Chapter one:
Hi, my name is Chloe Maka. I'm the daughter of Paea and Katherine Maka, Beta of the Moonstone Pack. I have a twin brother named Corey and a younger brother named Daniel. My twin is the future beta of the pack. His friend Xavier is the soon to be alpha. He has a younger sister who's the same age as me and Corey but for some reason she hates me, and since she's the alpha's daughter everyone hates me too including my mate who just so happens to be Xavier and he just so happened to reject me the first day he recognized me as his mate.
All my friends turned against me just to get her approval, proves how loyal they are, note the sarcasm. All I have left are my brothers. Corey doesn't care what others say, he loves me and he's the only one that stood by me while others bullied me and accused me of something I didn't do. Daniel is too young to realise what's going on, but he always reminds me every night that I'm his favorite sibling which would always get Corey in a mood because everyone knows how much Corey adores Daniel. but the thought makes me go to sleep with a smile on my face.
That is until the next day of course when I wake up and the bullying continues.
Every single day there would always be at least 5 injured people who Corey has beaten up for teasing me. I always told him to stop but that would always make him bash more people so I simply gave up.
I honestly don't know why people tease me I mean before Elena (Xavier's younger sister) made her hate towards me obvious, guys would always be around me asking me out and girls would always be friendly with me. Elena would also have guys and girls around her trying to get her attention so she shouldn't be jealous if that's why she hates me. She obviously has nothing to be jealous of now, as no guy would even look my way, well, except for Luke. Luke's the only person who didn't turn on me, he's now my best friend.
Apart from Xavier and Corey, Luke is one of the hottest guys in the pack. Luke has tan skin and a broad muscly figure. He has black hair and blue eyes while Corey has dark brown hair, green eyes. Xavier on the other hand has blonde hair that he always has to flip out of his light brown eyes. He wasn't as built like Corey and Luke, but he definitely had a great body which girls would drool over.
Corey and I are were fraternal twins but we had extremely similar features, so I obviously have long dark brown hair that falls to my waist, green eyes and curves in all the right places. Elena on the other hand has blonde shoulder length hair and blue eyes that she inherits from her father, Alpha Caleb while Xavier got his eye colour from his mother, Luna Hannah.
Elena started to hate me when we started high school. We were never really close but she would always be friendly towards me until the first day of high school.
*Flashback*
"Chloe if you don't get up now we're going to be late for the first day of high school!" an annoyed Corey yelled from his room.
I checked the time because I didn't hear my alarm go off. "COREY HOW ARE WE GOING TO BE LATE IF IT'S 5:40!?!" I seriously don't know how I survived living with my twin for 13 years. (I'm 13 in the flashback but I'm 15 in the present)
Corey didn't say a thing, but that didn't mean I couldn't hear his stupid laughs.
I decided to get up anyway since my dearest twin brother ruined my sleep. I would've gone back to sleep but I have this weird habit that when I wake up I can't go back to sleep until night time. It's a gift and a curse.
I went and had a long warm shower and used mango scrub to wash my self and used mango scented shampoo and conditioner, I guess you can say I love mangos. I got dressed in black suspender shorts that fell to mid-thigh and a white singlet since it would be hot today. I wore my black and pink adidas high tops. I put my long brown hair into a bun and took a look in the mirror and admired my natural tan skin. Did I forget to mention I'm half Tongan and half Italian, well if I did, then yes, I am half Tongan, half Italian. My dad's Tongan and my mum's Italian so I guess you can call me, Corey and Daniel a meatball horse.
I looked back at the time and holy moly it was 7:25. I took 2 hours and 15 minutes just to get ready. Oh no high school is already changing me. I ran down the stairs knocking down Corey in the process just to get to the kitchen to eat breakfast.
My mother was cooking pancakes. Katherine is really pretty. She had straight brown hair with brown eyes, and was averaged height. Her skin was fair but what made her stand out was her eyes as she had naturally long dark eyelashes. My father walked in and hugged my mother from behind. It was so cute the way my mum would be shocked at first but then melt back in to my dad's arms. I can't wait to find my mate, I just know he's going to be awesome. My dad's skin colour is brown and he had black hair and was extremely buff. My parents are such a cute couple.
I went and sat on a chair that was directly in front of the pancakes while licking my lips. My parents both laughed at me. Just as I was about to gran a pancake I was knocked out of my seat. "WHAT THE-" before I could finish, the culprit who knocked me out of my seat spoke.
"Karma's a real female dog, no pun intended" an amused Corey said.
