Chapter 779 Yolanda retorted, âYou know exactly what youâve done, Agnes. If you canât even respect my position as your Editor, maybe itâs time you found another job.â Agnes shot back, âIâm a journalist, Yolanda. Are you saying I donât have the right to publish my articles?â
âYour rights are given to you by me. If I donât approve of your actions, you are overstepping your authority if you take it upon yourself, Agnes. You should resign, Agnes, before I have to report you and tarnish the reputation of this firm âIâm not resigning. Agnes countered coldly.
âAgnes, I never knew you could be so shameless. Do you think I donât know whatâs going on? Why would the Tim Group get involved with these stray animals? Theyâre not a charity. Theyâre a business. I know itâs because of your shady relation with Jared. If this gets uncovered, people would say our reporter seduced the CEO. Can you imagine the scandal?â
Agnes, enraged, responded, âYou keep accusing me of having an illicit relationship with Jared. Whereâs your proof? Even if it were true, itâs our personal business. Jared called off his engagement. Heâs single, and weâre both single, so weâre not violating any societal norms here.â
Yolanda was fuming at Agnesâ audacity.
As the tension between the two escalated, the office door swung open. Judson walked in and said, âAgnes, there you are. Iâve been looking for you.â
Yolanda got up. âMr. Judson, what brings you here?â
Judson replied, âAgnes wrote a great piece, and itâs getting a lot of attention.â
On hearing it, Yolanda visibly paled.
Agnes interjected, âDirector Yolanda assigned me to the story. She knows a good story when she sees one.â
Yolanda clenched her teeth at Agnesâ insinuation.
Judson merely chuckled, âYolanda, itâs been a while since the News Department has had a story this good. Itâs quite an accomplishment.â
Yolanda had been on tenterhooks due to her poor performance, even facing potential demotion. It was only after the head of the TV station intervened that the situation was diffused. If she were to fire Agnes now, Judson wouldnât let her off easily.
Yolanda just couldnât understand why Judson favored Agnes. But she forced a smile and said, âExposing the truth and paying attention to societal issues is what we should do as a News Department.â
Judson agreed, âThe Fabiansâ adoption of stray cats and dogs is very popular among the public. I plan for Agnes to cover it as a feature story. Iâve even thought of a title, âKindred Spirits.â
Turning to Agnes, he said, âAgnes, Iâm counting on you for this. If you run into any trouble, donât hesitate to contact me.â
Agnes nodded, âThank you, Mr. Judson.â
As Judson was leaving, he told Yolanda, âThis is a special case. Give Agnes some leeway. Let her use the News Departmentâs resources as she needs. If thatâs not enough, she can approach me.â
Yolanda almost gritted her teeth but managed to say, âOf course, Mr. Judson. Agnes will do a stellar job with this feature.â Judson nodded and said, âAnd howâs the promotion video for the Tim Group coming along? Has it been approved yet?â
