Jared entered the room, smiling, “Looks like I’ve been dethroned.”

Agnes‘ grandmother rolled her eyes at him, “You all hide things from me, it’s like you don’t even care about me. I may be old, but I can still look after a child.”

Agnes took her grandmother’s hand, “Granny, I won’t leave you again. Would you come to Manhattan with me?”

Jared frowned slightly.

She gave Agnes a glance, “What’s so good about a foreign land? I plan to return to the countryside soon. The place Jared found for me is comfortable but it’s not home.”

Agnes felt a pang in her heart. Her grandmother shouldn’t live alone.

Agnes had consulted with the local experts, her grandmother’s condition was stable but not optimistic.

Given her age, there were no miracle cures.

All they could do was pray that her condition wouldn’t deteriorate too quickly.

Jared was slightly taken aback, “Granny, why would you ask that?”

The grandmother sighed, “I had a hunch. Who takes their child abroad for work and ends up staying for years? These past few years, you haven’t visited me together, and Aggie keeps everything from me. You ignore each other when you meet. I figured, you must have parted.”