Oh no he just started something he will not win. "Corey, I was wondering how long it took for you to get up, don't tell me you stopped to cry again." I said with a fake concerned voice. I smirked at my brother whose face was priceless. His jaw dropped and the pancake he was about to eat fell back down on the ground.
"Chloe that was one time let it go. Besides you put a lot of effort into that punch" Corey protested back.
"Brother, brother, brother, we both know I didn't put effort into that punch, that is if it can even be considered a punch, I reckon it was more like a friendly slap, the problem is that you didn't take it as friendly and started crying." Corey's jaw tensed and his fists clenched.
"MOMMA!" he screamed.
"Aweeee you poor baby!" I cooed while patting his check. He smacked my arm away and looked at our mum. I laughed at him; I also forgot to tell you that he is a huge momma's boy. I'm more of a daddy's girl.
"Chloe Salvatore Maka! Adesso basta, chiedi scusa a tuo fratello e mangiate la vostra colazione. (That's enough now apologise to your brother and eat your breakfast)"
"Mamma hai parli italiano?" I replied while my brother and mum snickered. "What?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It's mamma hai di parlare in Italiano? (mum do you have to speak Italian?) you said mum you speak Italian." I just glared at my brother.
"Bravo ragazzo (Good boy)" my mum said as she kissed my brother's forhead.
"Si, me'a maumau taimi mooni koe moua. Tuku pe Eau keu Kai." (gosh stop wasting my time, I'm trying to eat)." ha they didn't see that coming. Yep Corey loves Italian while I love Tongan. My father laughed out loud which earned him a glare from mum while Corey looked at me confused with his mouth hanging open. "Tapuni ho ngutu na ha'u ae lango kiai" (Close your mouth before a fly goes in) oh I'm so glad I learnt Tongan. I can swear at Corey whenever I want because he doesn't understand it.
"I taught you well Chloe" my father said as he came and hugged me and kissed my forehead.
"Yes you did Teti" (Teti is how you say dad in Tongan) he smiled and walked back to my mum and held her waist. Like I was saying there the cutest couple out.
"Chloooeee where are you?" my younger brother Daniel said as he ran into the kitchen. He saw me and instantly ran up to me and jumped on my lap.
"Hey Danni, you missed me!" I asked as I ruffled his hair up.
"Yes, where you going?" he asked as he pouted. His four years old and he loves me so much, he's too cute.
"Danni, I'm going school and I'll be right back." I reassured him and kissed his forehead when he nodded and went to my mum.
Corey and I both got up to kiss our parents and brother goodbye. As we were near the door I turned around and said goodbye to Daniel again. Corey did the same but this time Daniel screamed out "Puaka!(pig)" I couldn't help but laugh and my dad wasn't even trying to hold his laughter in. Corey just glared at me.
We reached our high school 'Gamma NewSigh High' and people started giving me the evils. Everyone I would walk past would look at me and then quickly turn around and whisper things. I turned to my brother and he was just as confused as I was. "Corey is there something on me?" I asked, he just shook his head no and glared at anyone who looked at me in a bad way.
"I'm surprised you even showed up to school you traitor!" I turned around to see who was talking to me and it was one of my friends Sylvia.
"What are you on about Sylvia?" I asked clueless because honestly I was clueless, what the hell is going on?
"Seriously Chloe don't" I gave her a confused look. "Don't act all innocent because we all know what you did to Elena, the alpha's daughter."
"What did I do to her?" I asked, what is she going on about?
"Don't play dumb Chloe, Elena told the whole pack about what you did during the holidays, how you set her up to go to the Theta nu theta Pack saying they wanted a truce with our pack when they didn't. As soon as Elena set foot on their territory they attacked her. Luckily for her Alpha strength she pushed them all off and ran back to our territory. I can't believe you would take jealousy this far Chloe, i can't believe I even considered being your friend."
To say I was shocked would be an understatement. "Sylvia do you even hear yourself right now?! I would never do that to someone, how can you accuse me of doing such things. And when was I meant to talk with the Theta nu theta pack and plan this whole lie up huh?"
She looked at me and then behind me and her glare hardened. "I don't know Chloe but all I know is that you're a traitor and you're working with the Theta nu theta pack. Your father should be disappointed in you."
Oh hell to the no! Who does she think she is bringing my dad into this? "Listen here Sylvia you don't know my dad ok! He would never believe this lie over me, so he has nothing to be disappointed in." Sylvia just flipped me off and walked towards her roll call class. My brother just hugged me and told me he believed me and everything will be alright.
