Chapter 716 âWhat are you up to, Jared?â
Agnes was irate âNothing much, just thought Iâd ask you for a dance.â
Agnes was cornered, surrounded by couples on the dance floor.
Causing a scene here would only draw attention.
Reluctantly, Agnes allowed Jared to lead her into a waltz, yet her gaze was sharp enough to kill Agnes glared at Jared, âHavenât you had enough, Jared?â
âDonât you think itâs fate? That we could meet this way, in such a place, without either of us knowing beforehand. I think itâs destiny that youâre here with me.â
âHave you lost your mind, Jared?â
Just moments ago they were at each otherâs throats, and now Jared was spinning these sweet nothings.
Agnes found Jaredâs behavior bewildering.
Or perhaps he was plotting another prank at her expense.
Jared maneuvered them closer to Bella and Kearney, flashing a smile, âBella seems to have a thing for your bro Kearney here.
Do you think he would abandon you for power?â
Agnes returned the smile, âAnd if the tables were turned, would you?â
âI wouldnât.â
âWhy not?â
Jaredâs eyes were deep yet he suddenly leaned into kiss Agnesâ forehead, âBecause Iâm a fool in love, more enchanted by a beautiful woman than power.â
Agnes scoffed, âShould I feel honored?â
They continued to bicker as they danced.
The waltz ended all too soon, and Agnes was eager to make her exit, but Jared gripped her hand tightly.
No matter how she tried, she couldnât shake him off.
*Jared, I donât want to dance anymore.â Agnes was exasperated.
Jaredâs face held a familiar dominance, âOne more dance, the next one is a blackout dance.â
Agnes was helpless.
She had never experienced a blackout dance.
âI donât know how to,â Agnes said, frowning.
âItâs okay, I can teach you.â
Before she could respond, Jared pulled her back into the center of the dance floor.
The music started.
The same waltz tune.
But the lights on the ceiling went out.
So this was a blackout dance?
A dance performed in complete darkness?
She scoffed, âWho invented this dance? Whatâs the difference between dancing with the lights on and dancing with the lights off?â
Jaredâs voice held a hint of amusement, âThereâs a huge difference, just look aroundâ
Agnes glanced around, shocked The couples around them were not dancing.
They were kissing Like a silent agreement, everyone was wrapped in each otherâs arms, holding hands, lost in a sweet kiss.
âThis...â
Agnes was speechless.
Jerad broke the silence, âThe blackout dance was a dance form that has been embraced by many cultures across the world.
Known for Franch romantic nature, they believe that dancing in the dark allows for a freer expression of emotions. Kissing is a part of the blackout dance ritual. Shall we follow suit?â
âNo! Ah...â
Before Agnes could reject him, Jared took control and kissed her.
Agnes struggled.
But she was unable to move.
Jared held her waist with one hand, holding her hand with the other.
They were still moving in time with the waltz.
Jaredâs kiss stole her breath away, leaving her without the strength to resist.
