was just at the door when she overheard Ryderâs words.
It nearly scared the bejesus out of her.
The others in the room were just as taken aback, even Agnes was too stunned to react.
They all stared at Ryderâs rigid profile.
Only Jared, radiating cold energy, said, âRyder, have you lost your freaking mind?â
Ryder turned around, looking calm, âThe one whoâs lost it should be you. You ditched your own engagement, now youâre forcing Agnes to marry you. Let me make things clear, Agnes is not your wife, nor your puppet. You donât have the right to force her into anything she doesnât want.â
Jared stepped up to Ryder, âAnd what gives you the right to lecture me? Even if weâre divorced, sheâs still mine.â
âYouâre not the law, itâs not all about what you say.â
Jared snorted, âOur business is none of your concern, at least I am Nocturneâs father.â
âMy understanding of what a father is might be different from yours, and who Nocturne wants as his father is still up in the air.â
The two kept going back and forth, neither backing down.
Jared finally chuckled, âSo, youâve known all along that Summer is my son.â
âIâve known Agnes for three years abroad, naturally, Iâd know.â
Jaredâs fingers clenched into a tight fist.
Ryder, still calm, asked, âWhat, you wanna take another swing at me?â
Jared, expressionless and cold, answered, âNo, I wonât hit you, but donât expect me to be nice towards you from now on.ââ
âFeeling is mutual.â
Jared and Ryder each held one of Agnesâ hands, neither letting go.
Agnesâ hands were being squeezed so hard it hurt.
Tim watched as Jared and Ryder turned into archâenemies over Agnes, and he was so pissed he felt like he was about to have a heart attack.
Finally, he slammed his cane on the floor, âAre you guys trying to piss me to death?â
He never expected Ryder to have something to do with Agnes.
He just got back and now talks about getting married.
From their conversation, Tim was able to piece together the puzzle.
Ryder and Agnes met abroad years ago and their relationship was solid.
Ryder turned around, âAgnes and I were engaged abroad. Sheâs my girlfriend now, and she has nothing to do with Jared.â
Tim was so mad he could barely breathe, pointing at Ryder, âHave you really lost it? She was engaged to you, but had Jaredâs child, and you still want to marry her. What in the world is going on?â
Ryder calmly replied, âIâll be honest, I had feelings for Agnes four years ago, and I think you all knew. But I gave up because of Jared. Now theyâre divorced, thereâs nothing wrong with us being together. As for Nocturne, Iâve always treated him like my own.â
âBut sheâs your uncleâs wife!â Tim was so furious he threw a trinket from the table.
The trinket hit Ryderâs chest, making a dull sound, then fell to the floor and shattered.
Ryder coughed a little, but his voice remained calm, âGrandpa, your anger is clouding your judgment. Agnes and Jared are divorced, and they have nothing to do with each other anymore.â