That was until Xavier and Elena marched up to us and broke us up. Xavier turned towards me and slapped me across the face. As soon as his hands touched mine I felt electrical sparks all over myself and my wolf spoke to me. She screamed 'MATE'. Oh great what a nice way to meet your mate, note the sarcasm. A low growl left Corey's mouth. I looked over at him and he was about to shift right there. Even though this is a werewolf school I couldn't have him shifting because 1, he'll rip his clothes and 2 he didn't bring any spare clothes. Elena told him to calm down and even though she's not the future Alpha she still has alpha blood so Corey had no choice but to submit to her. His eyes stayed glued on his friend who just slapped me. If looks could kill, I'm sure Xavier would be six feet under.
I looked back at Xavier my so called mate. Who in their right mind would slap their mate? He looked really shocked. He stood there looking at me with regret written across his face until Elena spoke up. "How could you Chloe, I've been nothing but friendly to you and you just turn around and stab me in the back like that." Corey and I snapped our head towards her. She had bruises everywhere.
"Elena I did nothing to you, I didn't set you up and I never told you to go to the theta nu theta Pack!" I told her. Why would she even make that lie up and how the hell did she get all those bruises?
"Then explain to me Chloe, why do I have all these bruises on me huh, I obviously didn't do this to myself so just stop denying it. You're a traitor." She screamed back. Man is she such a good actress.
"Look Elena I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I don't know anyone from the theta nu theta Pack and I don't even know-" I was interrupted by Xavier
"ENOUGH! Chloe we all know what you did so drop it, Elena is kind enough not to tell our parents about your little plan so just admit it !" He yelled at me and another growl left Corey's mouth. "Elena, Corey leave I need to talk to Chloe alone." Just thinking about me and Xavier being alone sent shivers up my spine. Corey went to protest but Xavier used his alpha tone this time. "NOW!" they both left but Corey was pissed that he punched the wall and left a massive hole in it.
I tried to escape but Xavier grabbed my hand and then another group of sparks ran through me. "I said I needed to talk to you." He said and I couldn't help but shiver when he said my name. How do I even know if he is my mate I'm still 13 unless he turned 16.
"Xavier?" he shivered when I spoke. Nice to know I have that effect on him. He just looked at me so I continued. "Did you just turn 16?" he nodded his head. My eyes widened, this means he is my mate. "We're mates!" I said with glee and he nodded his head but he didn't seem as happy as I was. "What's wrong?" I asked him.
He let go of my arm and the warmth his hand provided me was replaced with coldness. He placed his hands in his pockets and sighed. He then looked me straight in the eye. "Chloe what you did to my sister is disrespectful, I can't have a mate who disrespects and hates my sister-"
"I didn't do it I swear Xavier I didn't set her up" I tried to reassure him but he just shook his head.
"No Chloe I have to do this. I Xavier Gilbert reject you Chloe Maka as my mate." As those words left his mouth my wolf was howling in pain from the rejection of her mate. Tears were running down my eyes.
"Xavier Gilbert you will regret this day!" I said as the tears ran down my face. I ran out of the school as fast as I could and shifted into my greyish white wolf and ran back home.
I ran inside my house butt naked and luckily it was just my mum. She stared at me in shock but handed me a blanket to cover myself up, because even though I was 13 my lady features were quite large. I guess I blossomed early. My mother probably noticed my red puffy eyes as she ran and hugged me tightly. She asked me what's wrong and I hesitated at first to tell her what happened but then I saw tears in my mum's eyes so I told her everything. I told her about Elena and the rumours she spread and how I found my mate only to have him reject me. I didn't tell her his name and she didn't push me because she knows when I'm ready I'll tell her.
My mother hugged me tightly and rocked me back and forth till I stopped crying. "bambina il suo ok (baby it's ok)" she told me as she kissed my cheek. "sei bellissima, Lui non ti merita (You are beautiful, he does not deserve you.)" I cried even more and my father and Daniel walked in.
Daniel ran up to me and started crying too. "Chloe why are you crying? Did Puaka (pig, Daniel speaks Tongan) do this to you? I can punch him if you want." He said as he patted my hair. He's too cute.
"No Dan, Puaka didn't do this, I just fell over and hurt my arm." I couldn't really tell him because he wouldn't understand and plus my dad is in the room there's no doubt he's struggling to keep his wolf under control.
"Baby girl what happened?" my dad asked as he came and sat beside us.
"Nothing Teti, I just fell over and it felt like my bone broke." I can't tell him, because then he would go and tell the alpha about the lie Elena made and because Elena is the alpha's daughter the alpha would take her side and then, well there would be a big argument.
"Don't lie to me Chloe, who did this to you!" he yelled.
Daniel hugged me tighter and looked at our dad. "Don't scream at her she hurting." My dad's face soften when he looked at us and apologised.
Just then Corey walked into the room pissed off. He looked at me and his face softened too but then returned to his icy glare. "He is so lucky he's an alpha's son or I would've killed him today!" he yelled as he was pacing back and forth mumbling things to himself.
"What do you mean son? You know what happened?" my father asked as he stood up quickly.
"Do I know what happened? Do I know! father I was right there when it happened. The little mutt slapped her across the face that's what happened." He said every word with so much hate it freaked me out, I have never seen him this angry.
"WHO?" was all my father said but that freaked me out even more because usually when he's mad he won't stop rambling, but now he only said one word.
"No one Teti. Corey tell him nothing happened." I looked Corey straight in the eye.
Corey went quiet and my father grew impatient. "Well, Corey who slapped her?"
Corey looked at me and mouthed 'sorry'. "Xavier, it was Xavier."
"That little -"
"Dad!" My dad snapped his face towards me. "It's ok dad-"
"No, this is not ok, he can't just slap you and get away with it. I will make him wish he was never born when I'm done with him." my father said as he walked towards the door.
I ran and shut the door straight away. "Teti don't!" My dad ignored me and tried to walk out the door again. "Oua Teti. Ai ho kataki ke lahi. (Please dad, just forgive and forget) Don't go after Xavier". Paea (my dad) was about to say something but I looked straight into his eyes. "For my sake dad don't do it, he's not worth it."
He sighed and ran his hands through his hair. "For your sake." Was all he said and then he walked out of the room.
Everyone went to sleep early that night and Corey and I went back to school the next day. This time my father dropped us off and waited outside the school till first period started. Corey and I had different timetables so when I had PE Corey had maths. Unfortunately for me my class had to pair up with Xavier's PE class.
That wasn't the only bad thing, what was worse is that he walked into class with his arm over some blonde chick. They came and sat at the only table that was available, which was the table next to me. The blonde chick must have thought that Xavier was a chair as she sat on his lap. Stupid, stupid girl. I was about to say something but a paper was thrown at my head.
I picked the paper up and unfolded it. Oh great another traitor note. I ripped the paper into pieces thinking that was the only one but more notes were being thrown at me. Each note had something mean written on It, it either said traitor or jealous bit*h. they kept coming one after another. Tears started running down my face and I looked over at Xavier to see if he even cared. Well my idea was really off because there he was... smooching the blond chicks face off. My wolf howled in pain and more tears ran down my face. That's it, there's only so much a girl can take, I stood up grabbing my things and walked out of the room and ran to the girls bathroom.
'why would he do this to us?' my wolf Caroline asked me. it was so painful to hear her so hurt.
"Because he believes everyone else over us, because he's a jerk" I replied to her. She didn't say anything but you could her whining and calling out to her mate.
After I fixed myself up I walked out and it was recess. Wow I've been crying for the past two subjects. I went to go look for Corey but ended up bumping into Elena. Just my luck. "Watch where your walking traitor!" she screamed and everyone stopped and looked at us. "I can't believe you would do this to me, I've never done anything to you and you nearly got me killed." She said as she wiped her tears away. Wow she is a great actress. Everyone glared at me and started pushing me around. Sylvia pushed me and I would've fell to the floor but strong arms caught me. Since I couldn't feel any sparks I knew it wasn't Xavier. I turned around to see who caught me and it was an amazingly hot guy. 'Not as hot as our mate' my wolf said, I rolled my eyes at her and continued to admire this Greek god in front of me.
"Thanks" I mumbled as I got out of his hold cause if I was in his arms any longer I would probably faint. I ran and ignored the stares I got.
I got outside and walked to an empty table. The guy that caught me ran up to me sat next to me.
"Hey I'm Luke, what's your name?" gosh even his voice was hot.
"Chloe, Chloe Maka." I replied, thank goodness my voice wasn't shaky or that would've been embarrassing. "Look Luke, umm if you want to keep your reputation up you shouldn't hang around me. I'll just drag you down." I told him truthfully.
"Chloe wow I knew you were the beta's daughter but I never thought you'd be this funny. I don't care about reputation or popularity I care about personality. Out of all the girls in this school your probably the least stuck up one." Wowza that was deep. I started to blush and I don't know why. He started to laugh and I blushed even more.
"Friends?" he asked with his hand held out towards me.
I smiled and took his hand and nodded. "Friends." And that is how me and Luke became the friends we are today.
